Your dream chocolate bar is now a reality
I have a wicked sweet tooth. Oddly enough, my sweet tooth is really discerning when it comes to candy – not just any sweet will do. The only candy I’ll really eat is a really good chocolate bar. My preference usually leans towards dark chocolate (so I can say it’s healthier for me, practically a health food) and the creamier the better (if I feel any “grit”, I will spit it out like a dog spitting out a pill). Plus, sometimes I like to mix things up; maybe a dark chocolate with something extra, hazelnut filling, truffles or crisps.
However, I’ve noticed that it is nearly impossible to get a quality dark chocolate bar with anything exciting going on for it. Usually I see them plain, maybe with some caramel, possibly a hint of fruit or mint. Where does one find a chocolate bar that stands out from the boring pack? Chocomize!
The folks at Chocomize offer a unique opportunity to the consumer – designer chocolate! Have you ever eaten a candy bar and thought, “I could come up with something better!”? Now you can let your creativity flow…directly into a yummy bar of chocolate!
Take another look at the bar of chocolate at the top of the post – that’s Stef’s own creation – a milk chocolate bar with hazelnuts, caramel bits and potato chips – mmmm.
No matter what your flavor preferences, Chocomize has something for you. Whether you are customizing a chocolate bar for yourself, a gift for someone else, or looking for a unique party favor; you are bound to create something not only tasty, but also visually impressive. These are not your typical candy bars, people!
Designing your dream chocolate bar is easy. Just click on the Build Your Custom Bar link and get started. You get to choose between three different kinds of base bars, all high-quality Belgian chocolate: dark, milk or white.
From there, you can choose your five add-ins among a vast selection of nuts and seeds, fruit, herbs and spices, candy, decorations and the mysterious “other” ~ a category that includes things such as bacon and cocoa nibs (chopped cocoa beans).
If you can dream it, you can make it. And eat it. Preferably not in one sitting, though: chocolate like this should be savored.
Krista’s Indulgence – dark chocolate bar with crushed peppermints, cinnamon, cocoa nibs and gold flakes
I received a bar of my own design, entitled “Krista’s Indulgence”, a gorgeous dark chocolate bar containing ingredients such as sea salt, cinnamon, crushed peppermint candy, cocoa nibs, and real gold flakes. You read that correctly: My chocolate bar was adorned with 23 karat gold flakes! Fancy, right?
The taste was out of this world; you could really taste the creamy darkness of the chocolate, enhanced with the extra depth of the cocoa nibs and the warmth of the cinnamon, cut by the coolness of the peppermint and the salty tang of sea salt.

The 23 karat gold had no flavor, of course, but I did get to channel my best Austin Powers’ Goldmember impersonation and madly cackled “I LOVE GOOOOOOOOLD!!!!” any time I broke a square off.
Yeah, I may be a little deranged. But I make a mean bar of chocolate, so I’ve got that going for me.
Tyna’s Indulgence – milk chocolate bar with macadamia nuts, caramel pieces and orange peel
Along with custom bars, Chocomize also offers a few of their own permanent, popular flavors and I was lucky enough to test out their Smores bar and their Cookie bar.
Chocomize Smores Bar – Milk chocolate bar with mini marshmallows and graham teddies
The Smores bar is composed of creamy milk chocolate with Teddy Grahams and mini marshmallows and the Cookie bar is chocolate-coated cookie dough and Oreo pieces in a bar of delicate white chocolate. All I can say is “Heaven in chocolate form.” If the thought of creating your own chocolate bar intimidates you, you cannot go wrong trying one of their classic favorites!
Chocomize Cookie Bar – white chocolate with oreo pieces and cookie dough
What I love even more than their delicious chocolate creations, Chocomize donates a portion of the proceeds from every bar to Doctors Without Borders, Team Fox (Parkinson’s research) and A Drink For Tomorrow (clean water & sanitation for impoverished areas).
Now when you eat a bar of chocolate in one sitting, swatting at your husband with your arm with the ferocity of a bear’s claw to get away because it’s yours, you can say that you’re helping people, too. You’re welcome, world.

Krista currently lives in a semi-haunted house in New England with her hubby/best friend and obscenely big-eared dog. She thinks the world would be a better place if people smiled more and ate more dark chocolate. She is a firm believer that humor can be found in everything and that Tom Selleck’s moustache has healing properties…

I got a gift card from them for a foodie friend who had a grand time with it. I’m really looking forward to giving one to my mother who can only eat white chocolate and therefore suffers from sweets boredom.
All of this is of course a way to stop me from buying anything there myself!
Wow, great chocolate that gives to charity! Why NOT buy? Adorable idea (we all have our quirky go-withs). I loved my Christmassy creation chocolate bar with nuts and cranberries. That combo inspired an almond, dried cranberry, chocolate chip concoction that I kept in a candy dish until I realized that delicious combo needed to be replenished far too often. Back to the bar! 5 big fat gold chocolate stars!
I won a 5 bar Chocomize giveaway from We Heart This a few months ago, and it was so fun picking out flavors! I made a spicy dark chocolate one that I really liked, and also a dark chocolate peppermint one that was fabulous. The rose petals were interesting–not my favorite, but fun to try! The other two had random candy pieces on them. I shared with my office-mates and they loved trying all the different combinations. It’s fun, and would make a great gift (either as a gift cert to let the recipient pick out their own, or you can design one for them). And I LOVE that they donate to charity. Given all of that, the price is reasonable. All of my bars arrived 100% intact. The chocolate is above average quality. I’m definitely giving them 5 stars!
Omg, these look so amazing! I think something with coconut and almonds would be my choice!
Would I be the only one drooling over the prospect of a milk chocolate-bacon-potato chip deal?
Nope, I’m right there with you!
Hahah, that was my very first thought, too! Nom nom nom…
I’m ashamed to admit, I didn’t expect much more than a novelty with these; fun to make, but how good could they really be? The answer is happily very, very good! The chocolate is so Belgian, and by that I mean so good. Delightful, melt in your mouth milk chocolate. Only made better with your toppings, mine being potato chips, hazelnuts and caramel bits. And they don’t skimp on them either.
This is a fabulous gift idea. I can’t tell you how giddy one gets building a virtual bar!
The fact that they give to charity with every purchase only makes them better. 5 star chocolate!
5 huge stars from me on this one. I got to eat chocolate and I got to eat gold. Two of my FAVORITE pastimes… :)
@krista – I will never be able to not think of you screaming “I love Gooooold!” Thank you for that.
