Pub Food and skincare: two of the things that Brits have sorted
The first time I heard of Elemis was when I was staying at a hotel in Edinburgh at the tail end of a 2-week trip to Scotland. I was out of all of the toiletries I’d packed for the trip and was resigned to using hotel toiletries for the last few days.
If you’re like me, most hotel shampoos, conditioners, body washes and moisturizers are no-go’s. Cheaper shampoos and conditioners make my hair frizz and break, and a cheap moisturizer can make my sensitive skin break out in hives. I’m extremely cautious about the products I use.
After a long trip of most hotels offering only a shampoo/body wash combo product in cheap pumps in the showers, I was excited to see the beautiful Elemis bottles staring back at me from the bathroom counter. The Elemis products I used were luxurious and gentle, and I was hooked. So you can imagine my delight when I got to try the Elemis Gentle Foaming Facial Wash.
Their products aren’t just effective, they’re a sensory experience.
So, some brief background on Elemis: The #1 luxury British skincare brand is touted as being a blend between science and nature, possessing high-performance formulations. Their products are created using biological actives, natural ingredients and intricately blended aromatics. Their products aren’t just effective, they’re a sensory experience.
Elemis Gentle Foaming Facial Wash ($36/5 fl. oz.) gently cleans away pollutants and impurities while maintaining your skin’s natural oils and moisture.
It contains Amazonian pracaxi oil, which is high in behenic acid, a natural emollient which preserves and restores skin’s moisture. That’s combined with a natural oil-busting apple amino acid, along with anti-oxidant rich orange peel wax–all of which work together to create an incredibly gentle cleanser that not only fights oil and dirt, but it leaves your skin incredibly soft and refreshed. Skin feels clean, but not stripped. If you have oily skin that is also sensitive, this is truly a “Goldilocks” facial cleanser that is just right.
This incredibly gentle cleanser comes in a sleek, white tube that will stand proudly next to your sink. The face wash itself is an ivory cream with a touch of pearl to it and it smells heavenly–it’s a soothing blend of floral and herbal that instantly relaxes. You only need a small amount of product and some water to create a creamy foam that smoothes easily over the face. This is a perfect cleanser for any facial brush, like a Clarisonic or Foreo, because it cleanses with zero irritation. If you have sensitive skin like I do, prepare to have a new favorite!
