I’ve often been told that Australia is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Amongst seasoned traveler friends, it’s generally at the top of their repeat destination list. So, is it that far of stretch to think that products from Australia would be some of the most beautiful too? I think Jurlique proves this theory!

Imagine a lush farm in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. A 165 acre farm that grows over 50 different varieties of plants and flowers, including lavender, rose, marshmallow, licorice and calendula (my favorite herb ever!) That’s the Mylor farm, and since 1985 it’s been the starting point for all Jurlique products. Of course the farm is organic and sustainable, but they also go above and beyond with special attention paid to the things like the health of the soil and the cycles of the earth that affect seeding, propagating, growing, and harvesting. They call it Biodynamic farming and it’s what makes Jurlique so unique and their products so organically beautiful.

And just like an herb on their farm, Jurlique is growing too. Their Biodynamic Beauty products are being renamed the Purely Age-Defying line. Same products, new straight forward name that describes exactly what to expect; pure ingredients that fight all signs of aging.

Amongst the Purely Age-Defying items we received were…

Hand Treatment – this was the item I chose to review. I’ve been having hand issues lately. Paying lots of attention to fighting aging on my face while my hands get ignored. If anyone could help them, I knew Julrique could. This is a high-performance hand cream that promises to help fade discolorations, even skin tone and brighten skin for more youthful looking hands. (Make sure to read the comments to see my review. But here’s a hint…wow!)

Facial Serum – everything you’d want in a serum; lightweight but powerful to counteract the effects of aging. This rich cocktail of organic goodness includes Black Elder, Licorice, Beech Tree Buds, Hibiscus and Yeast to help strengthen the skin. With continued use fine lines and wrinkles lessen for a smooth, youthful appearance (nothing lightweight about that!)

Night Lotion – they can sometimes be heavy, but not Jurlique’s. This is a restorative night lotion that encourages skin renewal while it’s resting. Similar ingredients to the serum (they work as a very powerful team when used together) with added Marshmallow to help with hydration and Calendula help soothe and calm the skin.

Refining Treatment – glowing skin, here you come! Over 12 organic ingredients combine their living energy to soothe, cleanse and refine the skin to reveal a fresh, clean complexion. Who doesn’t need a good scrub now and again?

Eye Cream – amongst the many amazing ingredients in this, Arnica is one of the most exciting. I’ve seen what it can do on bruises (it makes them disappear in half the time) so it only leads me to believe it can do the same on eye puffiness and discolorations.

But it doesn’t stop there. Make sure to read the comments to see our Review Team’s thoughts on not only the items above, but 3 other products too: Purely Age-Defying Day Cream SPF 15, Lavender Hydrating Mist and Citrus Hand Cream.

  1. As I mentioned, I chose the Purely Age-defying hand treatment to test. Ever since I read that your hands show signs of aging even more so than your face, I’ve been in a “I have old hands” frenzy. It makes sense, you concentrate on aging on your face (choosing good products, using spf, etc.) and your hands get ignored. Plus, they get a lot of sun! Never good. So, a $49 hand cream targeted directly to my concerns? I couldn’t resist.

This treatment is pretty darn amazing. I have a whole slew of hand creams in my bedside drawer. Some smell good, some moisturize well, some soak in quickly (so I don’t smear the ink in my books). None do all of those at once, except now! Jurlique meets every criteria that I have for a hand cream. Plus, my hands looked better with just one use. And the improvements stuck around. It wasn’t a quick fix. The best thing I can say is that the desert summer sun usually does such a number on my hands. Ever since I got this, my hands have looked really good (downright youthful even) and feel good too.

Only one star off for the price. It is pricey. But if you have “old hand” issues, like me. I think this is a very worthy purchase.

  2. I have red, blotchy, and dry skin so when I tried the Purely Age-Defying Night Lotion I was thinking it was just going to leave me with empty promises like all the other lotions I have tried. So you can imagine the joy I got when I woke up the next morning and the red blotches were gone from face and my skin still felt smooth and hydrated. Just in one night I could tell a major difference. The lotion dried fairly quickly as well leaving my face feeling refreshed instead of slimy. I hate laying my face down on my pillow at night with a slimy face. Sometimes I have to shake my head vigorously to dry it. But with Jurlique I didn’t have to look like a loon. I could walk to bed and fall right to sleep without a slimy face.

I bet when you pair this with the Facial Serum it’s like a magician to a wand to your face and said “Abracadabra!” and *Poof* you look years younger!

I only have one complaint. It has a weird smell. Maybe it’s just too much of an “earthy” smell for me, but I thought it kind of smelled like dirty black licorice. I’m not a fan of black licorice, much less dirty black licorice….so that knocked it down a few stars for me.

  3. I should try the hand lotion for the as Stef said “old hands issue.” I never realized I had old hands until seeing the professional photos they took of me and my new daughter in the hospital…if I could post it here I would – it is disgusting!! the photo itself should be so beautiful – my hand holding hers – but even the black and white one looks like I’m made of leather. Even my mom said, “Eew, I was hoping they’d airbrush those wrinkles out!!” If only I’d had some Jurlique to use beforehand…I’ll have to ask my brother’s new girlfriend about it, who is in town from none other than Australia!

