The NEW ELF Active collection–it’s for everyone!

Even though I currently work full time at a fitness studio, teach exercise classes several times a week and used to run a race (or two) every weekend on average, I was initially confused when I was sent the new ELF ACTIVE line of products to test. I never really think of myself as being someone who has “an active lifestyle,” even though most of my friends would probably describe me that way. For me, active lifestyle brings to mind people who “eat clean,” and/or who actually have visible abs, and/or are Instagram famous for their carefully posed #fitspo posts.

In contrast, I wear yoga pants almost daily because they’re comfy AF, I survive thanks to a diet consisting heavily of Annie’s Mac & Cheese and I keep it real, both on and off of social media, like earlier this week when I confessed on Insta that I ate half a pint of ice cream out of the carton.

There is NOTHING especially good or bad, wrong or right, about either of these lifestyles! You do you, boo. But I personally think our culture and social media and advertising really promotes that all or nothing, can’t stop/won’t stop, just do it concept of fitness and health. So it becomes a habit to beat ourselves up over the things we AREN’T doing, instead of being proud of all the things we ARE doing.

From my own experience, the shame spiral of I shouldn’t have eaten/I should have worked out more has never made me more productive, more fit or more content. My focus on feeling good in my own body by taking care of it, strengthening it and nourishing it. That can, and probably should, look different for every person, because we have different bodies.

However you chose to move your body, there’s ELF ACTIVE to keep you looking good while you do. The ELF ACTIVE Workout Ready Hydration Stick ($8) is infused with shea butter, cocoa, aloe and grape to refresh, hydrate, cool and soothe skin. Just glide it over your face, neck or arms and blend it out using your fingers. The little twist up tube is smaller than I expected for the price point, but it definitely felt great on my face, which is typically oily but during the winter gets dry and tight! Rather than post workout, I like to apply it after I wash my face before bedtime.

ELF ACTIVE Post-Workout Cool Down Mist ($8) is so pleasant for a quick, cool spritz post-workout on both my face and body. It can also be used as a makeup setting spray. My makeup doesn’t tend to have issues staying put, so I can’t vouch for how well this does or does not work, but it sure didn’t hurt! The light, clean fragrance is nice and understated. I love to carry this around in my purse/workout bag to freshen up.

The ELF ACTIVE Post-Workout Cleansing Body Wipes (20 sheets, $3) are my fave product in this line. It has the same fresh, clean scent as the cooling mist and hydration stick, and is perfect for a quick wipe-down after class when I don’t have time for a shower. They’re infused with aloe vera to soothe skin. They aren’t as effective as my current makeup-removing wipes at taking off foundation and mascara, but I still LOVE these wipes strictly for post-workout refreshing! I’m definitely going to keep these on hand at all times, since they’re handy when I need to head straight from the studio to the grocery store. I’m certain other shoppers will appreciate it too.

ELF ACTIVE Sweaty Resistant Mascara & Brow Duo ($6) is perfect for those of you who want a “no makeup” look. The mascara didn’t flake, smudge or run, even when I had sweat dripping into my eyes, and my eyebrows still looked great at the end of class thanks to the clear brow gel.

The ELF ACTIVE Workout Ready Lip & Cheek Palette ($8) contains four universally flattering shades that are sweat-resistant and promise not to clog pores. The three neutral colors are all fairly pigmented, and the shimmery 4th shade is pretty for mixing or for highlighting. I found the formula a little sticky on my cheeks and blending was a little difficult, but REALLY loved it for lips! The included mirror and brush made application easy-peasy.
