We heart this hearts all things French. From macaroons, to French country decor, to Louboutin; the French just have a way of doing things, how do you say…fabulously. But perhaps what we love most of all is their skincare. Give us a bottle or jar of a French potion, and you’ll hear so much swooning you’d swear Pio Marmaï was in the room. (Look him up.)

All this is to say I went into my review of the La Roche-Posay Rosaliac collection with a slight bias. But I had no idea just how much I’d love these products. The answer was: a lot! Just in time for April’s Rosacea Awareness Month, two products from the line arrived.

You see, I am one of the 16 million Americans affected by the chronic, but treatable skin disorder. Sure, you can slather yourself in sunscreen. You can avoid spicy foods and alcohol. You can avoid hot water. But if you have Rosacea, you’re going to have occasional flare-ups. Of course, arming yourself with a regime of good products helps tremendously. Let me introduce you to two…

La Roche-Posay Rosaliac AR Intense Localized Redness Intensive Care ($39.95) is designed to reduce redness and irritated skin (that’s Rosacea to a tee.) It not only works visibly, it has anti-relapse efficacy so that it can help prevent the progression and reoccurrence of redness.

AR Intense follows La Roche-Posay’s minimalist philosophy, limiting ingredients to reduce chances of side effects and reactivity. Free of preservatives, parabens, fragrance, alcohol, dyes and lanolin, it has the color and texture of what I’d describe as creamy honey. I feared it would be too rich for my oily skin, but my skin drank this in like the poor, parched thing it is. That’s right, my oily skin is somehow also dry. Rosacea can really confuse skin.

AR Intense instantly calmed my skin, moisturized it without making it greasy and kept it that way all day. It is, in a word, amazing. Or, incroyable, as the case may be. I will NEVER be without this product again.

Speaking of amazing, the La Roche-Posay Rosaliac CC Cream ($39.95) is as well. It’s the very first over-the-counter redness correcting cc cream. Not only does it cover, it treats. A study showed a 24% percent reduction of visible redness on bare skin after 8 weeks of use thanks to some heavy-hitting ingredients. Ambophenol, a plant found in Madagascar traditionally used as a sedative and pain reliever, is used by the pharmaceutical industry to calm and soothe. And Neurosensine not only visibly corrects, it reduces discomfort and heat sensations.

The science behind how it covers it interesting as well. It uses a mix of red, white, yellow and black pigment. Red neutralizes existing redness, white makes it opaque, yellow adds a nude tone and black adds intensity. It covers beautifully, in one universal shade and with a light, moisturizing formula that never settles in my pores or lines. All with an SPF 30 too.

The two La Roche-Posay Rosaliac products have provided a dramatic change in my skin, and I don’t use that term lightly! My skin just doesn’t seem as angry as it was three weeks ago. It feels significantly better. And what little redness there is gets camouflaged to the point of non-existence.

Oui, the French have done it again…

  2. The ingredients in these look amazing–is it wrong that I don’t have Rosacea but still want to try both products anyway??

  3. Love La Roche Posay products! I have the ciciplast lip balm and hand cream. They’re great for sensitive skin since they have no fragrance. Thanks for reviewing these. I’m going to check them out.

  4. Looks interesting! I’ve always heard so many good things about La Roche Posay but sadly, the brand is not available in my country :( Still looking for online stores that sell them so I could at least try some of their best sellers!

  5. Hi – I bought this product 2 days ago (Rosaliac Intense) and I’m confused as to how to apply it. Is it like a serum, under moisturizer or on its own?
