International Beauty via Cosmoprof…

Today we have Beauty from India that our editor/founder/chief beauty junkie Stef discovered at Cosmoprof last year, SkinYoga. So, settle into your asana and read on…

SkinYoga was founded by three sisters who grew up with a chemical-free lifestyle that was deeply rooted in nature, with a strong belief in the importance of mental, physical and emotional balance. Sisters Radhika, Jagriti and Deepika personally seek out the best sources for their all-natural ingredients, which are inspired by ancient skincare wisdom throughout the world. And of course, they never test on animals (SO important to this animal lover!)

I got to check out two products from the line.

The Green Tea Face Mask ($48.34 for 1.76 oz) can be used on all skin types, but is especially helpful for those struggling with acne or hyperpigmentation cause by it.

I have to say, the packaging is ADORABLE–it comes in glass jar, housed in a little wooden crate! The powder itself consists primarily of green tea (which has anti-aging antioxidants, and also helps treat acne) and rice powder (which brightens the skin) and has a lovely green tea smell to it.

Using the included wooden spoon, mix a small amount of the face mask powder with some water to make a paste. Apply, leave it on for 3-5 minutes, and then rinse off. It is a little messy–I had a hard time getting it *just right*. I’d either make the mixture a little too watery with little clumps, or it was a little too thick, and quite a bit of it crumbled off as I tried to apply it to my face. It was tricky for me to get it into a consistency that was easy to spread on. Even so, my face was smoother and softer after just one use, and using it 3 times a week helped get some of my acne prone areas in check.

The SkinYoga Post-Workout Neem Purifier ($52.53 for 7.76 oz) is an amazing treat for your skin any time of the day, but especially beneficial after a workout. It contains ground neem leaves, known for their anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The scrub also contains coconut meal and ground barley. To use it, you take a small handful of the Neem Purifier scrub and apply it to wet skin, massaging gently for 5-7 minutes. My skin felt AMAZING afterwards–extremely soft, smooth and VERY moisturized, and I loved the fragrance (neem leaves smell similar to green tea).

I loved trying these SkinYoga products–I felt like I was treating myself to a mental and physical spa day at home! And knowing how thoughtfully and intentionally the ingredients were chosen and sourced from organic farms makes these a beautiful international treat.
