I love a good beauty gadget. Oscillating brushes, sonic infusers, motorized doo-hickeys – give these all to me. But I recently discovered the ultimate beauty gadget. And honestly, I don’t know if this one is ever going to be topped on the innovation scale. It’s the HiMirror, and prepared to be wowed.

There haven’t been a whole lot of improvements to mirrors over the years. Sure, they added lights (super handy) and they’ve added magnification (super scary). But aside from that, a mirror is a mirror, right? Until now…

Imagine a mirror that can scan your face, analyze it, produce a detailed image that highlights areas of concern, suggest a skincare routine based on your results and, over time, measure improvements through your history of images. Told you it was good!

The HiMirror is a 14” LCD panel mirror with a high resolution camera, speakers and a microphone. It connects via WiFi or Bluetooth, and once you set up an account, will electronically track your skin in many helpful ways via skin type analysis technology. It’s like there’s a tiny dermatologist in there.

It scientifically measures dark circles, red spots, fine lines, complexion, pores, dark spots and wrinkles, and determines your skin’s healthiness, clarity, firmness, texture and brightness.

Once your existing skin conditions are tracked, the healing begins! HiMirror will develop a custom-built skincare routine based on products you already have. It will also track the improvements to your skin by showing you graphs and photo comparisons.

What’s the microphone and speakers for, you may be wondering? Oh, just so you can operate it with your voice (as if facial recognition and being able to navigate it through hand gestures weren’t enough.) You can also listen to your Spotify account with it.

There’s also what might be the most exciting component for a beauty product connoisseur; My Routine. This feature will track usage and, more importantly, it can tell you is if your skin improves or not after you add a new product or change your routine. Have you ever bought a product and wondered “Is this really working?” HiMirror will track if it is. Genius.

HiMirror sells for $189 at HiMirror.com And if you are truly a technology lover or fitness buff, check out the company’s Smart Body Scale which does for scales what HiMirror does for mirrors (i.e. makes them infinitely more helpful). It measures weight, body fat ratio, body mass index, total body water, muscle mass, bone mass and basal metabolic rate.

  1. So cool! This technology is really intriguing, and I love that it uses the products you already own for its skincare routine suggestions.

  2. WOW!! So dang cool! Where will the super high-technology end? I swear, I marvel over the new modern gadgetry! Video was pretty cool! In the meantime, until I have some spare (ha) change around, I will have to use my own visual senses, to track and see how my skin is doing..

  3. Holy cow, this is really impressive! High tech beauty…what a time to be alive! :)

  4. Well that just sounds super nifty! I love the idea that it can help your skincare routine and track your skin’s improvement!

What would make me laugh is if it also told you if you needed to change your makeup, much like my mother used to. Might I suggest it say in “the Mom tone”, “You’re going to leave the house like that? You better put on more blush! And blot that lipstick! You look like a street walker!” :D

  5. Being a tech junkie, this sounds so cool! I love all the features and information it gives you… makes me wonder what kind of shape my skin is in?
