Happy Earth Day to our we heart this readers! One thing we’ve noticed over the last year or so is that a large percentage of our audience tries to do their best to make everyday Earth Day. From recycling your beauty packaging and shunning paper/plastic bags (thanks to your ever growing pile of cute totes) to ditching the plastic (and expensive) water bottles and installing a water filter in your kitchen – our readers are always thinking green.
While I been on the natural and organic beauty train for years, I’ve recently moved some of my beauty shopping policies to my cleaning products. So it was with a shout of joy that I opened a box from the queen of hard working and natural cleaning supplies, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Household Cleaners.
I’ve been a fan of this super effective and fantastic smelling brand since I first discovered the Lemon Verbena All Purpose Cleaner and I owe it all to my step-wiener dog. Housemate Eric and I noticed that Leto seemed to regularly have doggie belly troubles (I’ll spare you the details) a day or two after our apartment was cleaned. Once we made the connection between scrubbing days and bad-belly days, it all became so clear.
If you have pets or little kids, you soon realize there isn’t a single surface in your home that doesn’t interact with what goes in your little ones mouth. Tiny hands seem to go directly from countertops and table surfaces into the mouth and anything found on the floor gets immediately licked. The wiener dog’s constant trolling for crumbs and consumption of every speck dropped on the floor, led to an ingestion of harsh cleaning chemicals which caused poor Leto’s troubles.
Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day to the rescue! That would be Thelma Meyer to be exact. Yep, Mrs. Meyer’s is a real person and this line of natural and effective cleaners was started by her daughter (one of her nine children) in honor of her hard working Mom.
All of the Mrs. Meyer’s products use naturally, plant-derived ingredients (instead of harsh chemicals), to clean and shine your home. You know the phrase “that floor is clean enough to eat off of it” – well now it’s true! Your floor and other surfaces will be germ free, and more importantly, because you didn’t use nasty chemicals, safe for pets and kids.
You will find many other earth friendly qualities in the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day line. All products are packaged in recyclable packaging, use natural essential oils to produce their fresh scents, have concentrated formulas and are biodegradable or “break down into nonharmful decomposition products.”
Our lucky review team cleaned house with the following Mrs. Meyer’s products:
• Clean Day Dish Soap in the Basil scent. You only need a squirt of two of this concentrated dish cleaner for all of your dishes. This dish liquid contains Soap Bark Extract, a natural degreaser, to help cut through the grime and leave sparkling dishes behind.
• All Purpose Cleaner in Geranium. This fantastic, all purpose cleaner can be used on almost any surface in your home. The concentrated formula (just add water and start scrubbing) means this bottle lasts and lasts. The natural geranium fragrance is fresh and intoxicating and makes me actually look forward to cleaning – just to experience that subtle, lingering scent.
• Countertop Spray in Lavender. This fantastic, spray cleaner will be used all day, every day, in the busiest rooms of your house. Keep bathroom and kitchen counters clean, germ free and sparkling with this multi-use spray.
• Liquid Laundry Detergent in the Lemon Verbena and Geranium scents. I had to get my hands of the unbelievably fresh scented geranium detergent which keeps my clothes (and closet) smelling bright and clean. One small bottle of this concentrated, biodegradable liquid contains 64 loads worth of detergent!
• Dryer Sheets in the Lemon Verbena and Geranium scents. I also checked out the dryer sheets in the matching scent. These sheets contain a vegetable-derived softening agent and essential oils on a biodegradable paper sheet, keeping clothes static free and infused with Mrs. Meyer’s signature scents.
Don’t forget to check the comments for the we heart this review team’s thoughts and experiences with the products listed above.

