More fun than Björk in a stork dress – it’s MAC Icelandic Cool! One of three collections that are part of the MAC Me Over launch, and it’s an icy beauty.

Developed through an online contest, MAC asked entrants to complete the following statement “MAC Me Over! Because…” Six people were chosen by Vice President and Creative Director James Gager (we’ll share two in the bottom of each of the collection’s posts), and three collections were created/curated to MAC the winners over. The collections, 51 pieces in total, are a mix of new limited editions, relaunches and permanent colors.

Fatigues, Quiet Time

Quiet Time

Nail Lacquer
I’m going to get straight into my personal favorite part of this collection. I love, love, love the two lacquers we got to try. Quiet Time is a grey nude creme. It’s perfect for those who want a nude nail, but crave a bit more of an on-trend look. I’ve had this on all week and have a hard time concentrating on anything other than the fabulosity of my nails.

Fatigues

Fatigues is no slouch either, an army green creme. Both lacquers are on the thin side (which I find in all MAC polish) and looked best with three coats.

Fatigues

Wee Coquette, Good Times, Spite

Lipglass
It’s cool lipglass party and you’re invited! Wee Coquette is milky white pink with silver shimmer. Good Times looks a lot like a darker Wee Coquette, doesn’t it? It’s a pale greyed pink. But unlike Wee, no shimmer. Spite is a medium plum nude creme.

Shadestick
Not quite a cream, these pencil shadows take a bit of elbow crease to blend. But once they do, they wear for ages. Although you don’t have to blend them, they make great liners too. Heirloom is a silvery pink. I love Cakeshop, an extra shimmery light greyish green. Tundra is silver with a slight bluish cast. Steel Cool is a mid-tone taupe that leans heavy to purple rather than grey.

Heirloom, Cakeshop, Tundra, Street Cool

Here’s a look at two of the six winners and their winning answers…

Shirley Daley:
“I am going to change the world, one smile at a time.”

Xee Lo:
“M·A·C gives me the confidence to feel beautiful in my skin.”

How about it readers, are you feeling the chill of Icelandic Cool?

  1. Wow those shade sticks are amazing! I love metallic eyes, love love love them! Heirloom and Street Cool are definitely something that my makeup wardrobe is lacking. And wearing any of them with Spite, wow, that would be a face!

  2. Spite and Steel Cool are my favorites from this bunch, although Quiet Times and Fatigues are next.
I’m not in love with the formula for MAC polishes so the color really has to wow me, but I’m having a hard time thinking of another brand that has a nail color like either one of those. At my first glance, they both seem fairly tame, but something about the way they are normal cremes but muted and almost dirty or dusky somehow makes me want to try them both!

    1. @lyssachelle – I think you totally pegged it, these lacquers are but muted and absolutely have some thing dirty to them. I LOVE ’em!

  3. I’ve been delirious with the worst summer cold ever or I would have stated that I will not rest until I own that Fatigues nail polish or Cakeshop shadestick. I have a weakness for green polishes and greenish eye shadows–doesn’t matter what shade. I see green, I must have. It’s that simple *sigh* *cough*

  4. I received my first MAC lipglass to test out. It’s called “Wee Coquette”- its super sheer and carries a loaded shinny neutral pink punch! I like that you only need to use a small amount of this product and can be worn over other lipstick/gloss. I love the way it looks on and lasts for hours! The only negative is I think the container is small and I think that $14.50 is a little high for the amount. Four stars!

  5. Looking at Heirloom in the picture and in the tube, I didn’t think it would go well with my darker skintone. I was SO wrong, the pink in it takes the edge off of the cool tone and just makes it shimmery and lovely. It’s my first Shadestick, but it will not be my last; this baby does NOT budge. I first tested it on my hand and it took VIGOROUS rubbing to get it to fade. I’m so in love, 5 stars from me!

  6. I got to try out Good Times lipglass and the description is right on, it is a very pale grey, pink without the shimmer. It was a hard one for me to wear alone because, being so light, it kind of washed me out, but I think it will work well to wear on top of stronger lipsticks to mute them out a bit. As always though, I still adore the consistency and staying power of MAC lipglasses and think they’re worth every penny! Four stars for me mainly because the color wasn’t the best tone on me.

  7. I got to try out the shade stick in Cakeshop–it is magnificent!!! It’s a pale sage green with lots of sparkle. This cream shadow applies so smoothly and easily–and the color does amazing things for my yellow/green hazel eyes. This didn’t last super long–maybe 2 hours before the color payoff faded, although there was a hint of sparkle left behind. Once I used primer on my lids, this lasted a solid 4 hours, though it did crease a little–I did fluff some translucent shimmer powder over my lids while wearing this and it did seem to help set these without dulling the color. I do wish these lasted longer, but the color is just so darn pretty and flattering. I’m giving this one 4 stars, one point deducted because they don’t wear as long as I’d prefer.
