Face Stockholm – don’t miss these summer stunners

I discovered Face Stockholm when one of the coolest girls I’ve ever known gave me a lipstick as a birthday gift. It was so exotic: gorgeous color, sleek silver packaging and a brand name that was brand new to me. My friend regaled me with tales of endless rows of lipsticks, nail polishes, blushes. Before long, I hopped on a train and traveled three hours to New York City to the Face Stockholm Soho store, and almost swooned at the endless array of colors. I was smitten, and my love has only grown over the years.
Previous wht Face Stockholm reviews detailed the cool story of Gun Nowak and Martina Arfwidson, the Swedish mother/daughter team who founded the line. With every year, their beauty creations evolve in groundbreaking ways, like last year’s nail polish colors. In fact, did you know they recently launched a line of polish for J Crew?
And once again, Face Stockholm has reached new heights with Summer Overture, described by them as “the dulcet bliss of the first scoop of sorbet, the passionate exhilaration of a Baroque concerto.” If you think this is a little too poetic for mere cosmetics, you need to take a look at the sweet colors of these eight new products (ranging from mineral foundation to cheeks, eyes and lips). wht received two Summer Overture products to test, both are perfect to bridge the transition between seasons…
First up, the Sun Kissed Blush. The blush, packaged in a slim, silver compact containing a nice little mirror, appears to be a light peachy rose in the compact. Only when I applied it did I see the dimensions of color that created a natural glow on my pale cheeks. This blush is packed full of pigment, and I only needed a tiny bit.
Sun Kissed Blush, Nypon Ros gloss
I was initially curious about why the Summer Overture collection only included one blush. So, in the interest of science, I tested it on several friends of various skintones, ranging from super pale to quite dark, and Sun Kissed Blush looked beautiful on everyone.
Nypon Ros gloss is similarly a gorgeous, multi-hued color: kind of peachy, kind of mauve, a little gold. I still can’t figure out how it can be so full of pigment and so glossy, too. Besides the warm color, it contains gold micro-glitter, which I feared might be too sparkly for daytime. Silly me. Nypon Ros is subtle even in bright sunlight. It works as a gloss alone, or adds a glowing oomph over lipstick. Packaged in a slim squeeze tube, it’s been my go-to gloss all summer.
Pros:
• Lovely sorbet colors that look universally good on any skin tone.
• Both the blush and gloss are pigment-rich, so a little goes a long way. After using both for a month, I’ve barely made a dent.
• Gloss is moisturizing and stays put without being sticky.
• Slim, stylish packaging that will tuck neatly into the smallest makeup bag, or even a pocket.
Cons:
• Unless you’re lucky enough to live in a city with a Face Stockholm boutique, you won’t be able to check out the line in person.
There is not a single extra thing Summer Overture could give me except a wider range of these products, which they’ve dubbed “deliciously different”. I concur!

Wow, I love those two colors. Very nice for fall and neutral palettes. I love the shimmer in the lipgloss. Thanks for the review Melissa!
I am in love with that blush and the lip gloss looks so sparkly and pretty. Too bad I have to behave with the spending right now. *pouts*
Ooooh, that lipgloss is gorgeous, but possibly a wee too warm for my cool-toned self. I can see the gold clashing with my undertone (not pretty!)
I’m a total sucker for peachy pink glosses with golden shimmer. I love when companies release collections that focus on just a few beautiful products, and while the blush doesn’t “wow” me I can see it becoming an easy staple. Great review @turboterp !
You don’t know how hard it was for me to mail out this gloss to @turboterp! Especially after taking the swatch photo. I kept picking it up, staring at it lovingly, trying to figure out how I could somehow keep it but have her review it (really good notes? squeeze some in a plastic bag? let her borrow it?!) But, I gave it up for the great good of testing. And I totally regret it..it’s SO PRETTY!!!
Welcome to every single we heart this mailing of a lip gloss.
Oh Face Stockholm, we heart you!
In the time since I wrote this post, my love for this duo has only grown. Pretty, happy colors… even prettier than the swatches, believe it or not! If you need a pick-me-up, you should consider treating yourself.
And @stef , I appreciate your gloss sacrifice. I don’t think I would have had the strength to let go…
@stef is a much better woman than me; I would have seen that gorgeous gloss with all the pretty flecks in it and would have taken a flying tackle at it… SO pretty and it looks like a really universal color, I love it!
Great review! :) That gloss looks really nice….
