I’m a lip product lover. Glosses, crèmes, mattes, and balms, I enjoy them all. I especially like when color is combined with hydration and great texture on my lips. I can’t believe the amount of good stuff that Clark’s Botanicals Ultra Rich Lip Tint fits into one small tube – oils of coconut, avocado, safflower and sweet almond, along with shea butter give these a super soft texture.
As a company Clark’s Botanicals is a bit of do-gooder, as well as a complete inspiration. The company was founded after a tragic pool accident left founder Francesco Clark paralyzed. He lost not only the ability to walk, but also the ability to sweat, which lead to chronic skin issues.
Working with his father, Francesco crafted botanically based formulas that helped to rebalance his skin. Soon friends and family fell in love with the formulas; and a new company – and a life’s purpose – was born. Today Clark’s Botanicals donates a portion of all their proceeds to the Christopher Reeve Foundation, where Francesco serves as a national ambassador.
Speaking of inspiring, the shades of the Ultra Rich Lip Tint ($19) were named for women that have inspired Francesco during his recovery, from celebs like Madonna (Madge Mauve is for the pop sensation) to his sister, Charlotte. The wht team got the chance to try out five of these tints.
Madge Mauve – berry plum
Carlotta Pink – yellow based pink with gold micro glitter
Because I Love You – Peach with gold micro glitter
Moore Nude – milky light peachy nude with silver shimmer
Rachel Red – cherry red
I got to try two tints, Rachel Red and Madge Mauve. To be honest I can’t decide which I like better. Both are subtle, the whole “your lips but better” vibe but in different moods.
Carlotta Pink and Because I Love You
Madge Mauve is more of a berry shade, while I like Rachel Red for its soft, red stain. These tints have that universally flattering appeal that works with all skin tones because they work with your own lip pigment.
I have tried some lip tints in the past with rather underwhelming results. My biggest complaint is that most lip tints seem to seep into lip lines, accenting them, while fading from the surface. It must be the combination of oils and beeswax that keeps Ultra Rich Lip Tints from sinking into lines. I have no problems with accented lines with this formula. The texture is shiny and super smooth. My lips look and feel so much better after wearing them.
Because I Love You, Moore Nude and Rachel Red
The scent of Clark’s Botanical’s lip tint is a soft, slightly sweet floral. A mix of vanilla, calendula, and jasmine extracts are listed among the variety of skin softening oils. The scent is not overwhelming and the tints have just a touch of sweetness in taste. I found an average staying power that resulted in 2 to 3 hour wear time without touch ups. However these are not stains, so eating or drinking certainly puts a dent in the color. Personally I didn’t mind refreshing since a very small dot goes a long way.
Pros:
• Subtle pops of color
• Hydrating formula
• No parabens
• Nice scent
• Universally flattering colors
Cons:
• Includes lanolin
• A bit pricey
With the excellent texture, great color and amount of product, I feel the Ultra Rich Lip Tint is worth the price of $19. I would easily say these tints have jumped to the “always in my purse” list!
we heartsters and testers – what do think of Clark’s Botanicals hydrating colorful gems?
Lucy loves Lady Gaga, lattes, trashy television and anything zombies. She’s a geeky girl who likes tech gadgets, reading tons of books, playing with gender roles and is constantly surrounded by a small army of cats.

I’m loving what I see of these lip tints! Clarks always has such simple yet chic packaging. Carlotta Pink and Rachel Red are so up my alley :) I guess for the pigment my lips but better factor :) Great review @lucylemonade
This was my first introduction to Clark’s Botanicals and I couldn’t be more impressed! I’ve been testing “Because I Love You” and I love it! The color is a beautiful, shimmery coral, very subtle and probably the richest formula I’ve used. It really feels good on and makes my lips so much softer. It’s a nice size tube and, because the formula is so rich, I know it will last for a long time. I can’t wait to see what else they have to offer because this product is five stars for me! Great review @lucylemonade
@lucylemonade – I am in love with this brand. I was a tester of the color Carlotta Pink. This is a fab pink color that seems to goes with anything I am wearing. I really appreciated this pink is a bit sophicitated because it is subtle, sheer with a bit of shimmer.
I love that you can immediately tell when you put this brand on it is made of quality ingredients. It is so moisturizing- it is almost like a tinted lip treatment.
5 stars
You totally sucked me in with your comment “tinted lip treatment”…. although the swatches were already quite enticing.
Carlotta Pink was the one really calling my name, but I was concerned that it might be a little too childish (too pink pink) for a work environment. Thanks for calming my fears!
The Rachel Red looks amazing!! I have read a lot about this company and the amazing story of the creator. I really need to check them out!!
Because I Love You looks nice! I’m not usually a fan of subtle, but I’m a sucker for gold.
I love everything about this lip tint; the names, the company’s philanthropy and especially the product itself. I have been sporting Moore Nude on a regular basis and while it is not a color I’d gravitate towards normally, it’s a new favorite! It is a nude, but is such a lovely sheer color that it’d be perfect on just about everyone. There is a nice slip to this, which I love, but it still wears better than more tints or glosses I’ve found. There is some shimmer, but I wouldn’t automatically call it “shimmery” so it’s great for those of you who like a more grown-up product. (Personally, the sparklier the better for me!)
Madge Mauve and Rachel Red are my next buys, I’m a new fan!
