Have you started your holiday shopping yet? Yeah…we haven’t either. But never fear. Our 2015 Gift Guide series will help you nail every single gift on your list.

So your gift recipient has outgrown the punk paraphernalia of her youth… Don’t fret, it will still be easy to please her with these grown-up gift possibilities that harken back to her long-ago punk sensibility. Here are a few tough-but-tender holiday treats that will make the Grown Up Punk on your shopping list do a secret little slam dance of joy.

Ramones-poster-gift

Personalized Ramones Gig Poster ($15) – What could possibly be cooler than a vintage Ramones gig poster? How about a vintage Ramones gig poster with your recipient as the opening act! Handmade in Austin, Texas, this 12″x18″ digitally-printed heavy poster is suitable for framing and is a steal at $15! Posterinc’s etsy shop offers a variety of gig posters that can be customized to feature you as the opener, but come on, the Ramones! It doesn’t get better than that!

The Decline Of Western Civilization Collection ($44.31) – Long out of print, every punk fan’s Holy Grail film collection has finally been released in a deluxe 3 Blu-Ray or DVD set! Variety calls it “a bracing, stimulating and technically superb close-up look at the L.A. punk scene.” I call it the best music documentaries of all time. Your grown up punk will finally be able to throw away that bootleg VHS tape and enjoy punk history in all its sonic glory.

Asymmetric-frayed-denim-mini-dress

Marques’Almeida Frayed Denim Mini Dress ($389, on sale) – I learned about London-based design team Marques’Almeida when I literally chased a woman down a street to ask about her indescribably beautiful destroyed denim jacket, and I’ve been obsessed with the line ever since. This asymmetric frayed denim mini dress echoes punk style at a price that’s anything but. If you have money to burn, you can steal the heart of any fashion girl with a punky past.

Shock-Value-John-Waters

Shock Value: A Tasteful Book About Bad Taste signed by John Waters! ($20) – I truly believe that punk would have never existed without the earthshaking influence of filmmaker John Waters. “To me, bad taste is what entertainment is all about. If someone vomits watching one of my films, it’s like getting a standing ovation.” Atomic Books is offering signed copies of Shock Value, Waters’ hilarious recounting of his early career and influences, a priceless gift sure to please your grown up punk– for a mere $20!

White-Gold-Black-Diamond-Skull-Ring

White Gold 1ct Black Diamond Skull Ring ($1,875) – IzandCo’s custom skull rings are so elegant, it might take you a minute to appreciate their combination of refined design and serious edge. If money is no object, I can’t think of a more grown-up way to pay homage to punk style. Available in a variety of metals and precious stones. Made to order in NYC. Rock on!

we heartsters – what would you buy your grown-up punk?

  1. Oi! I am definitely slam dancing in my seat, after this great list! The personalized gig poster is such a fabulous idea–bookmarking this immediately for gift purposes. And “Shock Value” is a must; there’s gotta be pink flamingo wrapping paper that would be the perfect accompanying touch, too. Lastly, I already had a good handful of IzandCo’s skull pieces favorited in my Etsy account; such darkly beautiful pieces.

    1. I just recently discovered IzandCo and I’m going a little bit mad with desire. There’s a gold band with a skull that looks like an Edward Gorey illustration… LOVE!

  2. OMG…that ring is adorable! Can skull rings be adorable? *ponders*
