Did you know that the “we” in “we heart this” goes beyond the co-editors? While Stef and I created the site, we’d never be able to carry on without our writers; 16 of the brightest chicks around who specialize in DIY, fashion, food, pop culture and, of course, beauty.

We also couldn’t carry on without YOU, dear reader. So over the holidays, let’s all get to know each other better! We’ll ask a question each day, share some of our writer’s answers and we want you to join us. Leave your answers in the comments and we can all go on a sort-of virtual first date (except way less awkward).

Question of the Day if you had a $50 gift certificate to Sephora, what do you buy?

My answer: I would pitch in a few bucks and finally get my hands on the original Urban Decay Naked Palette. I’ve coveted it for years, and already own the Naked2 Palette as well as the Naked2 Basics (perfect for traveling!). I seriously need the original.

If gifted with 50 bucks at Sephora, Kellie and Vyrlee are thinking a lot like me and would pony up a few dollars to pick up the latest Urban Decay must have, the Naked3 Palette. Meanwhile some of our writers would stock up on basics and others would gift themselves with a guilt-free splurge.

Here’s what some of our team had to say…

Amity: I am dying to get my hands on a Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-In-Oil Lip Color – they are so luxe! With the leftover cash, I’d grab a mini bottle of the Josie Moran Argan Oil – a favorite I know I’ll use, it’s so light and soothing.

Alyssa: I love trying new products, so I’d pick up one of the Sephora Favorites value sets like the Glitz & Glam Party Essentials. I cannot pass up the travel size section in Sephora without grabbing something new to play with, so these value sets are made for me. I could also try the Fragrance Rollerball Sampler – it comes with a voucher that you can redeem for a full size rollerball of your favorite scent.

Erin: I would splurge on something I normally would pass by due to price, but am yearning to get – like an Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss from Hourglass or a lush lipstick from Dior.

Heather: I would pick up the Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer, the
Drybar Triple Sec 3 in 1 Volumizer, Texturizer and Dry Shampoo, and use the leftovers towards the tarte Amazonian Clay Universal Lip Liner – boy do these seem boring and practical!

Holly: After careful consideration I would get three of the trial size packages of the
Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel (each contains 5 treatments for $16). These treatments happen to be one of Stef’s Holy Grail products and are amazing when your skin needs when needs a lift.

Krista: Easy! I’m hooked on Ole Henriksen’s Lemon Strip Flash Peel. I was experiencing a horrible mid-30’s breakout phase and this helped refine my skin quite a bit. It’s magical.

Marilyn: The latest eye shadow set topping my wish list – the Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment palette.

Melissa: I’d make the most of my gift card with their irresistible Sephora Favorites samplers. For a little over $50, I could get both Give Me Some Lip
and Dare to Oil!

Pam: I would buy another tube of Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Lip Treatment. It’s almost empty and I love the stuff but it’s pricey!

Now it’s your turn: if you had a $50 gift certificate to Sephora, what do you buy?

  1. I’d throw in a couple extra dollars for the Urban Decay Naked on the Run palette! I’ve been drooling over that since it came out!

  2. I would get NARS audacious lipstick in Charlotte, and the original NAKED palette. (I’m not sure how or why I’ve resisted getting this palette).

    1. Ooohh pretty! I haven’t seen the new tarte palette yet, but as an eyeshadow addict I added it to my list of things to check out at Sephora this weekend. Thanks for the heads up Chelsey!

    1. KATEROCK! @kate2004rock – so nice to see you here lady! As always, you know exactly what to purchase with a few extra dollars! Love that you got a few items from our imaginary gift certificate. I’ve been hearing good things about DryBar products, but haven’t tried any as of yet. I’m down to the dregs of my dry shampoo so I’ll have to try the DryBar. Happy New Year!

  3. I would totally get a backup of my can’t live without NARS radiant creamy concealer. And with the leftover I’d pick up one of Sephora brand’s Rouge Infusion Lip Stains – love those little puppies!

  4. Hi! Nice choices! I would get either an Hourglass Powder or Blush. I want them so bad but can’t justify paying that much money. Thanks!!
