DIY: Clutch Purse

Turn an old or unused wallet into a customized clutch purse!

Purses are a great statement piece that can complete an outfit, which is probably why I own so many and I keep buying or creating more. I love this DIY because it allows me to can keep all my cards and money organized when I’m out on the town and it still looks like a clutch purse.

You can use different supplies for this project if studs are not your thing. Shiny gems or sequins would look great for a wedding or party (and can be found at any local craft store) or try a pretty ribbon in place of the elastic for a different texture that pops against the wallet. Just remember the most important thing is to have fun and be creative!

Supplies:
Wallet
Elastic
Studs
Scissors
Pliers
Glue gun (or super glue)

Tip: Check vintage stores and yard sales for colorful and fun wallets to use for this project.

Directions:
1. Cut a piece of elastic that is a bit wider than the width of your hand.

2. Using pilers, place the studs in the order/shape you would like.

3. Fold the elastic over a tad and place a dab of glue (hot glue gun or super glue) to the elastic then stick the elastic to one end of the wallet. To help you do this you can mark before hand where you want to glue the elastic.

4. Repeat with the other side and let it dry.

5. Go out and hit the town with your stylish new clutch!

Welcome to the wht team Jenelle @nellecreations – Love your first DIY!

I hate carrying large bags when I’m out on the town, but have a habit of misplacing the little ones. This smart (and easy – yay!) DIY solves both problems. Not to mention it’s adorable as well. I am a basic black sort of girl – and love studs – so this look is right up my alley, but I love the idea of using ribbons and jewels on a colorful vintage wallet as well.