Love Mrs. Meyer’s products. I’ve been using them for years. I’m a lucky girl cause I can pick up this brand at my local grocery store. I LOVE the Countertop Cleaner in lavendar. It smells wonderful and I use it to wipe down all my counters in the kitchen and bathrooms. It not only leaves your countertops clean, but also leaves them smelling amazing. The dish soap is equally as divine! I would love to try the dryer sheets too. I love yummy smelling laundry. Unfortunately my store doesn’t carry those.
Have I been living under a rock? I’ve never even heard of Mrs. Meyer’s products, and they sound fabulous! Even better, according to their website’s store locater, the products are carried by pretty much every supermarket and hardware store in my city. I’m going to start with the All Purpose Cleaner. Thanks for the Earth Day inspiration, Tyna!
Tyna! That is so funny! I also switched from my hazardous household cleaners to Ms Meyers because of my pets.
I knew that my kitties would continue to walk on counter tops and tables and then lick their paws so began looking for a more natural alternative to my Clorox..I was immediately won over with the great scents like Lavender and Verbena. Yay for Ms Meyers!
I love Mrs. Meyers! I use the dish soap and love the scent. The detergent sounds great but I’m afraid to try it out because my skin reacts weird to scents. Does anyone know if it is easy on the skin and not too over powering?
I tested and loved the Countertop Spray in Lavender.
I have been a fan and user of Mrs. Meyers for quite awhile now and was so excited to see a bottle in for testing! WOW!!
Thany you Mrs. Meyers and WHT :)
The Lavender counter spray works really well, I cook all the time and am forever splashing sauces on my counter top. This spray cleans up even the most stubborn spills.
I have this in Basil too, which is my all time favorite Mrs. Meyers scent…but the Lavender is amazing as is the Geranium.
I have tried the dish soap, detergent, hand soap, counter spray, all purpose cleaner, and her shower cleaner….told you I was a fan :) They are all five star products!
If you have yet to try Mrs. Meyers I highly recommend you get yourself some as an earth day present :) And if you have dogs who lick the floor, my pup is with Leto… green clean is a must & Mrs. Meyers is totally the way to go.
5 happy lavender stars from me!!
I adore Mrs Meyers products! I live near a couple of grocery stores that carry it. I have to say, doing the dishes is a much more enjoyable past time when you’re breathing in lavendar!
MMmmm, Mrs. Meyers! I received the dishsoap in Basil. I’d like to say this is the first time I’ve tried Mrs. Meyers and was swept off my feet; however, I’ve used these cleaning products for years. Geranium is my favorite countertop scent, Lemon Verbena WAS my favorite for dishes (until I tried the sweet, green scent of Basil). I like Lavender laundry detergent and dryer sheets. The cleansers are gentle, non-irritating, and the scent of the essential oils in beyond compare. This product is well worth the extra $ for the peace of mind that comes with using a natural product, as well as the aromatherapy extras. Why smell Pine Sol or ammonia fumes when your kitchen/bathroom/dishes/laundry can smell like a garden in springtime? Really.
I have Mrs. Meyer’s Dryer Sheets in Lemon Verbena. I thougth they added a unique fresh scent to our laundry. I love the smell of clean clothes, and you know how great lemon is! I love that they are biodegradable- as much as i love the way my other sheets smell, they are not biodegradable! I would love to get a few other items from Mrs. Meyer’s now! I give it four stars.
I need some Mrs. Meyer’s in my life! I’ve tried several other eco-friendly cleaning products but for some reason I have yet to try these. This review sealed the deal–I need to get those Lemon Verbena dryer sheets! My goodness, I love lemon verbena and I would love for my clothes to smell like it too. :)
Count me as a member of the Mrs. Meyers Fan club! I have bought the countertop spray and the bar soap in Geranium. It’s such a great scent, flowery but not too overpowering. And in the case of the countertop spray, it doesn’t linger heavily in the air. I like things to smell clean, but hate when the kitchen smells like food and soap.
For this review, I got to test the laundry soap in Lemon Verbena. Yum! Can you say that about a laundry soap? I just did. I love the scent, fresh and citrus-y with a hint of herb. And just like the geranium, it’s not a heavy scent. It just smells clean, which is exactly how it makes my laundry smell.
Love that it’s concentrated, Love the cute packaging, LOVE that it’s natural. I only wish that they sold it in my grocery store. The sprays and soaps seem a bit easier to find.
Mrs. Meyers gets 5 squeaky clean stars from me!

LOVE Mrs. Meyer’s and have been buying it for a few years now. They actually now sell it at Target if anyone out there is having a hard time finding it. I’ve used the hand soaps in pretty much every sent basil, Lemon Verbena, geranium, lavender and even the holiday pine! Which by the way, i wish they carried that one year round because its great for kitchens. All of them smell great but like mentioned above they’re far from being over powering. They linger just enough, but are strong enough to get things clean. I’ve used the spray cleaner and love that too! I received the All purpose house cleaner in geranium which is my favorite scent out of all of them. i actually thought they discontinued that scent because i couldn’t find it anywhere for a bit. But anyway as with all their other products this one is great. I didn’t even think of it being better for my pets! I always buy this brand, its a little more expensive but oh so worth it. My next stop is the laundry detergent. i want my clothes to smell like geranium too!
Oh, I just got to try the Basil scent. It is FABULOUS, so light and fresh. Perfect for the kitchen. Love!

I have been using Mrs. Meyer’s Geranium for a couple of years and love it. I have the laundry detergent, dryer sheets, dish soap, and counter top cleaner. It truly does make housework more pleasant when you can enjoy the scent. I’m hooked.
Five stars
Welcome to we heart this Dianne! I’m with you – the geranium is my very fave Mrs Meyers scent (followed by the Lemon Verbena). I just purchased my first Meyers Dish Soap – in the Lemon Verbena – and I love it. Most natural dish soaps have little foam and feel sort of oily – my pans never felt clean (cue clutching of pearls and dramatic commercially music) but this one is nice and foamy and gets things squeaky clean.
I bought the Mrs. Meyers bathroom cleaner… I think in Lemon Verbena.. I can’t recall and I’m not going in my bathroom to check at this point. I just sprayed down my shower and I’m dying. The spray is harder on my lungs than tilex and I’m not even remotely sensitive to those kind of things. I LITERALLY coughed so hard I threw up. I hope the rest of the cleaners are less harsh otherwise I couldn’t imagine using them on a daily basis. My cousin and I bought them at the same time while shopping we found a great sale, I just called her and she said she had the exact same problem and stopped using hers. I waited until my old cleaner was gone before using this so I certainly wasn’t expecting this.
