bareMinerals, I Just Can’t Quit You
As grown ups, we’ve all been in relationships that have had moments where we question our love and commitment. In true love and lasting relationships, the final answer is always “I love you more than I ever thought.”
Yes, bareMinerals, I questioned you for two days out of my life, only to realize I love you more than I ever thought.
The new bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream ($29) made me wonder if I needed you that much, then it turned my skin around and made me say, “I do” all over again.
Complexion Rescue claims to be the best of a BB, a CC, and a tinted moisturizer, increasing skin hydration by a whopping 215% in only a week.
It also claims “naturally radiant coverage” in addition to its obvious skincare benefits. With 100% (100%!) of women experiencing an improvement in skin texture in just one week, it seemed perfect.
But not at first.
Not for me.

In winter my roseacea-prone skin is even more splotchy than normal. It’s also oily and even flaky in some spots.
Here in L.A. we have been blessed with a warm winter, but that winter comes with a 30+degree spread from day to night that confuses my skin.
I know, however, that my skin does need moisture…and coverage.

The coverage is what made me initially doubt my need for this cream. I first used my fingers to apply.
Once coat didn’t cover much, so I tried two.
Two wasn’t much better, not for anyplace that really needed the coverage anyway.
The gel cream was cool and calming on my face, and the level of hydration seemed good.
I really wanted this to work, so I used a brush to buff this into my skin.
The sleek, black Smoothing Face Brush ($28) is recommended to get the best coverage.
This dome-shaped, dual-fiber synthetic brush was made for buffing and blending foundations and tinted moisturizers to a smooth finish.
But even with the gorgeous brush, Complexion Rescue didn’t give me the full coverage I needed.
But I continued to use this along with my bareMinerals Bare Skin Foundation in spots where I needed a little more help.
Oh yes I did.
My bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Results
I continued to do this for a couple of days and found that I needed less and less foundation with each day.
My skin tone evened out quite a bit, and my skin appeared noticeably plumper.
After the second day, I put my foundation to the side. Seriously, in two days I went from flaky and splotchy to smooth and even-toned.
I’m not sure if it’s the Mineral Electrolyte Complex (meant to energize and replenish the skin), or if it’s the antioxidants present in the heart leaf globe daisy.
Or maybe it’s the humectants derived from land and sea that is responsible for such a quick and noticeable complexion about-face, but whatever it is, its power is awesome.
bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Color Chart
I forgot to mention that Complexion Rescue has a non-chemical, mineral-based broad spectrum SPF 30 to prevent UV damage.
Available in 10 shades, there is a shade for every skin tone, a much better range than most BB creams I’ve tried.
Also, there is no oil, no silicone, no parabens and no fragrance in Complexion Rescue, either. It’s ALL good. bareMinerals, I’m ready to renew my vows.
