If you’ve been a reader of we heart this for any amount of time, you’re probably aware of my favorite things (because I don’t shut up about them):

• I live for lip products.
• I like animals more than most people.
• I never met a condiment I didn’t like.
• And I LOVE The Makeup Show. Like, seriously love.

Luckily, I have ready access to lip gloss, animals and mustard at all times. But The Makeup Show only comes to Los Angeles once a year. And that time is upon us: The Makeup Show LA 2016 is March 19 and 20.

Why do I love (like, seriously love) The Makeup Show so much? In simple terms, it is THE must-attend event for makeup professionals. But in much wordier terms, please allow me to gush a little…

The pro-only event is “dedicated to Artistry, Networking, Community, Inspiration and Education.” Because it is pro-only, the crowd is smaller than some of the other makeup conventions. And because it is smaller, you really get to appreciate what the show offers. You can network with brands and beauty pros. There are hands-on workshops (for a fee) and seminars (free) with celebrity makeup artists throughout the weekend so you can learn new tricks and expand your makeup horizon. Many brands even showcase artists at work right at their booths. Basically, be prepared for people creating beauty ALL around you, from pretty spring trends to special-effects wizardry (as shown above and below.)

And there is lots and lots of shopping (much of it at discounted rates). Let’s elaborate on that, shall we? It’s pretty much a beauty lover’s dream. Just check out the exhibitors list. It’s all of the brands you want, none that you don’t. I love stocking up on my must-haves at discounted rates:
• whichever NARS The Multiple is running low
Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Powder Foundation
MAKE UP FOR EVER Sens’Eyes makeup remover
Ellis Faas concealer
But I also have a “must-check-out” list that’s getting longer by the day, and at the top of that is the James Vincent Stilazzi Metals eye shadow palette at the Frends counter.

There are two new events at the LA Show this year. The Gala kicks off on Friday, 3/18 at the historic Biltmore Hotel (my favorite DTLA hotel and the early home of the Academy Awards!) Celebrating the Femme Fetale and Old Hollywood Glamour, guests will get the chance to mix and mingle with makeup idols with a fun night of hors-d’oeuvres, drinking and dancing. Purchase tickets HERE.

And don’t the miss the Beauty Tour on Monday, 3/21. Hosted by James Vincent (who spending the day with is honestly worth the ticket price alone), you’ll tour the Max Factor exhibit at the Hollywood Museum, visit the fabulous NARS Melrose boutique, meet the eyebrow guru of Senna Cosmetics, Eugenia Weston and much, much more. See the whole itinerary and purchase tickets HERE.

When you combine it all, it’s a weekend packed with makeup, beauty and FUN. What could possibly be wrong with that?!
