Adriatic Lipstick and Corsica Lipgloss swatches and review
To me, anything really interesting has a little edge, and this includes beauty collections. Not too much edge, mind you. I’m an adult now, and the days of my makeup scaring loved ones around the Christmas tree are a distant memory. No, just a little edge, a glimmer of something beyond the ordinary.
Which is why I am so excited about the NARS Laced With Edge collection, a cutting edge and limited edition holiday line designed to shake up the season in beautiful ways.
The stunning custom packaging incorporates architectural designer Chris Kabatsi’s digitally-rendered Nebula prints into a lacey design NARS calls “dynamic yet delicate.” I think this should be the catchphrase for the entire collection, if the two lip products I sampled are any indication.
The NARS Laced with Edge Hardwired Lipsticks ($26) are a new formulation in limited edition shades created just for this release. NARS promises that Hardwired “fuses cutting-edge pigments with a high-impact, futuristic sheen.”
I tried Adriatic (Glistening Soft Cream), a disconcertingly pale pinky-beige with a creamy-yet-almost weightless formula.

The feel was so unique, as if I hadn’t applied anything at all, yet the color was obvious on my lips. Adriatic is one of those startlingly pale colors that sort of erases my lips, great for pairing with a dramatic eye. Adriatic is almost opaque, but has a metallic sheen that keeps it from looking cakey. Lana Del Rey would love it.
NARS Laced With Edge also brings us a selection of Lip Glosses ($26) in sheer, semi-sheer and creamy formulas. Beyond the exterior packaging, I also really loved the doe-footed applicator, which is small and precise.
There are three limited edition hues and I tried creamy Corsica (Shimmering Pink Raspberry), a warm plum with a hint of golden gleam.

NARS promises ultra-smooth comfort thanks to a formula enriched with Vitamin E. There is so much pigment in Corsica, it feels more like liquid lipstick than gloss. Long-wearing for a gloss but not drying at all; in fact, my lips felt hydrated and smooth.
Pros:
• Hardwired Lipstick has the most lightweight formula I’ve ever experienced in a lipstick
• Lip Gloss is creamy and moisturizing, and comes in a range of beautiful colors for the holidays and beyond
• Bold packaging design is gorgeously futuristic
Con:
• Limited edition and going fast.

I almost spit out my coffee, when I read the line about no longer scaring your loved ones around the Christmas tree with your makeup! Too funny! Love that Corsica gloss!
Girl, I wish we could post photo comments so I could show you my teenage idea of beauty. Black lipstick, ho ho ho!
I just can’t get excited about Nars lipsticks anymore. I have bought many of them and they ALL go rancid: sticky and stinky and unusable, and I have to throw them out and I feel like a sucker. My Chanel lipsticks also go rancid. I never have this problem with any other brand. I still have Revlon and Loreal lipsticks from the 90s that are still good.
I love the idea of beauty with a little edge, although I still love thinking about scary teen makeup, too! Adriatic looks really cool–I add edge with a dark cat eye most days, and Adriatic might be a great counterpoint. Also, Lana DR and Courtney Love are touring together next year; my sister and I have taken to calling this “the fabulous hot mess tour” and are are kind of dying to see them together, haha.
I hadn’t heard about the Lana/Courtney tour, @amity ! I’ll be on the lookout for sure!
Love the lip gloss shade but am leery of any lipstick in nude. I am interested in trying out a different color, just because of the way you described it!
Great post, @turboterp! I am so on the fence about Corsica–it looks like such a gorgeous color, but I’m wondering how similar it is to Dolce Vita? Like, are they different enough that I need both? Hmmm…*ponders*
That packaging is so elegant!!! And that lipgloss is such a nice classic color. I haven’t been a huge fan of NARS glosses in the past, but that one is so pretty.
