We’re into the second week of Earth Month and what better company to discuss then the much loved and always earth friendly Origins. Since their launch in 1990 this eco-friendly, fun and fabulous line has delighted both the beauty junkie and the green minded. Today we have a look at an updated cult favorite, A Perfect World Moisturizer, with White Tea and now a whopping SPF 25. Plus, I should mention that in celebration of Earth Month, Origins is offering fantastic deals and special promotions on Origins favorites and lending some support to eco conscious causes all month long.

They will be topping their festivities with a FREE Concert featuring Grammy Winner Macy Gray to benefit the Origins Global Earth Initiatives (an organization that supports programs that help to sustain the planet.) All you New York ladies mark your calandar for next Monday, April 19th, for their first annual Origins Rocks Earth Month Concert at Webster Hall located in Downtown Manhattan.

How do you get on the list? One free concert ticket will be offered to those who bring at least one empty cosmetic package, regardless of brand, to Origins retail stores in NYC, Westchester and the Garden State Plaza Mall (no purchase necessary and while tickets last.)

This recycling effort is part of the Origins Recycling Program, a ground-breaking program that encourages Origins customers to recycle. So, even if you are not in the NYC area, you can take your empties (jars, bottles, tubes and compacts) of ANY BRAND into to your local Origins store to ensure the packaging is recycled responsibly. During Earth Month, as a thank you for participating, Origins offers consumers a free product sample of their choice. Now that’s a win-win promotion!

While you are dropping off those empties, you will want to check out the latest update on an old favorite, A Perfect World SPF 25 moisturizer. The original formula has been working to hydrate and brighten complexions for years. Fans swear by it’s deep, but never oily hydration and the White Tea antioxidants that work to sooth and smooth complexions.

But now, Origins has made it even better by adding a super protective, SPF 25 to the mix! You get the same age fighting, face brightening formula with the added benefit of UVA/UVB sunscreens that “surround skin in a protective bubble” and help to prevent damage from the environment. My skin feels full of moisture, plump and smooth for hours after application.

There is a light, fresh scent to this moisturizer that reminds me of a lime at times. I’m not a huge fan of scents in facial products, but this fades quickly after application and does not sting my skin or seep into my eyes. All in all, I found the refreshing scent a bonus.

As a slightly oily skinned gal, this formula was on the heavy side for me (more shine than I would like after a few hours of wear – nothing blotting powder can’t handle). So, while it worked wonders during the windy spring on my dry cheeks, the deep moisture may be too much during the hot summer months. This formula works well for dry, normal and combo skin and is especially nice for those with sensitivity issues. Give this updated fave a look for your daily SPF protection needs!

  1. Oh, Origins. I’ve only had the chance to visit Origins a few times because I live in a small ‘city.’ Their recycling program is fantastic! What a great idea! I’m glad to know they are taking the extra steps to care for our environment and making it super easy for us to do that as well!

  2. Well, you’re singing to the choir when you rave about Origins to me! Dont’ fall off your chair when I tell you or anyone, that I have been quite crackers over so many of Origin’s products since 1990! It’s hard to imagine what my bathroom counter-top would look like without them! You can picture my face when I received, New and improved “A Perfect World Moisturizer” White Tea with spf 25. Basically, this product just got even better! I love this Company! Everything about it is just what you want. It is great at moisturizing any dryness away instantly. It also smells so fresh and clean. I know that anyone with drier skin will also love this. It absorbs so nicely and your face will love you for taking care of it. I have a few dry patches that really benefited from using this.. I also was outside working in the garden with our huge tomato and herb garden over the weekend, and love the fact that my face, ears and neck were very protected with the spf 25! Yeah! I love this one just as much, if not more! Thanks Origins for making another quality and green product well can love!

  3. Without much twisting of my arm, I willingly offer this product 5 stars! I also wanted to say this is great for sensitive skin too!

  4. I’d have to say the Origins product that most completely knocks my socks off is their Ginger Souffle. As a fan of spicy scents, it’s sheer heaven! And it feels pretty much like heaven too; A whipped consistency that’s super moisturizing. I haven’t had it in awhile, I may need to take advantage of some of their offers and restock!

And it’s true, Pam’s bathroom counter looks like an Origins outpost store!

  5. Oh by the way, I have never mentioned this before, but I have leg lifts and step lively foot lotion that I will and CANNOT live without! You have got to try this out!

  6. I love Origins Peace of Mind lotion– the minty scent is so relaxing!

Tyna, I’m not a fan of scented facial products either, but I’d be willing to give this one a try, especially with the SPF25!

