As some of you may recall, my significant other has an unholy and sometimes obsessive love for peanut butter. This is a love that I share, albeit to a less weird and alarming degree. I will say that I am a bit of a peanut butter snob. It’s not that I totally shun plain peanut butter, but I tend to gravitate towards unique and wacky flavors. Fortunately, P.B. Loco offers several all-natural, crave-worthy peanut butters that fit the bill.

Founded in 2003 by lawyers Ken Hall, Jodene Jensen, and Keri Barney, P.B. Loco is a peanut butter company that caters to adults. Their website states “P.B. Loco is a peanut butter for adults who already know the scintillating pleasures of cold microbrews, left-of-the dial bands and independent movies. It’s for grownups who aren’t completely grown up and are averse to button-down shirts, closed-toe sandals, and life without a dog.” In other words, it’s our kind of company.

As if that wasn’t enough to appeal to your peanut butter-loving self, how about the fact that these peanut butters contain zero trans fats? That they use quality ingredients like premium European chocolate? That along with European chocolate, these peanut butters contain nutrients such as folate, niacin, copper, selenium, zinc, magnesium, and fiber? These peanut butters not only are tasty, but they’re good for you, too!

We received three tempting flavors to try: Peanut Butter with CocoaBanana, with Raspberry White Chocolate and with Chocolate-Chip Cookie Dough. Other notable combos include Peanut Butter with Asian Curry Spice, with Dark Chocolate and with Sumatra Cinnamon and Raisin.

Are you drooling yet? How about doing that weird tongue thing that dogs do when you feed them peanut butter? With varieties like these, there is a flavor for everyone. I was lucky enough to sample the Peanut Butter with Chocolate-Chip Cookie Dough. While I was sad to see that it lacked gobs of cookie dough and was instead cookie dough flavored, I do have to say it was delightful on bagels, fantastic on Ritz crackers, and wrongly good by the spoonful. I have an empty jar to prove just how fabulous this peanut butter was. Simply put, this peanut butter is addictive.

We’ve got a coupon code for you too! From now until October 15th, if you use HSCHN and order 5 jars, you get a 6th jar free (yes, you want this many). We’re told they’re a bit low on stock right now, It seems we’re not the only PB addicts. But they’ve assured us they should have full shelves by the end of this month.

Anybody else going crazy for P.B. Loco?

  1. Peanut butter with chocolate-chip cookie dough? What will they think of next? Sounds incredibly calorific and, yes, incredibly yummy!!

Something else I came across at Trader Joe’s the other day – and miraculously managed not to buy (I’m trying to diet!) – Peanut Butter & Jelly bars. As soon as I reach my goal weight, I’m treating myself to one (kinda defeats the purpose, I know, but if the thought of getting my hands on one spurs me on, so be it!!!)

  2. Lesley, you would love this stuff! I am only mildly ashamed to admit that I single-handedly finished a jar of the peanut butter with chocolate chip cookie dough in a little over a week. It was so good on Ritz crackers…I would have given it 5 stars, but since the peanut butter was more of a cookie dough flavor instead of containing chunks of cookie dough, I deducted a star. This would have been wrongly awesome with cookie dough chunks :) Now I want to try the Cocoa Banana flavor because I’ve been loving all things chocolate and banana lately. How good would that be on an Eggo waffle with banana slices on top? Yep. I need to do some grocery shopping…

  3. Well, slap my ass and call me Elvis! Cause me and the King have something in common. We love a good PB and Banana sandwich. So when I saw the jar of Peanut Butter with CocoBanana, I knew it was specifically for me. Because what could possibly make PB and Banana more better than Chocolate? Let’s face it, Chocolate makes everything better!

This is soooooo good. Did my extra o’s let you know just how good? REALLY good! The Chocolate is actually Chocolate Liquor. It doesn’t taste boozy though, just chocolatey. And it has pieces of Banana in it (dried, I believe) along with some extra Banana flavoring. And chunks of Peanuts.

It’s insanely good on toast, delicious on apples, but my favorite recipe involves only a spoon! I have devoured at least half the jar by just that way alone. I found myself finding reasons to visit the cupboard.

As a note, I heard rumblings of people on the internet and even a family member who had some a few years ago thinking PB Loco taste artificial. I didn’t get that all. It tasted like natural PB to me, only better thanks to the add ins.

5 stars from me. I wish I lived near one of their cafes!

  4. I agree you want 6 jars.. use the code!!! It is that good!
I tried out and finished off a jar of Peanut Butter with Raspberry White Chocolate… holy cow…I can’t even tell you how good it is. Chunks of German white chocolate, with a hint of sweet raspberry, all fused together with the smoothest peanut butter this side o’ texas. WOW I tried it by the spoonful first, and after several of them, because as Krista said, it’s addictive, I tried it on crackers. I need to order more to try it in cookie formation. Any one of these would make amazing peanut-butter cookies.

And Stef I totally agree, it tasted like natural peanut butter to me too, creamy and good.

5 stars from me too.. it’s going to be a Peanut Butter Christmas!

  5. As a bonafide peanut butter lover. I was excited to try the PB LOCO cookie dough. It was very good on crackers, and I bet it would make some really awesome peanut butter cookies. I would have preferred that it contained full chunks of cookie dough.

  6. OMG I am starving for the CocoBanana one.. time to bust out the visa card!!!!
lol but seriously it sounds amazing!!!

  7. wow! I really to try the CocoBanana one and the White Chocolate Rasberry! OMG

  8. Ok, I just learned something I want to share. My Peanut Butter with CocoBanana had Chocolate Liquor in it, which I noted didn’t taste boozy. Duh, no wonder. It’s not booze! I just watched a show on the history channel about Chocolate (I’m avoiding packing) and I found out that chocolate liquor is a combination of cocoa solids and cocoa butter, produced when cacao beans are processed to make chocolate products. In the PB, it’s a thick liquid ribbon of what taste like a very rich dark chocolate.

    Look at me, learning stuff!