  4. I received the Purely age-defying eye cream to try. It’s more rich than what I’m used to, so for that reason I’ve been using it as only a night eye cream. But my skin really likes it. It’s very moisturizing, I swear it’s like my wrinkles are drinking it! I don’t have a problem with dark circles, so I can’t speak to what this does for them. But I’ve got a Arinca cream I use on bruises (I’m clumsy!) and it’s pretty amazing, they literally disappear overnight. So I agree with Stef on that, the fact that this has Arnica makes me think this would be great for dark circles.

This cream smells good, absorbs well and is nice and rich. Have I seen any miracles? Sadly, no. But it’s a good product that I would probably buy again.

  5. I love the adorable “cherry blossoms” on the packaging and the earthy, herbal smell of the Age Defying Day Cream. Definite boost in points because of the SPF 15, and NO white streakyness from trying to blend it into my skin. I haven’t felt overly oily or anything from using this product, but it’s just so-so. It’s a good moisturizer, but not my favorite ever.

But that refining treatment sounds RIGHT up my alley!

  6. I received the Purely Age-Defying Facial Serum to try. First off, let me start by saying that I LOVE serums so I was so excited to try this. I’ve been using this religiously since I received it. Since that time, I’ve noticed several dark spots that had been with me for quite awhile lighten considerably and my once aggravated skin really has been quite calmer. I can’t say my fine lines are gone, but I do feel like my face is definitely more hydrated after using this.

I love that this product is chocked full of good ingredients that I can feel good about putting on my skin. I do feel like I’m seeing a difference in my overall skin tone. I think the more I use this, the more results I will see. Overall, I really like this serum and have seen some good results after using it and I would buy this product again. I give it 4 stars.

  7. I tried the Lavender Hydrating Mist and it is really lovely. Very hydrating, and has a nice calming Lavender scent. A good thing to keep handy near your desk… long hours on the computer and cups of coffee to keep you going can leave you dehydrated! So having a nice bottle of water for your interior! And this mist for your face will keep you alert and hydrated.

I have to say I don’t think I’d rush out to spend the 31 dollars again when I run out, I may make my own mist in these penny pinching times, but if you are very dry and you want to give your skin some extra tlc this is money well spent. It’s free of anything that may irritate, it’s actually quite calming!

The only flaw to me is the price tag is a little high for a mist.

    So 4 stars from me.

  8. I’m a big fan of Jurlique – even more so since they redesigned their packaging a while back. I’ve used the serum – I only got a sample pack so it didn’t last that long, so it’s hard to tell if it had any major effect. But it did feel lovely on the skin – and as Tiffany says, it’s so much nicer to put that on than something loaded with chemicals.

    And, agreed, it is pricey!

    Love Australia, love Jurlique!!!

  9. I’m dying to go to this location in LA. I couldn’t wait to try Jurlique’s “Intense Recovery Mask” this week. It is super hydrating, and left my skin feeling great.. I noticed it was smoother feeling and I even looked refreshed for a change! I sound like a broken record, but I have sentive skin sometimes, and this product really was nice to treat my skin with. It is so easy to use too. I just applied a nice layer of this to my face and neck with my fingertips- staying clear of my eyes and mouth, and sat in my massage chair for about 15 minutes (my poor husband had to walk past me and see me all relaxed in my chair-looked like a wet noodle or worse). I think it may have been longer the first time, becuase I fell asleep in my chair. After that, it was easy to remove with a warm water.. I just used a 100% cotton ball that I soaked in warm water. I can’t wait to use this again next week.. I wonder if its okay to do this more then once a week?
Stef, this stuff has your favorite ingredent in it… Guess?? Okay, i’ll tell you. Calendula! Yes, I love this hydrating mask. It’s rich in wonderufl herbs and oils that really do work! Thank you for the opportunity to give this a whirl! I will buy this when it’s empty!

  10. I’ve worked with quite a few Jurlique products, and some I like more than others. My favourite products that I think are definitely worth the money are: the hand creams (especially the delicious smelling rose one) the lip balm (expensive, but insanely soft lips if you use it twice a day), the calendula cream, the moisture replenishing day cream (seriously AMAZING for dry skin, the second you put it on, you notice the difference of this vs all other moisturizers. I feel a surge of moisture!) but may leave it a bit shiny… but if you have annoyingly dry skin, you won’t mind at all. The eye gel, and herbal recovery gel are ok, but I much prefer the purely age-defying serum. Also, the wrinkle softening cream is not the greatest at reducing fine lines, but if you can afford to spend a little extra, it makes a seriously good moisturizer and probably would help to prevent wrinkles much better than treat existing ones. The mists are really lovely scents, but I haven’t noticed much skin benefit from them.

At any rate, the quality is apparent. If you want results only, then you’re better off using a high-end product with synthetics and chemicals. But when it comes to holism and preventative aging, Jurlique is great :)

  11. Hi Daren,

Thanks so much for your detailed comment! You must work in the spa industry to be able to try so much from this brand.

I think you summed it up perfectly. Well said! And I have to agree with you, the hand cream is out of this world.

  12. I have had the chance to try Jurlique’s Purely Age-Defying Refining Treatment for the last four months, and I really love it. After I use it, my skin is smooth, clean and looks younger. One time I used it just before a good friend came over, and she beamed “Your skin looks great! What are you going?” It is just such a marvelous treat especially when it works so well.
