I’ve found sunshine (and glossy, bouncy hair) in a bottle!
I have been striving for shiny hair since my late teen years. After years of unfortunately bad perms, the likes of which made me resemble one of “The Golden Girls”, I had pretty dull and damaged hair. There was zero gloss or shine. My lovely mother, God rest her soul, pronounced my hair “as dull as dirt” and thus, a complex was born!
Since then, I have been using pretty much any shampoo and conditioner that promises shinier locks. When I received Cristophe’s Professional Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner, the sad, little teenager I once was squealed with demented glee.
As you may know, Cristophe is truly a hairdresser to the stars. He opened his first salon 27 years ago in Beverly Hills and has since opened salons nationwide. He’s done the hair of celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, and even former President Bill Clinton.
Cristophe believes that beauty starts from the inside and a “dedication to health” will create a natural radiance and his mission is to maximize that radiance. He certainly manages to do that with this shampoo and conditioner!
The bottles are sleek cylinders that are white at the bottom and clear at the top and when filled with the cheerfully orange shampoo and conditioner, give the appearance of an ombré effect. The products themselves are luxuriously rich – no runny shampoo or conditioner in these bottles.
The shampoo is a clear gel and the conditioner is a thick cream. The scent is an invigorating blend of fruity and floral and a little slice of heaven. Whilst showering, I may or may not have sniffed the bottles for longer than usual – or than is completely normal. Eh. Don’t judge me.
The Professional Glossing Shampoo ($12) created a lot of cleansing suds – I did not need to repeat the lathering and rinsing with this shampoo. The Professional Glossing Conditioner ($13) slicks through my hair easily.
I found that I needed to let this absorb into my hair to get true moisture. The bottle’s instructions just say apply and rinse, but you need to give this 2-3 minutes for real efficacy. Once I rinsed the conditioner out, I was able to slide a comb right through my hair. Usually it’s a battle of wills between the tangles and me, but with this, the tangles lose every time.
Not only do these products give you the glossy and shiny hair the label promises, they also contain UV protection and are formulated with Argan and Monoi oils. I’ve been having a love affair with Argan oil lately – it’s become famous for the strength and shine it imparts on hair. Monoi oil is new to me, but I’m thinking it should be in everything – it repairs damaged hair and also creates shine. They’re sort of a dynamic duo of oils.
Whether I air-dry or heat-style my hair, the end result is ridiculously shiny and bouncy hair. That is no small feat, mind you. I have very hard well water and most shampoos and conditioners leave me with incredibly limp, dry and dull hair, even the ones promising deep conditioning and shine. Not so with Cristophe’s Professional Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner. Maintaining my obsessively shiny locks just got a lot easier. Whew.
Pros:
• Really makes hair shiny
• Leaves hair smooth and soft
• The smell – the heavenly, heavenly smell
Cons:
• I seem to go through the conditioner much faster than the shampoo. Like, I probably need two bottles of conditioner per one bottle of shampoo.
Overall, I think this duo has earned a place in my shampoo rotation. This is high praise from me, ladies. I’m giving these 5 stars!
we heartsters and testers – Are you as obsessed with shiny hair as I am? Cristophe’s Professional Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner may be the answer to your prayers!
PS: Am I the only person to know about the Cristophe Salon in Beverly Hills primarily because it was featured in the Shelley Long movie, “Troop Beverly Hills”? Um, don’t answer that.
Krista resides in the middle of nowhere with her bff/hubby, an obscenely big-eared dog, and a puppy that makes feral capuchins seem mellow. She has an irrational fear of ax murder, owns more than one machete for home defense/the zombie apocalypse, and goes to sleep serenaded by the sounds of the Chupagobbler, a mythical turkey beast that roams the woods around her house. She also has an obsessive love of Tom Selleck’s moustache that is, quite frankly, alarming.

@krista – you hit the nail on its glossy head with this review.
I can hardly believe how much I love these products. I think they just might be my holy grail shampoo and conditioner… JUST smoothing enough without weighing my hair down, with a great scent, easy rinsing, and super glossy hair when I’m done.
I am coming close to the bottom of both bottles and will buy replacements pronto. I love hair products and own way too many, but I’ve been coming back to these time and time again. 5 stars for Cristophe!
I have used other Christophe products in the past and had a lot of success! I would love to try this particular line. Shiny hair is sometimes hard to get with my curls. So I would love to see if it would work for me. And I totally get the running out of the conditioner thing. It happens to me all of the time! I thought that I was alone. I should buy stock in conditioner. Great review! I will give this one a try!
I could have written this comment word for word!
And I wholeheartedly third the comment about running out of conditioner. I NEVER use up both bottles at the same time!
I honestly don’t know why companies don’t just make the conditioner bottle 2X as big as the shampoo bottle. I always have to buy 2 conditioners to one shampoo. It kind of bums me out. :P
Wow, I’ve been to Cristophe’s in Beverly Hills for cut, color, hi lights, low lights–you name it–and it’s not cheap. Seriously, you can easily drop rent there. Obviously, that’s not a regular thing for me so how exciting to see they have such reasonably priced merchandise available! Super-special to be able to treat oneself!
*jealous* :P lol
These look great, and a system that can add shine while keeping volume is always excellent for me since I have fairly fine hair.
I have fine hair and this still kept my locks bouncy. The key is to rinse VERY WELL. Your hair still is conditioned, etc., but if you don’t rinse well enough, you may get oily, limp roots. As long as I rinse my hair long enough, my hair rocks with this stuff.
I really liked this duo. It smells great–just nice and clean–and it does a good job. I always leave my conditioner in my hair for a few minutes, so I didn’t notice any issues. :) I also seemed to go through more conditioner than shampoo. I think these are really great products, and I really how they made my hair look, feel, and smell. Five stars!
Ooh, very excited to hear it smells devine, I HAVE to have a good smelling shampoo! They also seem pretty reasonable pricewise, so I may have to give them a try, especially since they give great shine.
Just wanted to say I got both of these in my gift bag and I absolutely love them. The smell is DEVINE, can’t get enough of it, and they left my hair amazingly soft and smooth. I will be ordering more for sure!!
