CAPTURING BEAUTY AND MYSTERY FROM THE AFTER HOURS…

The clock strikes midnight – where are you? Most of the time I’m already asleep, dreaming in my cozy bed. Being a night owl really does get harder as you get older! However, I do have my fair share of birthday parties, weddings and now upcoming holiday parties that tend to dip into the wee hours of the night. Nighttime makeup is not a well known territory for me. I want my face to look good, not a whole day old, right? Right.

So that’s why I’m thankful for MAC Divine Night – a new collection just in time for the holidays, dedicated to that moment of flair and excitement you get from a flash of light in the dark. It’s all about those moments and the colors that you experience when it’s not sunny out.

This is the only MAC holiday collection that offers individual products as the other collections consist of palettes or sets of products. Divine Night offers wearable shades in their Mineralize Blush and Skinfinish balanced out with rich, contrasting shades for the lips and a final glaze of nail polish that will only get you noticed! We reviewed the following showstoppers and I got to say, you’ll be feeling the need for glamour after this!

Divine Night Mineralize Blush ($27.50)

Talk of the Town – Warm peachy pink champagne

What’s wonderful about MAC’s Mineralize Blushes is that shimmer you get from an effortless swipe of the brush. These blushes are no exception. While you won’t find any bold shades, you really won’t need them because the shimmer in these are fan-tas-tic.

Talk of the Town was the the perfect shade for my skintone which leans on the neutral yellow side. Sometimes you don’t need a whole lot of pigment in a blush. The warmth and bronze I get from this is outstanding and just a perfect amount to define my cheeks.

Scene to Be Seen – Plum with pink sheen/medium warm rose with gold flecks

You really can’t leave the house without some Mineralize Skinfinish, a cult MAC product in its own right. The ones included in this collection are very cool – there are two colors that you swirl into one or use separately!

We heart this received Scene to Be Seen, the boldest of the three. It’s very warm on my skin and can get just the right amount to show with even the lightest hand. I love that you can mix the two together or use the inner color to highlight more. It’s such a multi tasking product, something I’ll definitely keep in mind when packing for a trip!

Divine Night Lipstick ($16.50)

MAC-Divine-night-lips-6

Private Party – subtle plum
Exclusive Event – dark taupey nude

With six new party ready Lipstick shades in a variety of finishes, you’re bound to find one that suits you. I feel like there’s nothing better than having confidence in a lip color that you know is working for you. Stef kept both of these satin finish shades, saying “I can honestly say I didn’t have any colors like either of these! Especially Exclusive Event, which verges on a grey. I thought it would look sickly, but it’s such a pretty nude.”

Divine Night Cremesheen Glass ($17.50)

Prepare for Pleasure – shiny blue-red

I absolutely love when MAC gives us more Cremesheen Glass selections. They are some of my favorite lip glosses! I am about to introduce to you the top contender for the perfect holiday party lip gloss. It’s called Prepare for Pleasure and it’s a gorgeous bright bluish red. The blue will help make your teeth look whiter. Genius, I say! This will fade into a pretty red stain which will keep you good in between retouches.

Divine Night Nail Lacquer ($17.50)

Military – Black matte with silver suede pearl

MAC-Divine-night-lips-10

Fabulous nails are a must this season and MAC delivers. There are three new nail lacquers and I tested Military, a repromote I’m super happy to see make a reappearance in their holiday collection. It just makes sense: matte black with a silver frost. Despite the dazzle, it’s so classy on. I can see women of all ages enjoying this shade because it will go with all skintones and it’s very fun without being too ‘tween.

This collection is a hit for the holiday and if you see anything that catches your eye now, I would get it before it’s too late! Holiday parties are just around the corner and you know these will be flying off the shelves.

  1. Oooo… Midnight is calling my name… I also love that these are part of a holiday collection, but the lip colors are fairly tame, so you can go nuts with a nice smokey eye. Also, I didn’t realize that about a bluer tint to lip color making your teeth look whiter! After all the holiday coffees, I’m sure a lot of us appreciate that. :-)

    Great review, @mandabear!

    1. Thanks! I totally agree. You bet Prepare for Pleasure will be in my purse for my work holiday party coming up :)

    2. LORD, apparently I’m just renaming products now. MILITARY, not Midnight…

  2. Divine Night Cremesheen Glass is really calling my name and I actually have $17.50 in my pocketbook!! I’m getting it if it’s available! Oh, makeup what would we do without you?

    1. Sometimes the words “limited edition” are all we need in life.

  3. Rachel Shay says:

That red creamsheen lipgloss is calling out my name! Sooooo pretty!

    1. It’s totally my favorite I think! Or at least the most versatile. Of course it’s not totally unique but I love the Cremesheen formula.

  4. This is a pretty collection, perfect for the holidays. That cremesheen glass is pretty enticing! And that nail polish is gorgeous (if only I could get MAC’s formula to work for me!!!)

    1. It’s definitely a holiday party-ish collection for sure. What’s funny is that my job’s holiday party starts at 10:30 a.m. eek!

  5. Private Party is sick!!! I adore it and am super mad that it is sold out. What a gorgeous plum shade! Totally my jam!! Perfect for the holidays. Bold without being and obvious red.

  6. Exclusive Event is sold out online, but I’m going to try to track it down. It’s just the nude I’m looking for. Great review, @mandabear !
