I’m pretty practical—if I’m spending money, it better be worth my while.

Sure, that $125 an ounce perfume smells divine, but so does my favorite $20 BPAL scent.

A $200 blowout?

Lasts just as long as the one I get from my favorite stylist and doesn’t come with that perfect side of wicked gossip.

If it’s gonna be fancy, it better be fancy AND get the job done. Segue to my new best friend Clarins Everlasting Foundation + (available here).

This French luxury brand was one of many beauty counters I spend dodging in the mall as a child while I tried to drag my mom through the department store to the toy store.

But, oh tiny me of yore, you had no idea that you’d be missing out on, hands down, one of the best foundations I’ve ever tried.

Clarins Everlasting Foundation + uses a “high-fidelity system”, which allows the foundation to form an invisible veil with your skin, leaving it matte and giving it the staying power of up to 15 hours.

The form is medium to full coverage, so fine lines and skin damage are banished and skin looks flawless. It’s available in 14 shades.

Like most full-coverage formulas, Clarins Everlasting Foundation + is probably best for normal to oily skin; the heavier pigment will highlight unwanted patches of dry skin.

While I got hours and hours of coverage with little to no transfer, I did have to touch up with powder throughout the day, but no more than usual.

The packaging is gorgeous, all sleek gold lines and frosted glass, with that classy hint of red underneath the cap.

Application is via a pump, which doles out just enough product and allows you more control over how much it dispenses.

At $40 a bottle, this isn’t your drugstore brand; but with one to two pumps giving me nearly full coverage for an entire workday, my drugstore brand isn’t even in this league.

As I said, this is one of the absolute best foundations I’ve ever used. I’ve always tended to be pretty vocal on my brand loyalty when it comes to foundation, but…I’m sorry, baby. I think I’ve found someone else.

Luxury doesn’t tend to have a place on my bathroom counter unless it proves itself.

Conclusion: Clarins Everlasting Foundation

Clarins Everlasting Foundation has proven itself, won the case, cashed the settlement check and bought a home in Boca.

If you want medium to full coverage for your normal to oily skin, give this product a try. You won’t be sorry, and might even find yourself feeling a little fancier too.

  1. I bought a blush from Clarins in a beautiful case 30 years ago. It was hands down the most beautiful product I have ever bought. The case was gorgeous and the color was perfect. It was ridiculously expensive. I was heart broken when I somehow managed to lose it and it was no longer available.

    1. Gorgeous packaging is the best! I know the pain of your heartbreak, Cary! :-) I have a huge thing for antique makeup cases and toiletries, so when I see something that pretties up my vanity I just want it so bad….but, like I said in my post, I won’t buy it unless it’s worth it!

  2. I’m laughing picturing @lyssachelle dragging her mom through the cosmetics department! Clarins’ packaging is always so beautiful, and I’ve never been disappointed by their products. I’m curious about this foundation and will check it out for sure!

    1. I still do this! But instead of me dragging my mom through a Foley’s on my way to KB Toys, it’s my husband on the way to Sephora or Paper Source.

I think you’ll love this foundation! I’m a year-round medium to full coverage gal (Dallas. It’s how we do.) so this might be a little heavy for you as things heat up, but it’s definitely worth a try.

  3. I had no idea this line was so great. It is wonderful!! I use many different foundations and this has earned a place as one of my favorites, for sure! I was pleasantly surprised to find practically perfect coverage, with just a small amount. There is also something very pleasing with this formula’s scent. Very clean and refreshing while going on, and yes, it does stay on for hours and then some! It feels great immediately after application. I love the Bamboo powder because it really reduces any flaws (my brown spot)it must be the Quinoa that helps my skin feel so supple!

    1. I liked the scent too, @irene! It fades quickly, but it has that classic “makeup” scent, which I kind of love!
