Catch Some Summer Sunshine From This Little Jar!

I wear makeup to the beach. There, I said it. I never leave my house without some makeup on my face, but despite many of my friends judging me for wearing makeup by the water, I can’t help myself. Call it vanity, call it insecurity, I call it my attempt to look like Bo Derek running on the beach, braids bopping up and down as I go. I want to be a perfect 10.

Alas, I’m not Bo Derek, so makeup helps. (Let me live the lie, people.) Helping me to achieve a sun goddess glow: the Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflé ($27). It’s one part cream blush, one part glowing shimmer, all parts amazing!

Becca’s Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle’s take the colors of Becca’s glorious Beach Tints and adds their Shimmering Skin Perfector to them, so you get gorgeous pops of color with flattering golden tones of shimmer.

The end result is color that is water-proof and an illuminating finish that lets you believe that you have Bo Derek’s cheekbones, if only for a little while. Which, is really all one can hope for. Available in six shades, we checked out two stunners:

Watermelon/Moonstone – Coral red infused with pale gold
Lychee/Opal – Pink grapefruit infused with gold shimmer

This waterproof formula is free of parabens, oil, and talc – which is great for more sensitive skin types. It also contains skin-soothing, redness-reducing brown algae, which is also fabulous for ladies with more irritated or blotchy skin. The end result is a youthful glow that I daresay Bo Derek would be envious of!

I got to try the Watermelon/Moonstone shade. Ladies, y’all need this one. I am a whore for cream blush, but this one is just outstanding. First of all: it smells like watermelon. Fun! Secondly, the color is this perfect shade of deep pinky/coral red with shimmer and the pale gold swirling through this makes this little pot some of the best eye candy I’ve seen in a while. It’s almost too pretty to use. Almost.

The texture on this is delicate and spongy – you’ll want to be gentle when applying this. I swirled a finger over the top of the pot to get an even distribution of color and then I gently dabbed it on my cheekbones. The color is very sheer and buildable, so if you are afraid of cream blushes, this one will work for you. You can’t overdo it.

The end result of the Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflé is a rosy, youthful flush that feels like you’re wearing nothing at all – if you run your hands over your cheeks a few minutes after applying, you’d swear you were bare-faced. This is perfect for the beach and beyond and the lasting power on these is better than anything I’ve ever used. I will be collecting all of these – that’s how much I love this product.

  1. Girl, I fully support your Bo Derek on the beach aspirations. IMO, BB cream, waterproof mascara and lip stain are a must! And I’m drooling over these souffles and am def picking one (or two, let’s be honest) up–so pretty and summery.

    1. Thank you! lol As for your beach makeup, you and I are twinsies—I wear the same. I just feel better with makeup on. These souffles are a perfect addition to our current repertoires. I usually use a cheek stain, but these with the added shimmer kicks things up a notch. You’ll have to let us know which colors you pick :)

  2. Ooo, that Watermelon/Moonstone shade went straight on my Sephora Loves List. It looks SO wearable for any skintone, and SO pretty. You can just tell from the photo how light in texture it is!!

  3. Wow the Lychee/Opal is so pretty, I love the color! I want to check that one out for spring…

  4. Hello Bo! My favorite look to achieve as a young lass.. Goodness, this looks like the perfect thing to have on at the beach! I’m a beachy gal and am so getting myself a fix with Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflé!
    Great review!

  5. If any makeup can help me to even be 1/2 of a 10, then count me in! Those cream blushes look beautiful. The watermelon scent – yum! Guess I’m on another makeup must have quest.

  6. I LOVE these. Like, “take them out behind the middle school and get them pregnant” kind of love (and yes, I still use this 30 Rock reference.) The texture of them is so amazing, like jello. They just kind of boing under your fingertips. Then, when you apply it, it turns into an absolutely weightless cream.

With the bright, sunny shades (all of them are amazing, I had a hard time picking the one I bought, Lychee/Opal shown above) and the gold shimmer they’re filled with – these are perfect for summer. And I want every single one of them.

    1. That 30 Rock reference is eternal, @stef! As a coral lover, I’m really surprised you didn’t grab the more coral/orange shade, Papaya/Topaz. That’s the next one on my list :D

  7. UM I totally wear makeup to the beach. NBD. And Lychee/Opal is so pretty, I’d wear it everywhere!

I also throw on a little makeup before running a race…even if that race is a marathon (hey, pictures will be taken and I like to look as decent as a sweaty smelly runner is going to look after a race, ok?) haha. Do whatcha want, girl. ;)

  8. If anyone was interested in trying the soufflé Ulta has a great deal right now for a set that has it in the opal/moonstone combo and a beach tint in guava. Both those products are full size plus it includes a liquid highlight in opal and a pressed in rose gold (I think these are deluxe sample size). The whole set is only a little more than the soufflé alone so def worth a try! N/A just love Becca products!

    1. Mel – That’s a GREAT deal! Thanks for sharing it.
