Aww, freak out – MAC’s Trés Cheek is so chic!

MAC's Trés Cheek collectionphotos: we heart this

As some of you may have figured out by now, I’m the we heart this resident blush whore. One of my all-time favorite brands for blush is MAC – their formulas always blend seamlessly and naturally, and give amazing color payoff.

Imagine my delight when I discovered that they had a new collection, Trés Cheek dedicated just to powder blush! (I totally spun in a circle like Julie Andrews on a mountaintop. Then fell over because I got dizzy.)

MAC's Trés Cheek collection

MAC’s Trés Cheek collection has a blush for everyone – whether you favor a more natural look or if you like to amp up the drama, MAC has your back. Using a formula that’s both sheer and buildable, you can control just how rosy you dare to go.

Available in six shades ($20 each) and packaged in MAC’s standard black with a clear top; the colors of this collection are vivid and gorgeous. Even Goldilocks would definitely find a blush that’s “just right” among these beauties!

The wht team got a look at three hues:

Modern Mandarin with a bright and light red orange shade and shimmery satin finish

Modern Mandarin – Bright and light red orange with a shimmery satin finish

Peony Petal with a bright and cool pink shade

Peony Petal – Bright and cool blue pink, they call it a satin but it’s nearly a matte finish

Lovecloud with a mid-tone pink shade and a hint of coral, shimmery satin finish

Lovecloud – Mid-tone pink with a hint of coral and a shimmery satin finish

I was lucky enough to test both Lovecloud and Peony Petal. Let me tell you that not all pinks are created equal – each of these shades has its own distinct “personality”. Lovecloud reads as a warm pink, almost coral on my fair skin. Peony Petal is a vivid cool pink – probably the truest pink I’ve seen in a blush.

The satin finish on both of these really imparts a dewy finish that gives an ethereal and youthful glow. I didn’t think it possible, but MAC really took blush to the next level with this limited edition collection.

Rounding out the collection, but not reviewed here, are three more shades:
Pink Tea – Neutral beige pink (satin)
Immortal Flower – Bright peach (satin)
Full of Joy – Lavender (frost)

Word on the streets is that the Trés Cheek Collection, which debuted April 5th, has already sold out, but don’t fret just yet, their website states that all shades are “coming soon”. If you can’t wait for them to restock online, get thee to your local MAC counter pronto!

  1. Lovecloud looks AMAZING!!! I love MAC for their awesome and innovative products. But I hate them for making me spend sooooo much money!!! I need this blush I fear.

  2. True confession time. I swatched all three of these and planned on sending all 3 to @krista – resident blush whore and all. Then, I tried Modern Mandarin. And I heard angels sings. And one of those angels leaned down and whispered in my ear “hey you, you don’t own anything like that! Wouldn’t it be pretty all spring and summer?” And who am I to argue with angels? Truth is, it’s DIVINE. A bright but wearable orange shimmer. With a light hand, it’s just a flush of unexpected color. With a heavy hand, I look like a girl in the Addicted to Love video. Add that’s it’s soft and blendable…and it just had to be mine.

I highly recommend a trip to your nearest MAC store to scoop this up.

  3. I’m in love with Lovecloud! As the proud owner of pretty much every peachy-coraly-pink blush that I’ve ever met I must have it! I just started a new position at my company, celebration blush is in order. Thanks for the heads up @krista !

  4. I’m usually drawn towards pinks when it comes to blush, but Modern Mandarin is so pretty and different! I guess I’m going to have to take yet another trip to the MAC counter to check out all of these colors.

I love the image of you spinning like Julie Andrews, @krista !

  5. Oh i LOVE these! I think they are available on the site again. When I was at the MAC store about a month ago, these two sales associates were telling me about the new blush collection and how amazing it is. Low and behold, it’s pretty darn awesome :) I can’t decide which to get!

  6. I was in a local MAC yesterday (The Grove in Los Angeles) and they had all six shades available. Trust me when I say I do not NEED another blush, so I forced myself not to buy another one, but it was hard! The Pink Tea hue is so my type of shade – a sweet, soft, dusty pink that works really well with my coloring. Loved it. If I find myself in a MAC again soon I don’t know how I will resist it. And the LE aspect is just making me want to go get one – right now – heh.

Blush lovers, check this pretty collection out – you will be sure to find a shade or two that you love.

  7. @tyna – You ALWAYS need another blush. Just when you think you might have enough, you should buy another one just in case.

I think out of the two shades I tried, Peony Petal is probably the more unique of the two–it’s that perfect cool/somehow neutral pink that works beautifully with purple lip colors. I love a purple/plum lip and this looks amazing paired with these shades. I’m really excited that I got to test these babies out :)
