Spring is here, ladies! With three feet of snow outside my door, it’s hard to believe, but bareMinerals has reminded me that winter is over with their spring collection.
Evoking a 60’s Mod tone, the bareMinerals Modern Pop Collection is full of soft, yet rich colors in fun polka-dotted packaging. I’m telling you ladies, when I wear anything from this collection, I feel hope that I may again one day see a blade of grass. It’s that good!
When I’m phasing into spring makeup, I start to slowly put away darker shades in favor of muted tones. It’s a bittersweet time for me because by the time spring rolls around, I’m so over winter and dark colors, but sometimes I equate “muted” with “boring”. That is not a problem with the Modern Pop Collection. While the items appear muted, they are anything but boring.
Upon first glance, you’re greeted with girly and fun polka-dotted cases and details – the lipstick comes in the most adorable dotted lipstick case with snap and mirror that would create a twinge of lipstick envy from all who see you taking it out of your purse. This is a collection that is understated and lovely.
Ready for a closer look? The Modern Pop Collection contains:
Chic – pink cashmere
Carefree – peach sherbet
Sophisticate – natural amethyst
Exhale – smoky taupe
I found that the eyeshadow quad was one of the more surprising items in this collection. When I first saw it, I was worried the paler shades wouldn’t have any impact and would look washed out on me. Instead, they packed a lot of drama into their muted tones. Exhale and Chic are my favorites out of the 4 shades and I find myself wearing them every day and reveling in their long wear time.
Lasting Line Eyeliner in Classic Cream ($16)
The Classic Cream Eyeliner is a pale nude beige and is something I never would have tried on my own and now I’m lamenting that it’s a limited edition.
The creamy beige shade helps me fake 8 hours of sleep when lined along the inner corners and lower waterline of my eyes.

Lash Domination Mascara ($18)
Frame those eyes with this limited edition version of bareMinerals’ intensely black mascara. This one is for those that want full and voluminous lashes and is formulated with a “10-in-1 volumizing, lengthening, thickening, separating, long-wearing formula”.
Clump and flake resistant, Lash Domination also features the bareMinerals’ exclusive ProTwist18 wand which is “spiraled to curve around lashes and coat all angles.” Very cool.
Marvelous Moxie Lipstick ($20)
The popular Marvelous Moxie Lipstick line gets a few new additions to its pigment packed collection of creamy lippies. There are three new hues in specially packaged polka-dotted tubes.
Fall in Love – tawny peach
Express Yourself – bright peach
Dream Big – nude peach
Cream Glaze Lip Topcoat ($18)
Pearl Glaze – sheer, creamy pearl
The Cream Glaze Topcoat as a very pleasant surprise. This translucent creamy white shade would have been firmly in the “boring” column if I didn’t see for myself how transformative it is to a lip color. It takes any lipstick and turns it into a softer, lovelier version of itself.
I highly recommend trying the topcoat with the Fall in Love lipstick – it takes a shade that would work year-round and turns it into a spring pastel. Magic!
Be sure to check out and swatch this fab new collection because everything looks even better in person. I would hate for any of you ladies to pass up any of these limited edition lovelies!

Krista resides in the middle of nowhere with her bff/hubby and a puppy that makes feral capuchins seem mellow. She has an irrational fear of ax murder, owns more than one machete for home defense/the zombie apocalypse, and goes to sleep serenaded by the sounds of the Chupagobbler, a mythical turkey beast that roams the woods around her house. Krista has been in the Bermuda Triangle twice and still hasn’t vanished. She is super proud of that.
