There is little better than when my favorite things combine. Peanut butter and chocolate, salt and caramel, and finally the (not so fattening) independent retailers and natural products! So when I received products from Natural E, an independent Etsy retailer, I was thrilled. Created to “simplify your beauty routine by offering an edited collection of products that truly work,” Natural E is made with the consumer in mind.

At the top of my list of Natural E products to try? Their all natural Shea Butter Body Scrub ($18). As soon as I opened the jar I was struck by the scrumptious scent of sweet almond oil. It was all I could do not to take a taste! With notes of orange and honey, it’s a sweet treat for a summer morning shower.

One of the best things about the scrub is that it’s designed to leave a light, moisturizing barrier on the skin so you can skip the steps of applying lotion! Since this scrub doesn’t foam and doesn’t feel particularly cleansing, I prefer to use soap first. I follow up with the Shea Scrub which leaves my skin smelling amazing and beautifully moisturized all day long.

Remember that soap I mentioned using before the scrub? That would be Natural E’s Organic Oatmeal Soap with Honey Almond and Orange ($8). This soap is about as utilitarian as soap can get- no excessive scents, no unnatural dyes, no nonsense.

The orange honey scent is very light, with the predominant scent being that of oatmeal. It will suds well due to the glycerin that is added, but this also made it feel a bit drying. I was definitely left with that “squeaky” clean feeling, but that’s not always a bad thing! There is no lasting scent once it has rinsed off, making it a great family soap that everyone will like to use.

For those looking to save some time in their shower routine, check out the Earth Solid Body Scrub and Soap ($12). Another review team member tested this soap and scrub combo that’s eco-friendly (no plastic jar needed) and stuffed with natural exfoliants like walnut and bamboo powder. It also contains an essential oil blend of frankincense, myrrh, patchouli and vanilla with light notes of lemon, rose and lavender – yum. Touted to exfoliate, cleanse and moisturizer all at once, I can’t wait to check the comments and see what our tester thought of this circular bar.

I also tested the Herbal Bliss Healing Lip Balm in Pure Rose ($12 each). This lip balm includes a number of moisturizing oils including jojoba, macadamia and wheat germ oil as well as alkanet powder to “enhance your lip’s natural color.”

Sadly, pregnancy does funny things to your sense of smell (and mine was pretty strong to begin with) and I didn’t have much luck using Pure Rose as a lip balm. The mixture of wheat germ oil and rose essential oils creates a scent that I simply cannot put that close to my nose (at least while carrying a tiny human inside of me).

However, I’ve happily found multiple uses for this balm including cuticle care, as a healing balm for scratches and scrapes, and a treatment for dry elbows. It melts quickly with my body heat and is absorbed with little residue. Even with all the gardening I’ve been doing lately, my cuticles have never looked better!

Other wht team members tested more from Natural E’s carefully curated shop, including the Flowers and Herbs Face Serum ($16 for 1/4 ounce). This super moisturizing serum is designed to eliminate the need for face creams and is packed with powerful natural ingredients (like rosehip, Seabuckthorn berry, rose geranium and calendula) to soothe, repair and rejuvenate skin.

Another lucky wht tester is smelling lush and tropical right now thanks to the Virgin Coconut Conditioner ($22). This handmade treat not only smells divine, it’s loaded with good for your hair ingredients including plant based conditioners to detangle dry hair, virgin coconut and avocado for deep moisturizing and rose geranium essence to add shine.

Pros:
Independent company
Handcrafted products
A little bit of each product goes a long way

Greens:
Multi-use products with all natural ingredients
Limited packaging

Cons:
Some herbal scents can be off-putting if you have a sensitive sniffer

Overall I’m quite pleased with the offerings from Natural E. Natural products, that work, from an independent seller. You can’t ask for much more.

Testers – how did you fare with the products of Natural E? Do these handcrafted, all natural goodies help ease your Etsy addiction guilt?

  1. This sounds like a really wonderful line! I especially want to check out the conditioner and the body scrub. They sound like the perfect addition to my summer hair and body care routine.