  7. I’m with you Pammie – I’ve loved all things Origins for years too. From bath products to face washes and on to make up, I’ve tried almost everything Origins has stocked on their shelves (a liberal sample policy with lots on little freebies has helped me stay up to date with all they offer). My always in my bathroom list: Out of Trouble Mask ( a 10 minute mud mask), Eye Doctor eye cream (a favorite amongst my friends), the Never A Dull Moment face wash (great for oily skin and it smells amazing) and their chubby lip pencils are a must – love both the Sheer Stick and Shimmer Stick formulas.

As for the A Perfect World with SPF25, I would give it a solid 4 stars. The cream was really nice – lush and hydrating and without a telltale SPF smell. As a contact lens wearer, I had no issues with the scent irritating my eyes – the only issue wash the light sheen that sometimes appeared on my face after a few hours of use(that as mentioned was easily controlled with light powder) which is often an issue when using a heavier moisturizer on my oily prone skin. The plumpness and moisture this gives my skin, the way it helps when applying color over it and for the high SPF factor outweigh that con.

As for the packaging – big cheers for the simple design, classic logo and recycled materials. But, I’m not a fan of the jar dispenser. While I like that you are assured of getting every last drop, I hate digging my fingers into the entire product for every application. More tubes please!

  8. ooo Melissa I love the Origins Peace of Mind lotion too.. it’s so nice.
And every product of theirs I’ve tried is really nourishing.
I may have to give this moisturizer a try too!
I’ve also wondered about all the Origins | Dr. Andrew Weil products.
    Anyone try those?

  9. I know what you guys mean about scented face lotions. I use Philosophy Hope in a Jar, and it took me ages to get past the medicinal smell of it, even with the great results.

I didn’t try this product, but I do love that the cosmetic companies have begun to incorporate SPF into their products!

  10. Kristy, Yes, I really like Dr. Weil’s whole line.. It’s pricey but very good all around. The word, “Healing” is what comes to mind when I think of his products. Ask for a sample of some of his stuff if your near a store! I think you will like it too.

  11. One last thing..I promise you this, you will find something you will not want to be without, if you spend 5 minutes in one of their stores! I could go on all day, but I know you’ll start to think I’m nutty!
Another product that I almost forgot to mention is Origin’s “Precipitation”. It is outstanding! It really lasts a long time after you apply this. My husband really likes this and always makes sure to have it in stock. It’s great for all over, but we mainly use it on our hands.
Can’t forget to say that I like the Youthtopia line.. Check them all out.. I know you will love them too!

  12. Oh wow that is a great idea on the recycling. i would like to recycle more but half the time I don’t know which bin to drop it in. This would be great for people like me. And any product that has SPF in it, is a sure win with me. I’m going to have to try this out.

  13. I love Origins…y’all have reminded me that I need to restock on my Never a Dull Moment (Tyna is right–this smells soooo good) and Modern Friction (really good at refining pores)—I think I’ll have to check out a Perfect World with SPF while I’m there…

  14. Pam, are you sure you don’t get a commission from Origins for whatever we buy? ;) Hehehe…

I love Origins, their products are amazing! Not to mention I have a strange fascination with nearly all of their packaging, it’s just so beautiful! I think my first introduction to Origins was the “Peace of Mind” lotion and it remains a favorite of mine to this day.

I love that they have a recycling program now! I recycle my own bottles at the town processing center but now that Origins throws in a freebie sample I’ve been convinced to schlep my bottles to the mall :)

  15. I fell in love with Origins when my boyfriend (now husband) used to buy it for me in college. It was the only product counter he felt comfortable going up to because the sales ladies were so nice to him. They always helped him pick out the perfect gifts for me. I loved it because I would get all kinds of lotions, scrubs, moisturizers, etc… He hasn’t given me Origins in a very long time. Maybe I need to give him a reminder of how much I loved getting it.

I have used the original Perfect World Moisturizer and loved it. It is one of my go to moisturizers I use in the winter when my skin needs a little something more. I haven’t used it in awhile, but I’m intrigued to hear they have a new version. Love using a high SPF in the summer. Just wonder if this would be too rich for the Texas heat though? I’m an oily girl in the summer time, but I might just have to give this new version another try.

  16. Well Amanda, it sure doesn’t hurt that just moments away from where I sit (all day), I can go at anytime to one of the several stores we have (downstairs) I can’t help it, Origins is like a second home to me. Gotta love working in the best Shopping Center in the Nation!
