Or: How To Ease Away the Real World with Aromaology

Ironically, finding time for stress relief stresses me out. When things get hairy, I know I need some yoga, a little meditation, and maybe a nap, but who has time?! It’s a vicious cycle, but one I am trying to break.

Squeezing in a quick walk around my building or a nice soothing cup of tea helps relieve some of that pressure, and take the edge off. And lately, I’ve been able to add a little aromatherapy to my stress busting bag of tricks, thanks to the Aveda Stress-Fix collection.

Stress-Fix is a line of body products using Aveda’s patented Aromaology technique – the science of using aroma to promote personal balance and well-being. The secret is a blend of French lavender, lavandin and clary sage from organic sources; all three used for centuries as calming and soothing agents.

This scent, blended with pure essential oils, sustainably farmed algae and organic shea butter and sunflower oil, creates a unique skin care experience designed to ease your mind and your spirit.

I tested the Stress-Fix Body Creme ($50), which I was eager to try as I have high standards for moisturizers. My dry skin craves the hydration, but my picky nature hates sticky or oily creams. Stress-Fix body creme did not disappoint, absorbing quickly without leaving behind greasy, shiny skin. I tested this in the harsh winter months, applying after my shower, and even hours later I felt soft and moisturized.

While the moisturizing qualities are what keep me reaching for my tub of creme, the real star of the Stress-Fix line is the scent. The herbal, soothing scent diminishes a little after application, but it does still linger even an hour later. I’m normally a floral or gourmand fan, but the lavender, and it’s sister scent lavandin, mix with clary sage for a lovely herbal experience that helps soothe jangled nerves.

The 6.7 tub is huge, but I love it so much that I’ve taken to hoarding it, only using it on my hands throughout the day. It might be a placebo effect, or maybe it’s just me taking a moment to pamper myself, but I really do feel calmer after I use Stress-Fix as a mini workplace spa experience.

The Stress-Fix line also includes a body lotion, bath salts and rollerball concentrate so you can treat yourself to all-around stress relief. My only quibble is that I wish it came in a travel size for me to carry with me in my purse. I want it on me at all times because Aveda’s Stress-Fix not only gives me soft skin, but also brief peace of mind.

  1. Oh, I love it! I have part of this collection, body lotion and stress-fix concentrate! Amazing stuff..

    1. I’m REALLY thinking about getting the concentrate, the scent is SO soothing!!

  2. The combination of clary sage and lavender sounds so soothing–I definitely want to try this! Aura Cacia makes these really great pure/essential oil rolls-on; the collection I really like is the Chakra collection. They all have woo-woo names (like one’s to balance your third eye, one is for grounding, etc.) but they smell SO good and are really convenient to tote around and sniff/apply when you’re stressed. My fav is the “expressive throat” one: it’s chamomile and vanilla with a touch of lemon.

    1. It really is a great combo. It also REALLY reminds me of the Aveda store itself! I think the rule of thumb is, if you walk into an Aveda, take a whiff and go, “Mmmmm!” you’ll love this scent!

Oh wow, I looked at the Chakra collection and it sounds great! I think I’m like you; some stuff sounds woo-woo, but if it smells great and helps de-stress or energize (even as a placebo!) I’m good with it! :-)

  3. Just reading the words “french lavender, lavandin and clary sage” makes me feel more relaxed. This cream sounds so nice, @lyssachelle ! I can’t wait to get to Aveda and give it an in-person sniff.

  4. I had a long week and this looks like EXACTLY what I need, I love creams that have soothing scents and can’t wait to try this…. Just wish it came with a little better price tag

  5. As someone who loves lavender, sage and needs help with stress, this has my name all over it!

  6. that sounds like a perfect body cream. Aveda has such nice products. Anything that will calm me down and make me soft and pretty smelling is a winner!!

  7. Phyllis D. says:

I tried the Aveda Lavender and Clary Sage body cream, stress fix and I absolutely loved it. I shower at night and apply the cream to my declate and my arm and sleep like a baby. This product is a win-win and helps to relieve stress.
