pencils so pretty, you’ll want to chomp on them!

It’s no secret that we love our eco-friendly, green beauty here at wht. Throw in great color payoff and long-term skin benefits and you’re talking serious beauty! It’s not every day that we can find this great combination, so when we do it’s really worth mentioning. In Bite Beauty, I’m confident that we have found just such a combination.

This Canadian company concentrates on creating lip products made without parabens, petrochemicals, and other nasties. Instead Bite Beauty products are packed with resveratrol, an antioxidant commonly found in red wine and hailed for its anti-aging powers.

Pomegranate, Honey Berry, Bouquet

Top it all off with food grade colors and you’ve got a lipstick so great you could take a bite out of it! I was lucky enough to test out the Bite High Pigment Matte Pencil ($24 each) in two colors- Bouquet (a cool, peachy pink) and Pomegranate (a true, blue based red).

First things first: the formula really isn’t a true matte. Yes, it’s more matte than many other creamy lip pencils, but it is a much more wearable matte than you may first think. Don’t let the name intimidate you!

Bite’s formula is incredibly creamy and incredibly pigmented. Just one swipe gives me full opaque coverage! The color remains true on a number of lip colors, from my rather salmon colored lips to my friend’s rosy red kisser.

While the color payoff is great at first, it’s not terribly long lasting. I get about 3 hours of wear before the color starts to look rather faded and needs a touch up. Thankfully the pencils are the perfect size to tuck into a purse for quick and easy application!

Bouquet, Pomegranate, Honey Berry

The High Pigment Matte Pencil is creamy when applied. While I don’t feel that the formula is drying, it’s also not hydrating. So I tend to load up on lip treatments at night after wearing this pencil during the day, especially since the cold weather has hit.

Since receiving the Matte Pencil from Bite in Pomegranate it has become my go-to red. It’s the perfect, super wearable red and I can’t get enough of it. Bouquet is a great dusty sort of pink that will be perfect once summer hits and I have a little more color in my face.

Bite Beauty is sold exclusively at Sephora. Currently there is a limited edition High Pigment Matte Pencil Trio available for a budget-friendly $38 (lowering the per cost pencil to less than $13 each!). The kit contains three in shades, Pomegranate, Bouquet, and Honey Berry (a toasted almond). Check the comments to see what our tester thought of the cozy sounding hue.

So green beauty mavens, will you be taking a bite out of Bite Beauty? And what do you think of Bite’s take on the modern matte lip?

  1. Very nice. I’m a major gloss girl, but these seem creamy enough that they won’t stress me out. (YES, wearing uncomfortable lip color can be stressful. ;-) ) The colors also seem really wearable for all skin tones, which we know I love. I’ll have to check them out on my next trip to Sephora!

    1. Uncomfortable lip color is TOTALLY stressful! If it feels funny I start to think that I must LOOK funny and become this big ball of anxious until I can get to a mirror and re-do my makeup. I’m SO WITH YOU.

  2. These look great! Honey Berry looks nice.. as do Bouquet, and Pomegranate. I’d like to see a fuller line of colors though.. I’ll check these out my next visit to Sephora as well. From what I see above, the High Pigment Matte Pencil really does look creamy which makes all the difference in the world.. almost looks like lip stick!

  3. Honey Berry looks like the perfect daytime neutral, and the other two colors are pretty, too. The value trio is pretty darned tempting, @mandaleem !
I’ll be heading to Sephora soon to check out Bite Beauty!

  4. These Bite Beauty lip colors are intriguing. I love the fact that they are green!
Great post @mandaleem! I will have to give these a try.

  5. Are these twist up or do you have to sharpen them?

The colors look great, and the trio has a good variety of shades. Three hours of wear isn’t too bad.

    1. They twist up, which I love because who wants to loose valuable product while sharpening? The Bite’s High Pigment Matte Pencil is creamy enough that you can use a lip brush for more precise application when the pencil itself isn’t sharp enough.

  6. Bite Beauty has really taken a bite out of my heart! The colors are creamy, super wearable, and the finish is very on trend. I wear them at least once a week (Pomegranate is so fantastic for winter!) and I will totally be buying more Bite Beauty in the future.
Bite Beauty High Pigment Matte Pencil totally gets 4 stars from me. If it were a little more hydrating it would be a 5. This set is a serious steal- $13 per pencil? Fantastic!

  7. While I didn’t get to test these, I did swatch them and loved the amount of pigment. Plus, a whole line dedicated to lip products? I’m all over it!

  8. I almost missed this post! I tested out the Honey Berry and it is a VERY wearable daytime neutral! I love the consistency of these pencils and they really do get great coverage. I also love this color and the twist up cap, so there’s no sharpening to worry about. I give this a very high 4 stars and would definitely try another one of these…it’s just a nice change from super creamy lipsticks that disappear after an hour!
