Bobbi Brown Cabana Coralsphoto: we heart this

I love Spring; when things start to come to life again and the world turns green. But mostly, so I can rotate my makeup wardrobe. Yes, I look forward to a new season specifically so I can change up my beauty stash and shed the darker colors of Winter and don the softer shades of Spring. Which is why I’m so excited with Bobbi Brown’s Cabana Corals , her swoon-worthy Spring Collection. Now, we’re a little late to the party in bringing this collection to you, so I’m sure you’ve probably heard the buzz about this already, but if you haven’t already sought it out, you need to do it soon, because some of the items are already sold out!

I typically only wear coral shades during the Spring and Summer months, and even then finding a flattering one can be tricky. Bobbi has taken care of that, of course, saying that the shade range for Cabana Corals “spans from fresh new Pink Corals to universal Nude Corals to true Coral shades—every woman can find the coral shade that’s right for her”. I’m thinking I might need ALL of them…

The line consists of 11 new shades of five different products (Bobbi Brown, you spoil us!) I was lucky enough to test the Metallic Lip Colors in Coral Reef and the Shimmer Bricks in Pink Quartz, and now I want more!

The Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick Compact is the very first Shimmer Brick I’ve ever tried from this brand and I’m a little worried that I may have become addicted. The shades in this brick range from a very pale, almost chalky pink with shimmer, to a deep pink bronze shade. Once you sweep a fluffy brush across the bars, you get a lovely, healthy amount of shimmer that adds so much radiance it should be illegal. Even better, since this brick is composed of more neutral shades, the individual bars look great when applied as eye shadow. My hazel eyes were brightened considerably with just a sweep of this product. As I’m a fan of multi-tasking products, this Shimmer Brick is getting a lot of use. Now I think I might need the Nectar shade because the colors are so stunning and so pigmented that I think it could pass as blush (my weakness, I can never pass up a great blush).

Coral Reef is technically a Metallic Lip Color, but don’t let that scare you because it’s not at all metallic. The color is a very pale, milky peach that applies sheer with a slight hint of shimmer. It reminds me of a softer, retro 60’s lip. I am very fair, so the color disappears a little on me, but I think this would be killer on anyone with an olive complexion or if you had a slight tan (safely applied from a bottle, of course). It screams “beach goddess” to me. I had to apply this with a nude lip liner so my mouth didn’t completely disappear into my face and this really transformed my basic liner into something special. I’m now clamoring for a trip to my local Nordstrom so I can snag Calypso Glaze.

I could keep going on about how fabulous the Cabana Corals are, but that would just take up more of your precious time that is better spent hunting down the gorgeous, limited edition, and getting harder to find pieces of this collection—good luck, ladies!

  1. I have been looking for the perfect coral lipstick for what seems like forever now, and this line sounds like exactly what I’ve been searching high and low for!!! I’m definitely a pale girl myself, so thanks for the recommendation, Krista!!!

  2. Like you, Krista, I only wear coral during the warm-weather months, and just seeing the photo of that beautiful lipstick makes me want to shout, yay! Springtime is here! I will definitely treat myself to a tube (or two) from this line… if I can find them.

  3. I love Bobbi Brown…while you ladies are checking out her coral lipsticks, you should check out her Calypso Coral rouge pot–it looks so pretty and fresh on my cheeks and it doubles as a lip product in a pinch. I swear, I own almost every rouge pot she offers…*secret shame*

  4. @krista – Am I nuts or did Calypso Coral come out a few years ago too, as a LE color?

Cause I think I paid an insane amount for it because I “had to” have it! D’oh.

You know, I’ve never used a shimmer brick either! What’s wrong with me?
.-= Stef´s last blog ..MAC Pret-a-Papier Collection and Launch Party =-.

  5. That shimmer brick looks awwwwwesome! I like that you can use it as an eyeshadow, I’m definitely a fan of multitasking items as well. Dang it, there is so much make up I want to get now that it’s spring!!

  6. @stef –It did! I ended up picking it up super cheap at the Cosmetic Company Outlet when I was first trying out this brand(it’s an outlet store that carries brands like MAC, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Origins, etc.–the stuff is usually Ltd. edition stuff from the previous year–totally a treasure trove if you’re hunting for something in particular). Calypso Coral is such a pretty shade and I like to tell myself it makes me look more youthful. That’s how I talk myself into a lot of the cosmetics I own. I’m my own enabler :P

  7. @krista – I’ve never tried the shimmer bricks! I love them, they’re totally beautiful, but I’ve always worried that the colors would look either too bright, too dirty, or too shimmery. After this stellar review I may have to reconsider and give it a try! Also, I’m a sucker for beautiful coral lip products, so Bobbie Brown has been my go-to girl for the past few summers.

Oh, and the Cosmetic Company Outlet is amazing! I love that place :)

  8. @mandaleem -I always feared the shimmer bricks a little bit, but this one brightens up my face a bit w/out depositing noticeable color, just your face, but brighter, and you only need the teensiest bit—I use a big, fluffy brush, sweep it on the brick, then shake it and blow on the brush to get rid of the excess. The fact that I can use the individual bars as eyeshadow makes this one covet-worthy.
The Cosmetic Company Outlet is awesome–I love trying certain products for the first time, but at a discount. That’s how I got hooked on BB Pot Rouges and Cream eye shadows :)

  9. Thanks for the Calypso Glaze suggestion, Krista! I think I have the same coloring as you and I’ve been looking for a new coral, so I’m gonna check that one out!!

  10. Ohh corals are my favorites. I probably own more coral lip and nail colors than any others. Must check these out!

  11. Great write up Miss Krista.. makes me want more Bobbi Brown!!! Coral gorgeousness! :)

  12. Excellent review! Even though I’m all about budget-beauty, I’ve got say that Bobbi Brown is one temptress I cannot resist. Those shimmer bricks are insanely gorgeous and I love BB lipsticks like there is no tomorrow. I must, must, must get my hands on these! Sold. :)
