Le Métier de Beauté Breathless Kaleidoscope Lip Kitphotos: we heart this

Le Metier de Beaute made their mark in makeup by creating revolutionary skincare and classic color palettes in incredibly luxurious formulations. The company made their mark with me earlier this fall when they invited me to sample their to-die-for Chem60 Pro-Peel and GLOW10ai Mask Set (God, that is a magnificent product!)

In addition to a complimentary Pro-Peel treatment, I was also given my first peek of the Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Breathlessicon ($95). Aptly named for any fan of red since breathless is just how you’ll feel when you spin open the gorgeous chrome-colored stacked cylindrical compact containing four must-have shades of red – there’s even a mirror under the hood!

Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Breathless

Included in this gorgeous kit of long-wearing, non-drying and impressively pigmented reds (from the bottom layer up) are:

Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Breathless in light raspberry red shade

Celluloid – sheer, light raspberry red with subtle shimmer

Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Breathless in rich warm red shade with a more matted finish

Beau – rich warm red with a more matted finish

Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Breathless in a glittering dusty mauve rose with a near-gloss finish

Existential – a glittering dusty mauve rose with a near-gloss finish

Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Breathless in a true-blue red with a creamy matte finish

Cinema – a true-blue red with a creamy matte finish and beautiful pigment

As expected the mattes wear longer that the glossier colors but both last for hours. Even when wiped or worn off, the pigment stains the lips for all-day and night tint. The only lip color I’ve used with similar long wear is OCC’s Lip Tar and, while I do love that product, LMdB’s packaging is infinitely more elegant and not nearly as messy.

As I mentioned, I was first introduced to the Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Breathless after that complimentary Pro-Peel treatment. Scott, my LMdB expert, adorned my lips lightly with Existential, the perfect complement to dewy new skin. The glittery gloss gives lips new dimension, virtually plumping them with the smoke and mirrors of a well-crafted product.

While I knew my mid-morning makeup face that day at Neiman Marcus was well suited to Existential, the red lover in me longed for the Cinema and Beau that Scott flashed before me. He told me then that I had the right tone for any of the colors in this Kaleidoscope and he was dying to try a deep red on me.

But it was eleven a.m. and the thermometer was on its way to triple digits in an early fall Southern California heat wave. It didn’t seem right. We both held back, a decision I regretted until the Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Breathless showed up in my mailbox.

Well, it’s the holidays so these deep reds are getting quite the workout! While blistering mid-mornings aren’t ideal for a wonderful blood red, the more wintery sweater weather means to me that I can wear the deep, darks all day and still party with them all night. I’ve been fond of topping them all with Existential for sparkle and shine, too.

Celluloid makes frequent appearances on my winter lips as well, great for those days when a more neutral red and a touch of shimmer is more appropriate. There’s a time for everything, and the time for Breathless has come. Scott, you should see me now!

And speaking of the holidays, is there a more perfect gift for the elegant women in your life? This is exactly the kind of product I love to give (and receive) because it is a true luxury, a special splurge many may not indulge in for themselves. Certainly, I’d much, much prefer this Kaleidoscope to a coffee maker.

Dear Santa,
If you’re reading this, whatever toys you got me this year are fine, but I could always use another Kaleidoscope!
Love, Sherri

P.S. I did love the coffee maker you sent a couple Christmases ago. Keep up the good work!

we heartsters – are you wearing deep red lips all holiday season long?

  1. Oooh gorgeous, and the packaging is fun. A bit spendy… but maybe Santa will drop one in my stocking too! ;)

I’m usually chicken about wearing reds (I ALWAYS get it on my teeth!!) but I’ve been loving MAC Viva Glam I, or Laura Mercier Lip Lacque in Laque Rouge (with the matching lip pencil). I actually wore it to my company holiday party and did need a few touch ups during the night, and I did get a *little* on my teeth, but I feel like a grown up wearing red lipstick instead of my usual nude/pink gloss!

    1. Do you know the trick for helping to minimize lipstick on the teeth? Put your finger in your mouth, pucker your lips and close them around your finger, then slowly pull your finger out. It takes the lipstick off the inner part of your lips and you get less of it on your teeth. It helps a lot!

  2. This looks super sexy and awesome!! I want it badly!! Let’s hope that Santa is listening!!!!

  3. Dear Santa, I would like, no I would LOVE : Le Metier de Beaute’s Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Celluloid, Beau, Existential and Cinema!
I love wearing reds around the holidays.. The rest of the year, I am pretty non assuming with nudes and light shades of corals..

  4. Aie aie aie! Pricey for sure, but with all those colors, it’s an investment, right??? I may have to admire the stunning kalidescope from afar until after the holidays, but Le Metier sure does make some stunning colors!

  5. These swatched better than ANY lipstick I’ve had on my arm all year! Those matte red are so beautifully pigmented – and they stuck around too. Hard to wash off and left a bit of stain when they did.

I generally prefer my lipstick in tubes, but the packaging of this is so luxurious that I’d gladly make an exception!

What a line LMdB is – nothing but love for EVERYTHING I’ve tried.

  6. Oh my these are beautiful. I love reds and I love LMdB. The quality of their products is worth the money.

  7. I received one of these Lip Kits as a gift earlier this year perhaps – I don’t know if it’s this exact one but the colors are in the red family. Simply put, it’s amazing. I didn’t think that a palette of lip colors would be of interest to me – I like lip products in tube form. One day I tested it out on a whim and holy moly, the pigmentation is amazing! I just dabbed on a bit and had a full pout immediately. The staying power is no joke. I don’t know any other time in my life I would’ve tried this (aside from wht perhaps ;) but I’m glad I got to experience Le Metier De Beaute!

  8. Most of us on a budget are a bit taken aback by that price tag, but none of us would likely blink twice at spending 25 bucks for a premium lipstick. Since there are 4…well, do the math. The fact that these are so long-wearing and such lovely, flattering shades, I’m apt to say this is practically a bargain! Practically. @mandabear, you’re a lucky lady to have such a beauty savvy friend to gift this to you!

  9. the packaging and the pigmentation looks great :O definitely on my christmas list

    1. @Anne – I think this one is on a LOT of Christmas lists! Thanks for your comment :)

  10. WOW. I am not a red fan (So bold! So daring! So scary!) but that packaging has be drooling…

    1. There are other Kaleidoscopes with different colors if you’re not (gasp!!) a red fan.

  11. I think I’m in love…but it shall be an unrequited love because the hubby and I are on an austerity plan for 2013. Stupid. Austerity. *pouts, kicks at the ground* The packaging is killing me and I love red lips, but somehow I don’t think the hubby will believe me when I say it’s an “essential” item. *pouts some more*
