we really heart this – the funniest posts of ’09

Normally, I’ve found people who have to tell you how funny they are, actually are cringe-worthy unfunny. But, I’m going to risk it today, because I think we’ve posted a couple of stories this past year that were damn funny! (And that’s not to mention our wht readers who added some hysterical thoughts in the comments.)
So, we’re closing out our Best of ’09 Week with a look at the posts that gave the biggest laughs in 2009:
I wear black on the outside cause black is how I feel on the inside…
The best photo I saw all year was this one of the Prime Minister of Spain’s family, including two teenage goths posing at a State Dinner (top left image) with President Obama and wife, Michelle. The wht verdict? These black velvet clad, perfectly pale girls in their goth finest cracked us up and melted our hearts all at once. We think these baby goths will look back at this photo in the future and smile, unlike Stef and I who cringe our way through the following post…
Supermarket Sweep Losers
We shared one of my most mortifying moments when we uploaded the television debut of Stef and I on…drum roll please…Supermarket Sweep. That’s the two of us (lower right) “planning” our strategy; in reality we are both obsessing over the fact that we had to wear those hideous yellow sweatshirts (complete with pop-out white collars. Click through to YouTube to watch the wht founders on Supermarket Sweep – see Tyna catch a terrible case of “Cindy Brady Red Light Syndrome” and Stef’s heroic race through the store! Salami anyone?
Sex and the Single Girl book review
We’ve already mentioned that Krista has been cracking us up all year long with her hilarious posts, but I think her review of the classic 1960’s guide to life by Helen Gurley Brown was her funniest moment. Thanks to Krista’s exhaustive research we learned all about the great married, wealthy men to be found at alcoholics anonymous meetings, to always stock your bathroom with two smokes and an ashtray for your man’s after dinner needs (once again, eww) and discovered the Best Crash Diet Ever (it involves a bottle of white wine a day!) Order your own copy of Sex and The Single Girl at Amazon.
Uh-oh…food poisoning
While it’s never nice to point and laugh at the misfortunes of others, the “Monsters of Rock” Food Poisoning Tale passed down from some friends in our youth is just too good not to pass along. Read this cautionary tale and shake your head at the stupidity; then share the worst food decision you have ever made in the comments…everyone has their own story!
In search of Nutthugger
All right, technically we posted this one in 2008, but since we only existed for one month that year, I’m including it in this year’s ode to the funny. You’ll have to read the entirety of this hand written note, (lower left) found on the floor of a bar in New Orleans, to truly appreciate it. Let’s just say we’re still delighted over the overall message of this pink scrawled note, its ADD like changes of topics and tone, and we giggle every time we can slip the term “Nutthugger” into everyday conversation!
Happy New Year to all of our we heart this readers!

Supermarket Sweep was and remains fricken hilarious.. just watched again and laughed so hard I farted and nearly fell of my chair.. What a classic!
Your faces speak volumes of who you are today..thanks for the chuckle!
OMG, that was you on Supermarket Sweep? I used to watch that show everyday when I was little! I loved how you added in, “Come on Tyna, spit it out!”
Those yellow sweaters are horrendous! Ah, the 90s!
My favorite funny post had to be Krista’s Sex and the Single Girl book review. Learned so much and laughed so hard. Wonder if I can get that one on my kindle?
Oh, Tiffany, you really need that book. It is a time capsule of hilarity!
Krista just ordered it! Found it on ebay. Too bad it’s not on the kindle though.
Krista that review was hilarious!! Definitely one of my top two..yours and Supermarket Sweep!! :)
OMG, I love that Supermarket Sweep clip! I just love how Stef is almost Care Bear Staring at Tyna when she’s trying to make her get the answers. It’s priceless!
Tiffany—you’ll have to let me know how you like the book—it’s spectacular :)
