It wasn’t all just a fabulous dream! Behold – my John Frieda makeover video from our recent New York trip. You read the backstory; how Tyna and I were amongst the five bloggers whisked away to the big apple by Glam and John Frieda for makeovers featuring Precision Foam Colour. Now see it in technicolor!
As evident from my giant grin, this experience truly was a dream come true. The joy of hearing the words “modern career woman” followed by “Mad Men” as Glam fashion editor Nola described the look they were giving me. The rush of happiness I felt when Glam beauty editor India said “Perfection!” when I walked out of the dressing room in my suit and leopard print heels. The thrill of meeting and spending the day with John Frieda’s International Creative Consultant Harry Josh (can you see now why we all loved him from the first moment we met him?) It was an epic day.
But as is the case with all makeover montages, they eventually have to end. Luckily, John Frieda’s products have prevented me from turning back into my sad “before” self! I’ve colored my hair twice with Precision Foam Colour since our makeover in late September, and I have to say the ease of use is phenomenal.
That’s my shade on the right, 10B Extra Light Beige Blonde
I used to dread dying my hair, knowing that it was always going to be such a production: move the throw rugs, dig out the “hair dye t-shirt”, labor away at making sure I got every strand. Those days are gone. Precision Foam Colour is SO easy; no drips, just tons of foam that easily fills in every square inch of my roots. Dare I say, it’s even kind of fun to dye my hair now?
And thanks to a care package that arrived, I’ve been continuing the upkeep of my color with Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Shampoo and Conditioner. Both products have a lingering light, clean scent thanks to sunflower and green tea. But best of all, it really does add an extra dimension to my color. This smart duo seems to know exactly what do to; tone down brassiness, brighten roots that might be popping through – enhancing my light blonde hair to a shade I’ve never achieved before from a box and a drugstore.
I end my video by saying “I love my new hair, it’s bright and beautiful and I couldn’t be happier.” And it’s a sentiment I echo today. My makeover dream is now an everyday reality thanks to John Frieda!

Stef is many things. Amongst them: co-editor of we heart this, graphic designer, Philly girl in the California desert, borderline hoarder and a hardcore beauty junkie.
I want to be the first to say that this video was awesome to watch! You shot really well and look radiant! Really beautiful @stef! You sure do clean up well!! I think they did a great job with the video too! COOL! Wow, John Frieda’s makeover and hair color looks stunning on you!
Aww, radiant? Thanks @irene
THIS IS SO FUN! My favorite part is that sassy look you give the camera, @stef, right before you reveal. It’s like you’re saying, “Oh, yeah, y’all….this is gonna be good.”
And I said it before, but that color is perfect for you. I’m a convert to John Frieda’s Foam Color because of your and Tyna’s post, it looks so natural, but BETTER!
Oh, that’s my favorite moment too – thanks for noticing it! XO.
“Martinis on me”… love it! Your entire look is a dream, @stef ! Are you tempted to dress that way every day now? I would be!
And I can’t believe the color results you got from the John Frieda foam. Is it really as easy as it looks? I’m ready to give it a try.
That’s my second favorite moment! It’s funny too because I was convinced my wrap up with the fabulous team was hella dorky – and it was actually cute. Big ol’ sigh of relief! Thanks for the kind words.
And yes, it really is as easy as it looks. Game changing, I tell ya!
That suit’s amazin’. They had you pegged, but certainly not Peggy-ed. You sound almost shy…I’ve never seen you that way. Great job by you with the ad, and them with the makeover. The blonde is spectacular.
“pegged, not peggy-ed” @sherrishera – you are my favoite wordsmith! Thanks for the kind words.
@stef – The suit they picked for you is totally you! I think they should have added a belt to really accentuate your silhouette as you have a really pretty silhouette (you have curves where I am a stick! Show them off!)
Your hair color really suits you too!
Thanks @katezena – it’s a va-va-voom kinda suit, isn’t it? Vintage styling suits us curvy gals.A lot of modern styles make me like a giant!
very cool stef! I just got a coupon for a free package of this from Rite Aid. now I will definitely have to try it for sure!
@snapdragonz08 – perfect time to try! Thanks for your kind words and comment :)
I love watching makeovers, but it was especially fun seeing you, @Stef! And your makeover looks fabulous. :) John Freida makes some great products–I’ve been using the 3 Day Straight spray and love it.
Makeovers are so fun, aren’t they? I can’t even begin to describe the joy of being the recipent! Thanks for the sweet words @lipglossandspandex
Great video, and great products. I like watching videos about all girly stuff:):)
I loved this video Stef! You look fantastic and I really should try John Freida products more :) I’ll be on the lookout.
Thanks @mandabear! XO.
I really love John Freida’s color care products, I’ve used their shampoos when I was blonde, red, brown, black, and even pink (I used the blonde shampoos) and they really do help the color stick around and give tons of vibrancey and shine. I haven’ t the foam colors because of skin allergies but I know people who have, and this is certainly a product I will be recommending to anyone and everyone from now on.
@pinkshaya – I hadn’t used a color specific color care product in a while. But they really do help keep you bright, don’t they?
Gorgeous!!! So cool to see you and Tyna in action. Hair, clothes, makeup – everything is stunning on you – and I think I’m sold now on this product, much to the chagrin of my very pricey hair stylist, I’m sure – great job!!
Glad you liked it @melinda! XO.
Love this! Looks like it was so much fun and you both look great! I will definitly have to give the color a try…I already told my mom to check it out too, since she colors at home regularly!
@spitfire77 – If your Mom is a home colorist, I think she’ll be pleased. Thanks for the nice words!
Fierce is right! You both look stunning and I can’t wait to try the product myself.
Thanks Michele, for the comment and for saying we’re fierce!
You ended up like a cross between Betty and Joan–your hair is just killer–those waves really suit your face. What eye shadow did they use on you b/c it has magical properties? You have gorgeous eyes to begin with, but it really emphasized them.
I’m really impressed with how your color turned out–I’ve seen blonde go horribly wrong (like that one time I tried it), but this looks really natural and fresh on you.
Gorgeous!
Thanks @krista! Half Betty/Half Joan is a lovely compliment. Nam Vo, the makeup artist used MUFE star powder on my eyes. Both pearl gold and yellow gold. And Sephora black liquid liner, which she said is her favorite.
Check her out, she’s awesome: makeupnv.com
Stef you look great!!! I’m going to have to grab some of the Frieda dye when I dye my hair next – It looks so easy to use!
