A nourishing formula with buildable coverage for a flawless face

BECCA Perfect Skin Mineral Powder Foundation Reviewphotos: we heart this

One of the great parts of being a wht tester is the opportunity to try new brands. I tend to stay in my own little bubble of favorites, and forget just how many other great lines are out there. BECCA Cosmeticsicon has recently become one of my new favorites; wht introduced me to the line, and I’m super happy they did.

BECCA Perfect Skin Mineral Powder Foundation

I’ve tried BECCA’s nail polish, their lipgloss (which is one of the best I’ve used), and now, their Perfect Skin Mineral Powder Foundationicon ($40), which is yet another impressive product. They have a perfect track record with me right now, and are quickly becoming a go-to brand.

BECCA Perfect Skin Mineral Powder Foundation

I typically use cream foundations, because I find they provide better coverage, but BECCA’s powder foundation claims “medium to full coverage,” so I was anxious to try it. First impressions were I was really impressed with the compact itself. A sturdy size, a sleek/modern look, with the silver button on top, and it comes in a nice little zip-up bag. It’s definitely a compact worthy of the $40.00 price tag.

The powder is ultra soft and silky, and WOW, what a powerhouse formula. Packed with antioxidant vitamins for anti-aging benefits, red algae that improves circulation, and aloe vera and honeysuckle flower to soothe and moisturize, this powder isn’t kidding around. With all of its benefits, it’s also free of parabens, oil, fragrance, chemical dyes, talc and fillers, which means it’s great for sensitive and acne prone skin. (This was a major plus for me!)

This Sephora Exclusive is available in a nice range of 15 shades, and Sephora stores have a “Shade Match Color Wheel Mirror” for you to find your perfect match. I tested Buttercup, a medium beige with warm pink undertones. Each compact has a thin sponge, for application, that allows you to create buildable coverage.

I started out using it alone, in place of my normal foundation, and it provided pretty solid coverage. It wasn’t quite as much as my cream foundations, but more than I expected from a powder foundation. Next, I found it worked great on top of my existing foundation routine, to maintain coverage throughout the day, so I ended up using it more like a powder. But, it worked so well as a powder, I’m thinking of ordering more!

BECCA Perfect Skin Mineral Powder Foundation

BECCA’s Perfect Skin Mineral Powder Foundationicon has a very polished finish and gave my skin a super smooth, flawless appearance… I managed to look fresh in the dead of winter! I think this would be a perfect option for any of you looking for a lightweight foundation with layering coverage.

Pros:
Lightweight, silky formula
Packed with minerals and other anti-aging benefits
Beautiful compact
Water resistant

Cons:
A tad bit pricey
No SPF

  1. Hey Buttercup Great review @spitfire77! Becca is one line that always grabs my attention. This sounds and looks amazing.. I just cannot believe I don’t have much of the line to speak of. I am like you and normally use liquid foundations but have my share of cream and powder foundations that really can cover well. I will head to Sephora’s matching mirror later to see which of the 15 shades has my name on it!

  2. I’ve never used anything from Becca that I didn’t love. I mean, look at that compact! I’d feel fancy just pulling it out of my makeup bag for touchups! I love the idea of using this powder foundation for mid-day touchups of my usual cream foundation, @spitfire77 ! I’ll be checking out the matching mirror– I hope I’m a Buttercup, too!

  3. I am always on the hunt for the perfect foundation. Honestly, I prefer mineral types because my sensitive combination skin seems to agree. I would really like to try this one because of the coverage.
Thanks for the info about Becca @spitfire77 ! I am going to check Becca out.

  4. I really like this compact. Like I said, I definitely use it more as a touch up powder throughout the day, but it gets great coverage and it’s a very finely milled, super soft formula. You really can tell it’s a luxury product, but well worth it, especially with all of the mineral benefits too…

  5. You sold me, @spitfire77! I became hooked on Becca’s “Beach Tint,” a silky, beautiful color for cheeks and eyes, years ago. I tend to prefer the ease of powder foundations these days, and this formula appears to have everything I need and want (even the zip-bag is a plus!). I checked out the range of gorgeous shades at Sephora. Great review!

    1. Whoops! That was to have read “cheeks and lips.” I need to purchase this and didn’t have time to proofread . . .

  6. I’ve tried their blush and loved it. My skin is too blotchy to use just a powder foundation by itself, but I love layering it on top of liquid foundation to get a little more coverage :)
