An intro to LATHER (a we heart this favorite)

Lather-Pasadena

LATHER is a magic oasis for skin care enthusiasts who seek products with pure ingredients and integrity.

It began in 1999 as a pure olive oil-based soap company with innovation and a keen ability to find pure ingredients from all over the world. Over the years, LATHER expanded into complete lines of skin care, hair care and aromatherapy. Plus body scrubs that will leave you feeling as soft as a baby and body lotions that my skin personally drinks up like a refreshing glass of water.

It’s a major bonus that the scents are light, refreshing and come from completely natural sources. With essential oils, herbs and unique fruits, LATHER has an array of distinct and lovely scents which are never synthetic.

We got a chance to visit the flagship LATHER store is in Pasadena, CA. The look, the smell and the staff made us feel totally welcome. If you are lucky enough to visit one of their stores too, give yourself some time. We happily spent hours (yes, hours!) trying and sniffing everything in sight. There are two musts you should indulge in:

First: try the exfoliators at their hand sinks. You can get a great idea about the products and their textures by doing this, and it feels great. This where I first fell for their Bamboo Lemongrass Foaming Body Scrub (more in a minute).

Lather-Blending-Bar

Next: visit the Scent Bar and create a custom blended product. That’s right, one of the staff will work with you to blend pure essential oils that can be added to either a body wash, lotion, or a base oil for a custom perfume. I went for a fresh end-of-summer perfume blend and I adore it: Geranium, Bulgarian Rose and Sandalwood.

Speaking of musts, here were the products I simply couldn’t leave without…

Lather-Products

Bamboo Lemongrass Foaming Body Scrub ($39 for 8oz) – Now I love body scrubs, but sometimes they leave my shower feeling like a slip and slide. This scrub not only exfoliates in a gentle but incredibly effective way, but it also leaves no oil on your shower floor! It simply rinses away. As you scrub, it actually turns into a foam which makes the scrubbing that much easier and luxurious, and when you rinse it away your skin simply feels soft.

With sea algae and almond protein working their magic you will notice instantly how fresh and alive your skin will feel. I’ve been using this religiously and I can honestly say my skin feels so much softer than it has in a very long time. I can see why this is a best-seller.

Lavender Lime Moisturizer ($18 for 8oz) – After a good scrub there is nothing better than a quick absorbing lotion to maximize your soft skin. This particular moisturizer is light enough to use in the morning (and get dressed right away) and its fragrance is a combo that is truly refreshing. I would never have thought about putting lavender and lime together but let me tell you, it’s the perfect pick me up. I love starting my day with this.

Now for my new favorite skincare duo…
Chia Seed and Passion Fruit Facial Oil ($32 for 1oz) – As someone with fairly dry skin, I adore face oils. This is by far my favorite that I have ever tried, and I see myself sticking with it. Omega vitamins, vitamins C, E, and A, Grape Seed and Rosehip Fruit oils are just some of the ingredients that make this like a liquid multivitamin for your skin. A little goes a long way, and unlike other face oils, I actually use this in the morning and it doesn’t leave me looking like a Greaser (note Outsiders reference). It simply soaks in and leaves my skin hydrated and ready for the day. Used in conjunction with the next product, its magic really shines.

Sweet Almond Face Moisturizer ($21 for 2oz) – This is such a perfect moisturizer that I think any skin type would benefit from it. For my skin, it literally is transforming. I had someone comment on my glowing skin after using this for only a week! I’m not kidding, I was shocked. The only change I had made was the new daily combo of the LATHER face oil and this moisturizer. I can literally feel the sweet almond, macadamia nut and avocado oils nourishing my skin. These pure ingredients leave my sensitive skin, totally quiet and hydrated with, as I am happy to report, a nice glow.

The quality, variety and prices you will find at LATHER are absolutely top notch. Check out their site. They have lots of sample sizes and travel sets so you can give products a try. And if you’re looking for stocking stuffers already, their delectable 100% organic olive oil soaps are sure to please.

Can you tell I love LATHER? I’m guessing if you try them you too will fall for this pure and nourishing line.

I love places like this! I wish we had one in Orange County- You guys must’ve had a really great time to spend several hours there!
I got my hands on the Sandalwood (pure essential oil) and added it to my lotion- The sleep I had that evening was uninterrupted! I have been going thru some sleeping issues and I really think this actually helped me relax. I’ve always like this scent and find some are better than others. This is a Good one! Great post too!

Thanks So much! Next time you’re near Pasadena you’ll have to go by, it’s so fun. Sandalwood rocks! I have that mixed with a couple roses and it’s really divine! :)

  2. First off, I have to say the obligatory “Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.” Now that’s out of the way–these products look awesome. I am very tempted by the chia seed face oil. Wonderful post!

The Chia Seed Face Oil is so great, I’ve been using it first thing in the morning and it soaks right in, all you need is a drop. It’s really improving the texture of my skin. I’m going to have to buy back stock in it haha

LATHER is such an amazing brand, with effective products at reasonable prices. Their Licorice Root Eye Treatment, for instance, is one of the best eye products I’ve ever used. Your post makes me want to jump on a plane and have a shopping spree!

Oh I haven’t tried that one yet!! I’ll have to get some.. and Thanks you!! YAY.. it’s so awesome and welcoming in there. Shopping spree’s might be impossible not to do once you go in :-)

I truly love this line since I stumbled onto it about a year ago. The formulas are light enough to feel like they’re not even there plus they don’t have any annoying smell. Love Lather!
