Act fast, this limited edition disco beauty was just marked down from $34 to $24!
On a recent trip quick to the east coast I gave myself a challenge – pack only a carry-on bag. Now, this might not seem like much a challenge to many of you. But for me, who frequently tips the allowable scale with a check in bag, it was a big one. Pairing down my clothes was surprisingly easy. I even did ok with shoes. But then I got to makeup…and it all came to a screeching halt.
That pesky airline liquid rule proved problematic alone. But once I dealt with that, I was still left with a very heavy makeup bag. At least 5 lbs. For a 3 days trip.
Right when I was about to give up, a gift from makeup heaven arrived – Benefit’s The Rich is Back palette. And it’s so damn perfect it became the ONE palette I packed for my trip. Challenge met!
This beautiful beast is a collaboration with British fashion designer Matthew Williamson as a glamorous ode to the days of disco. “Disco” isn’t what exactly comes to mind when I see it. But that’s a good thing, since I normally associate garish blue eye shadow and heavy blush with it. Instead we have a more subtle hussle that’s beyond gorgeous.
Before we delve inside, will you look at that box?
Williamson is known for his prints, so it’s no surprise that the packaging shines almost as brightly as what’s inside. Plus, Benefit is never a slouch in the packaging department! And best of all? Once the makeup is gone you can use the box for storage (complete with a high quality mirror.)
The Rich is Back contains four shimmery shadows:
Disco Dust – pale golden nude
Solid Gold – warm honey brown
Get Down Brown – rich chocolate
Feel So Teal – blackened teal with an electric teal sheen
These shadows are beautiful. They’re warm, I appreciate that they’re shimmery and not glittery, and they’re nicely pigmented. And even though I have a TON of brown shadows, I felt these still brought something to my collection.
And I’m crazy for Feel So Teal! The shimmer looks like it’s lit from within. It’s great for a teal smoky eye or as a liner, and adds something fun to the otherwise neutral palette.
Gimme Fever cheek powder is a nude pink with silver shimmer. You can brush this on sparingly (with the enclosed signature brush) for just a hint of color, or heavily for some serious pigment. It’s a subtle accompaniment to the eye shadows. Plus, not that your blush has to smell, but Benefit’s do. And I have to say, I like the rosy scent I’m greeted with when I open the palette.
Benefit’s known for the adorable minis, and this kit is no exception.
Inferno is a punchy red with gold flake glitter. I have to admit I’m not a fan of the scent of their glosses (an odd, synthetic fruit to me). Believe me, no one is sadder about this that me! Especially when it comes to Inferno, because the color is divine. Luckily, the scent fades pretty quickly. Aside from that, it’s a plush-feeling gloss with minimal stickiness.
Gimme Fever blush and Inferno lipgloss
Also included is They’re Real! Mascara, in maybe the sweetest little tube I’ve ever seen. Despite its tiny stature, it’s got a full size, plastic bristle brush. This has become one of my top 5 favorite mascaras for the incredible length and clump-free separation it gives. Good stuff!
It was well worth it for $34. Now that it’s $24, you’d be a fool not to boogie down to Sephora and scoop this up!
