I’m all about cosmetics… I love shopping for them, testing them and trying new brands. But it’s not everyday I come across beauty products that make a positive impact on the world. MAKE Cosmetics is a beauty brand that’s making it very easy to look beautiful and “do good.”

Every time you MAKE a purchase, they donate one third of all dollar in sales to the We See Beauty Foundation, a nonprofit that helps fund women-led cooperatives in the United States. I am happy to purchase from a company that solves my beauty dilemmas and helps the community, so I was excited to try their products.

Each season MAKE will pair two unique artists to create a “concept collection.” Their current collection, New Medieval, is a collaboration between London-based designer Faye Toogood and makeup artist Ayami Nishimura. This collection celebrates “raw and elemental forces,” which you can definitely see in the products, particularly the eyeshadows.

MAKE matte eye shadow

Drawing inspiration from romantic landscapes, starry skies and stormy seas, MAKE’s Matte Finish Eyeshadows ($18), have a vast array of colors, 21 hues in all.

Darkness is an intense coal black and makes a big statement. These are ultra soft and get amazing coverage! I love how they come in sleek, little, individual compacts, to tuck away and store easily.

MAKE lipgloss

MAKE lipgloss

My favorite product, the Cream Luminous Lip Glosses ($18) are sturdy tubes, with a subtle minty flavor (that I am obsessed with). These glosses feature an hourglass-shaped applicator that made application a breeze. The formula is rich and creamy, not too thick. Date, the color I tested, is a divine clay brown, with peachy undertones.

The Silk Satin Lipsticks ($18), are packaged in chic jet black tubes, with a great contour shape, making application easy. Made with rosehip, soybean and safflower oils, they provide hydration to the lips throughout the day. I thought the formula was lightweight, and had a soft, creamy texture. Rose Chintz is a hot color for summer, with a pretty pearl-pink tint, and lasted all day!

If you’re looking to try a new powder foundation, MAKE’s Soft Focus Powder Foundation ($28.50) comes in 16 different colors , so you can find one that fits you perfectly. It’s a finely milled powder, packed with Vitamins C and E, for anti-oxidant benefits.

When applied dry, (I used a brush), it will give you light coverage. The cool part of this compact is the secret compartment, below the powder, that holds a sponge you can wet to create more coverage. I preferred it dry and liked the ultra smooth texture it gave me.

  1. @spitfire77 – Thank you for introducing me to this new cosmetics line. This is one of the great things about reading WHT you get to learn about companies you might not ever encounter. (Sometimes I tend to stick to the path well traveled and look for makeup in the same places.) I love the color of Rose Chintz for summer. It really drew me in.

    1. Love Rose Chintz, very pretty frosty pink!

  2. @spitfire77 , this is the first I’ve heard of MAKE, and after reading your review and checking out the colors, I’m sold. The gloss is available in so many beautiful colors, and I love that it’s minty— and how great that the company gives back. Thanks for putting MAKE on my radar!

  3. I was really happy with everything I tried from this line. My only slight disappointment was the lip gloss tube… It dropped one day out of my make up bag and the entire top came unglued from the base and couldn’t be fixed, so I would really like to see these in a solid tube without that trim piece at the top, that came off pretty easily. Can’t beat the fresh minty flavor though, and I love the colors!

  4. @spitfire77 thanks for giving me a “head’s up!” I love discovering new products before other people. I love the packaging and the colors. “Rose Chintz” could not be prettier. And the lipgloss looks luscious–so sorry that you had a defective tube. I’ll be on the make searching for these potential must-have products . . .

  5. I had heard of MAKE recently but haven’t actually tried any of their products. I really love the concept of a makeup company that gives back. I’m sad your lipgloss tube broke–I drop stuff all the time, so I might have to pass on that.

  6. OOO, that logo is gorgeous. And I adore that MAKE gives back, I really appreciate it when companies show how much they care. But, sadly, my favorite part of this post was to see that their powder foundation comes in 16 colors! I stick to MAC exclusively due to matching issues, but I love that even a young company realizes that us ladies come in more shades that Fair, Medium and Deep!

  7. Hearing about new makeup lines is one of my favorite things ever <3…The powder foundation sounds really cool and the lipstick has an awesome shape to it! I'll definitely be checking this line out.

  8. The frosty pink of Rose Chintz will look fantastic with a tan (from a bottle, of course)! And call me cheesy, but I appreciate lipsticks with funky/geometric shapes.
