I am drawn to the new Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipsticks ($22) like they are magnets and I am steel. Okay, they kind of ARE magnets, but we’ll get to that in a minute…
I mean, take a look at this array of colors. How will you choose just one? If you’re anything like me, you won’t even try to control yourself against the irresistible draw of so much beauty.
Buxom is well known for creations that are bigger, bolder, brighter than any other. I always expect high performance products. But this release? They’ve outdone themselves, my lipstick loving friends!
The packaging sets these beauties apart right from the start. Just as the performance is larger-than-life, the tube is more substantial than your usual lipstick– I’d say a third wider than average. The modern-looking black tube has the Buxom logo embossed on the side, so it even feels good in my hand. I love that the texture of the tube matches the formula for easy identification– matte or glossy (for the satin formula). And the best part: they have a super-strong magnetic closure that shuts with a satisfying snap! I have to remind myself not to push the lid closed because it closes tightly on its own.
And the force of attraction goes way beyond the gorgeous packaging. The super-pigmented gel formula clings to lips with gentle yet powerful strength. Just one swipe gives full coverage, and the color doesn’t budge for hours (at least four for me).
Buxom Bold Gel Lipstick Swatches:
Four gorgeous mattes (from left)
Defiant Bloom – classic medium blue pink, the matte formula beautifully counteracts the brightness of the pink
Sinful Cinnamon – pink-hued cinnamon nude, which Stef describes as the perfect nude for anyone who fears nudes!
Vampy Plum – deep, dark and gothy
Racy Reveal – warm light peachy pink, the requisite “my lips but better” everyday neutral
indoors: Defiant Bloom, Sinful Cinnamon, Vampy Plum and Racy Reveal
in sunlight: Defiant Bloom, Sinful Cinnamon, Vampy Plum and Racy Reveal
Four beautiful satins (from left)
Extreme Heat – hot reddish coral with the unique opacity of a melting popsicle
Fuchsia Fetish – hot magenta pink, my idea of the perfect shocking blue pink
Guilty Angel – warm light golden pink with a slight gleam that keeps the super-light pink from settling into lip lines
Sultry Mauve – dirty mauve, my favorite of the bunch; a mauve that works as a neutral on me
indoors: Extreme Heat, Fuchsia Fetish, Guilty Angel and Sultry Mauve
The whole gang in sunlight! Satins: Extreme Heat, Fuchsia Fetish, Guilty Angel and Sultry Mauve; Mattes: Defiant Bloom, Sinful Cinnamon, Vampy Plum and Racy Reveal
The mattes in particular are uniquely weightless and creamy. “But mattes can be drying,” you’re probably saying. Not these mattes, I assure you! The formula may be the most hydrating matte I’ve ever used.
When it comes to lipstick, the rules of attraction are simple: a stunning array of moisturizing-yet-longwearing colors plus work-of-art packaging adds up to a pull I’m powerless to fight! Must. Have. More Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipsticks.
we heartsters – can you resist these? Which shade is your must-have?
Love the mauve one! I am all over that color, and the packaging looks really cool too!?
I’m intrigued by the cinnamon one, but wary because so often I find that lipsticks wind up wearing me!
I’m impressed with how great the colors look on your arm! Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipsticks are worth $22.00! Look at the pigment in these!
I want to try them all!
I am dying to try this. I am especially excited to try Vampy Plum. It looks like a gorgeous Fall shade. I have been worried about the dryness but am glad to hear that this should not be a problem.
I have not tried a Buxom product that I have not loved. I look forward to checking these great shades in person.
Vampy plum looks glorious! Great post, @turboterp!!!! :D
Okay, seriously I need Sinful Cinnamon!!! I’ve been afraid of nude lipsticks forever, but the swatch on this one – just beautiful. I’ve never tried any of the Buxom line, but looks like that’s soon a thing of the past.