  2. I didn’t test any of the Natural E products, but I totally want the Earth Solid Body Scrub and Soap for my shower. Love the idea of a solid scrub and soap in one and for some reason I have a thing for circular soaps…they just seem fancier to me.

And how much do I love that you can find these indie, handcrafted companies on Etsy? WHat did we ever do without it?

    1. Etsy is a perfect and yet dangerous indie habit. I LOVE that I can search for independent retailers providing just about every service imaginable, but those late nights with insomnia and a lap top? Dangerous! At least I can feel good about my purchases, hah!

  3. @mandaleem , these products sound good enough to eat. Organic Oatmeal Soap with Honey Almond and Orange, Virgin Coconut Conditioner… YUM! Thanks for introducing us to this line!

    1. I’m telling ya, some mornings it’s all I can do to not lick myself when using the Shea Scrub! It smells so, so, SO good!

  4. I love handcrafted items such as this organic line because 9 times out of 10, they’re hands on involved in every aspect of its production.. which means they are passsionate about the product themselves.. kinda makes all the difference in the world to me when consuming/using any products.

  5. I got to check out Natural E’s Flowers and Herbs Face Serum.
It reminded me of another product I love and I was so impressed with the ingredients, I just had to show my husband.. No, he didn’t use it, but he thought it had a lot of great quality ingredients!
What I liked most was how it made my skin feel super soft and it also absorbed immediately into my skin. I love the name “Flowers and Herbs” and this is just what’s in this.. I also like that they include CoQ10.. That’s the first time I ever heard of it being in a serum.. I used the Face Serum right after the shower by massaging it into my skin.. It’s a great nighttime treat for you skin. I also have used this during the day while I was home over the weekend and loved how it worked.. It’s not oily either, if your wondering about that. I would buy this again. I would, I would! I also love the packaging- it’s so organic. Definitely getting my five stars!

    1. I’m highly considering gifting a tube of the Flowers and Herbs serum to my sister, as well as buying one for myself! A friend used to make a serum somewhat like this one and I LOVED it. So glad there’s another independent retailer out there serving up the good stuff!

  6. The Shea Scrub sounds amazing and you had me at the smell alone! Great review @mandaleem.

  7. As I scoop out the very last dredges of the Shea Scrub from it’s jar I’m mourning the end of the Natural E goodness. Sure, it leaves my tub a little slippery and it’s a never ending fight to not eat it, but I seriously love this stuff. The scrub lasted much longer than the soap because a little bit can go a long way (it’s super duper moisturizing even in the tiniest amounts). Not to mention that I think I was the only one using the scrub but I couldn’t get the boys’ hands off of the soap! It’s seriously great stuff.
I’m really hoping that once I’ve delivered the wee one my sense of smell will drop from superhuman levels back to normal because this balm is pretty serious stuff. With how well it treats my rough skin I can only imagine it’s healing powers for the lips!
Natural E gets a solid 4 stars from me. (5 stars for the Shea Scrub, 4 stars for the Oatmeal Honey Orange Soap and the Pure Rose lip balm.)

  8. I’m the lucky recipient of the Virgin Coconut Conditioner. Because I’m a sucker for anything with coconut in the name. So, I went in expecting a tropical, piña colada kinda conditioner, totally forgetting that coconut oil (the 2nd ingredient!) doesn’t really smell tropical at all. It’s actually pretty scentless. But totally magical! This makes my hair feel incredible. It has a body butter consistency so it feels more like a mask than a conditioner. And it is so, so luxe. My hair feels like silk when I use it. I have a mask in the shower now that is over double the price and I use this as much. Maybe even more, because it smells amazing too. Not coconutty, but a fruity lavender. It’s yum, yum, yummy. My only complaint is that I wish the jar was bigger, because I’m doling it out like gold.
    5 stars, without a doubt.

  9. I’m a sucker for handcrafted soap. Just ask the soap lady at my local farmer’s market… I buy half a dozen at a time.
