A pretty gloss that’s good for your lips and free of nasty chemicals

Spring just seems to call for a new lipgloss, doesn’t it? It you are on the prowl for a new lippie, make sure to check out the new tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss. The latest addition to the LipSurgence line is a lovely lip gloss that offers a nice balance of natural tint and hydration, as well as some good for you lips ingredients.

These ready for spring glosses are packed with healthy anti-oxidants and tons of shine, plus they are paraben-free. The formula includes Vitamin E as an emollient and a natural preservative, and Jojoba oil to smooth and soothe lips.

The gorgeous tarte LipSurgence Lip Glosses ($19) plumps up lips ever so slightly, but without the sting and burn that some other glosses have. They also help fight the signs of aging by smoothing the look of fine lines and wrinkles, while hydrating dry lips.

The formula is just right – not too sticky, and not too slick – which means it has about average staying power on my lips. The applicator is oversized and at 0.27oz, the $19 price tag is reasonable. They’re marketed as having a vanilla scent, but it’s faint.

tarte LipSurgence glosses are available in nine different shades (tarte’s color description is in parentheses below, which honestly, are mostly off! ~stef)

tarte-lipsurgence-Blushing-Bride

Blushing Bride (mauve pink) – flushed mauve pink
Flush (berry rose) – bright, creamy pink
Natural Beauty (sheer shimmering red) – sheer wash of red with gold glimmer

Blissful (warm peach) – light creamy apricot
Exposed (nude rose) – sheer yet dark pinky nude
Fearless (shimmering pink coral) – reddish coral with golden glitter

tarte-lipsurgence-True-Love

Tipsy (sheer coral) – very sheer light pinkish coral
Park Ave. Princess (shimmering golden nude) – warm medium nude with gold glitter

I love the variety, and the glosses are slightly buildable too. Let’s take a look at the four I tried out in action!

I liked all four hues, but I think Natural Beauty is my favorite. Tipsy gives a translucent slightly milky glossy look to my lips. I didn’t detect much coral on my lips, even though it appears that way in the tube.

I found all these shades to just be so wearable! There’s really something for anyone looking for just a bit of color and maybe a little shimmer. Their versatility makes these good staples to have on hand, whether you’re at work or out with the girls.

Compared to the Maracuja Lipglosses, which come as a clickpen with brush applicator, these LipSurgence glosses are easier to use and offer more ounces of product for your money. Additionally, the LipSurgence glosses are less sticky and have slightly more pigmentation than the Maracuja glosses (but varies by shade).

Overall, I think these are great basic glosses for everyday wear, which is exactly what tarte was going for!

  1. Not usually just because its spring but whenever I see one I can’t live without :) Love these shades, I think I need to make up an excuse to go shopping now.

  2. I love the formula for the new tarte LipSurgence lip-gloss! I have blushing bride and have been happily wearing it everyday! Glad to see that tarte uses good ingredients too, which really means a lot to me! I also am eyeing up and down the others, especially Park Ave. Princess! love the shine and nude look of that too!
I find it a bit tacky but seriously, whose lip-glosses aren’t? I feel silly even saying it! $19.00 bucks is worth it!

  3. Oh, I also like the shape of the applicator wand for this lip-gloss.. Makes it really easy to apply without looking! :)

  4. Yes to all of them, because it is way too hard to just pick a couple! I love Tarte products and these glosses look like yet another winner!

  5. I’m crazy about these glosses! I have Natural Beauty and Flushed, but want the whole collection. I love how moisturized they make my lips feel, even after the color is gone. :)

  6. I have Fearless and Park Ave. Princess – and they are pretty much the only glosses I’ve been wearing since they arrived! Fearless adds a beautiful sheen of red/coral/gold shimmer to my lips that just seems to work with any makeup color combo. And Park Ave. Princess is the nude that dreams are made of! Warm and nicely pigmented, with the gold beautifully shimmering over anything it touches. Honestly, if you are a nude lip fan: YOU NEED THIS.

The formula is really nice too, as @lipglossandspandex said. Not too sticky, not too slick, good wearing power.

The only thing I don’t like too much is the scent, which is a kind of plastic-y vanilla. But luckily it fades quick. (and I also have a super sensitive nose, so it may not be an issue for you.)

    Love, love, LOVE these.

  7. I really am looking for a new red. So, I am drawn to True Love. I prefer things without the chemicals so this is up my alley.

  8. Great post and pics, @lipglossandspandex !

I’m having such a hard time figuring out which one of these I want, they’re all so pretty! I think I have it narrowed down between Flush and True Love. Maybe. Who are we kidding? I want all of them! Curses!

  9. What a great review!! I am totally on fire to check these glosses out. I have always been a huge fan of Tarte. It looks like they have done it again. The colors are gorgeous and the formula sounds super comfortable to wear.
