Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation review

Shh…I’ve got a makeup junkie’s secret to share, I’ve never liked foundation. The combo of feeling heavy, then virtually slipping off my oily skin made me abandon it years ago with the advent of tinted moisturizers. Lucky for me, that same oily (Italian) skin that I curse most times has actually blessed me with pretty nice skin. Still, I do get pangs for full coverage.

Meet the product that can send the pangs packing: Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation%name Forget Immaculate Conception, Hourglass gives us a foundation miracle!.

This little miracle in a sleek bottle takes care of a whole bunch of my needs with just one pump. First of all, it’s oil free so I don’t have to worry about adding anything to my existing slick. But not only is it free of oil, it actually absorbs it and leaves behind a matte finish. Pretty impressive right? Oh, honey – it’s just getting started!

Call this the little foundation that could, because it’s also anti aging. It has “clinical levels” of two of nature’s wrinkle busters. Phytostem Edelweiss comes from a Himalayan plant and is said to slow collagen loss and reduce wrinkle depth by 15% after 20 days of use. And Lavandox, an ingredient extracted from Spanish lavender, that not only reduces the appearance of wrinkles by 11% after 24 hours of application, it inhibits muscle contractions that lead directly to fine lines and wrinkles (nature’s botox maybe?)

Finally, there’s the coverage. Immaculate Foundation has a liquid to powder finish. It glides on with the light as air feel of a primer. Then, dries quickly to a velvety, matte finish (rather quickly actually, so either work in sections or very fast). What you’re left with is full coverage that doesn’t feel like it at all. AND, it eliminates the need for powder. So it’s a multi-tasker too. A good one at that, I get through a work day without a touch up or even a pat of powder!

On the con side: there are only eight shades, so some might find trouble matching. It’s also $55, which is an ouch of a purchase. But if you have a oily or blemish-prone complexion Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation%name Forget Immaculate Conception, Hourglass gives us a foundation miracle! may just make you say hallelujah!

This looks FANCY. And I’m all for spending the money, if it’s worth the price. But a matte finish??? GIMMEE.
But really, Hourglass? You only go up to Warm Beige? AND it’s not in stock, so you know it’s in demand. Come on now, think of the naturally dark (and “natural” from a bottle, lamp or spray) ladies…

Well add another item to my To Buy List – I’m always testing out different foundations (it’s so hard to find the perfect match and formula!) and this one sounds amazing. If @stef is raving, I know it’s a keeper. She is such a picky foundation/tinted moisturizer/SPF person – formulas I think are light and airy, she’s all “it’s too heavy!” So Hourglass has just shot to the top of my short list – time to get to Sephora and check it out. I need a nice summer foundation – and the matte finish sounds like heaven for the hot months ahead.

Oh wow, I want that! Even though I’m loving the Tarte foundation I just reviewed, this one by Hourglass looks amazing. I have oily, blemish prone skin so if this can make me matte like you said @stef, I will totally be willing to spend the money and just use it for special occasions like Mel said! Hope I can find one to match my skin tone.

@stef – I have my share of foundation. However, there is not a single one that really SPEAKS TO ME and says “Come Hither I am THE one.” I would so love to fall in love with one foundation.

I went to Sephora this week for Spring makeup shopping. But, I did not see any Hourglass . . . perhaps it is only at select locations.

Wow…$55 for foundation. That’s past my threshold of what I can justify.
My favorite foundation EVER was L’Oreal’s Air Wear or Translucide foundations–I don’t know why they were discontinued because they made my skin look flawless.
I think my favorite non-drugstore foundation of all-time would be Vincent Longo’s Water Canvas creme-to-powder foundation. Unfortunately, I think it went up in price and they don’t seem to offer the 30% sales they used to.
Anyhoo, $55 for foundation…DANG. Too bad, because it sounds amazing. *sigh*

I tried this and loved it. I did think it was a tad pricey, but worth it. Was even going to purchase a second bottle, but Sephora was out of my shade :( Had to use something different this time around. I have a love hate relationship with the bottle. Love the pump, but hate that I couldn’t tell when it was going to run out. All the sudden it was just gone. I like to have fair warning when my product is about to be headed for the trash. Overall, I would buy this again if I could just find my darn shade. I loved the coverage and a little went a long way. Beautiful matte finish like Stef said.

I know $55 is tough. But I think you have to remember the multi-tasking aspects of it. You don’t need powder and it’s got anti-aging ingredients, so possibly – you can save with skincare too (or at least get by with lower end items). I personally didn’t see the need for a primer with this either (though primer addicts may disagree).
