Plus Our Review of the Aveda Color Conserve Hair Care Collection
Living in Los Angeles has its advantages; within just a few miles I can always find the latest fashions, buy the newest beauty products or eat and drink at the current celeb hot spot. The one necessity that has alluded me? A chic, dependable and affordable hair salon.
But things are looking up as Stef and I recently had the opportunity to visit the Spoke & Weal salon here in West Hollywood. As a long time fan of anything Aveda, I knew we could expect a great experience at any location bearing the name of this beloved brand.
Walking into Spoke & Weal we were immediately impressed with the gorgeous space – and enveloped with that distinctive Aveda scent! The large, airy and bright salon manages to merge a modern industrial feel with warm woods and golden light for a chic, yet cozy feel.
Besides the fabulous art hanging on the walls, my eyes were drawn up to the coolest electrical system I’ve even seen. A track line spanning across the ceiling, with hanging cords that could be pulled to any station for blow dryers, flat irons and more. Neat.
Also pretty neat? The Triumph parked in the lobby!
After being greeted by the staff, Stef and I were whisked to a changing room where we donned cozy grey tees to wear while being worked upon. Once seated at the station, we were both treated to an ah-mazing head and shoulder massage that instantly relaxed my body and mind.
I then had a chat with my master stylist, Lindsay, about my hair desires. I had recently gone fairly blonde and was happy with the color, but was in need of a fierce bang trim and all over shaping. Lindsey and I decided upon long blunt-cut bangs to frame my face, and a little bit of layering in the front would suit my wash and go styling.
Stef and I pose for the ‘after’ shot!
The results? A sleek, simple not-quite-bob that I love! It is a breeze to ‘style’ – especially after using the Aveda color conserve Strengthening Treatment, my hair is infinitely more behaved.
Speaking of color, Stef met with color director Christine (also a co-owner of the salon.) She’s growing out her light blond, so Christine used a grey blending technique to hide anything peeking through her roots, popped in a few low lights, and Stef was set, and happy!
To keep our hair color fresh and to help stop fading, the experts at Spoke & Weal recommended the Aveda color conserve line. The four product collection is your weapon to help fight fading color and dull hair.
My newly blonde hair was just starting to show signs of fading when I added the color conserve Shampoo and color conserve Conditioner to my routine – and stopped the dullness in its tracks.
I’m in love with this duo – and not just because they helped Tyna get her shine back! The shampoo lathers up into a fabulous foam and rinses easily leaving my hair clean – but not squeaky clean. A touch of the conditioner helps tame flyaways and easily lets me comb through my fine hair without a single knot.
Together they keep my hair happy and healthy without weighing it down. And, of course, both products, contain that signature Aveda scent which always helps to calm my spirits as it fills my shower.
Not in Los Angeles? The Spoke & Weal has locations in New York and San Francisco too! And for those in other areas, make sure to check out the color conserve line to keep your hair and color in the best shape possible.

I forgot how much I love Aveda’s products. They smell amazing and work great, and I’ve gotten away from them over the years, but would like to find my way back. Especially since this color preserving line would be perfect for me. Cuts and color looks amazing ladies!
I’ve never tried Aveda’s haircare products, but my bff keeps telling me how magical they are and both of you lovely ladies look amazing in your “after” shot :)
I love the smell (and the tea) at Aveda stores. I used the Rosemary Mint shampoo and conditioner forever…I’m not sure why I stopped?
And I love the cut and color!
