Let’s get the parties started with MAC’s Holiday 2012 collection!
The MAC Glamour Daze collection for Holiday 2012 was inspired by the aura of couture, the drama of the dressing room, and the glamour of getting ready to step out for the holidays.
I confess that every year I look for a few new products to give some extra pizzazz to my basic black holiday gear. In my book, just a few simple makeup pieces with the right pop of color can make you feel festive and holiday ready. This collection does just that.
First up let’s talk nail lacquer. This is one of my favorite ways to add color, and even a bit of sparkle. There are four new Glamour Daze Nail Lacquer shades ($17.50 each) in four finishes; Pearl, Creme, Foil and Glitter. Plus, there is an added bonus, the formulations have conditioners and UV protection. The new colors include:
Endless Nights – pale grey pink with iridescent pink pearlized shimmer
Everything That Glitters – dark black base with multicolored glitter
In The Limelight – pale creamy mint
Girl Trouble – purple-tinged pink foil
Tyna tested Endless Nights, a sheer, shimmery, not-quite-nude lacquer. She says she loved the non-streaky formula, as well as the iridescent sheen it adds to the subtle pink. (I agree – I thought this color was really pretty ~Stef)
When you are really ready to party – New year’s Eve, perhaps? – I suggest you reach for Everything That Glitters. This lacquer takes an edgy deep black and adds a layer of colorful glitter – it’s bound to draw attention from the crowd as you hold a glass of champagne.
In the Limelight is a pale creamy mint. The color reminded me of a green version of a robin’s egg. Stef reports that the color was a bit thick, on the streaky side and pretty much a pain to work with! I had better luck, but think the color would probably look best on medium skin tones or darker (it looked a bit washed out on my cool toned, light skin).
I must say Girl Trouble took me my surprise because I unexpectedly fell in love with this lacquer. While this is a glittery, foiled pink, it still has a subtle quality about it – it’s still glamorous but not over the top for the office. Typically, I am pretty hard on my nails but this is truly a long lasting polish. Hands down this one is my favorite polish I have tried in 2012!
Of course, a MAC collection would not be complete without a few fabulous new shades of Lipsticks and Lipglasses! Glamour Daze offers five limited edition shades in each lip product, and the wht team had the chance to test two shades from each category.
The Glamour Daze Lipsticks ($16.50 each) offer nicely pigmented, creamy color with hours of wear time.
Beauty is a cool light pink with a glaze finish. I found this to be very sheer coverage and great for daily wear. Sadly, this shade is sold out online, but may still be available at your local MAC counter.
Glamourdaze, the namesake lip color, is a cremesheen mid-tone creamy red plum. It was rich and felt creamy on my lips. I really like this color and found it to be a very versatile go-to lipstick to have in my purse, as it works well with almost any color you are wearing.
The Glamour Daze Lipglasses ($16.50 each) offer MAC’s signature color and high gloss.
Pink Fade is a cool milky pink creme that seems to be the doppelganger of the Beauty lipstick. I would consider it almost an ice colored pink because it is so light and sheer.
Deliciously Demure is shimmery light coco. I found the coverage to be opaque and very flattering.

Overall the Glamour Daze collection has just the pieces you need to add some sparkle and shine to your holiday look. It’s full of MAC’s most beloved products and formulas in pretty, time to party down hues. But act quickly, this collection is only available through December 27th.

Okay so the lipsticks and lip glasses in this collection may not totally be for me but those nail colors are unbelievably cute – I think sitting together they look like the perfect party nail collection! Everything That Glitters is THE New Year’s manicure for sure. Thanks for the great review @hao9703!
A big ditto from me! The colors aren’t exactly in my tone, but the nail colors are greatness! In the Limelight reminds me of a lighter version of China Glaze’s For Audrey that was all the rage a few years ago. And Everything That Glitters is STUNNING!
I got Everything That Glitters and it is AWESOME! Great coverage, long lasting and the flecks of turquoise and fuschia are dynamite! Tons of sparkle and rock star shine! Such a fun color and totally agree that this would be perfect for New Years Eve. Seriously, get this one before it’s gone!
Not your typical holiday collection, huh? Being the swatcher, I had the joy of trying everything that we got. And I think if had cool skin, the testers wouldn’t have seen any of these pieces! But being the warm gal that I am, not a lot of it worked for me (but the things that did, I LOVE! They’re in the eyes and cheek review…) I really loved the Endless Nights nail lacquer for being a greige+ (grey/beige with a bonus). But I knew @tyna would love it more so I passed it on to her (Marry Christmas!) And the glamordaze lipstick was beautiful, but not a show stopper for me. But even though the colors weren’t right for me, I love MAC gave us an a-typical holiday collection that read as “icy” which is totally fitting.
@hao9703 , this is such a pretty collection even it’s a little unexpected. Girl Trouble and Everything That Glitters polish and Deliciously Demure lipglass are my must-haves… if I can track them down!
I think that the Glamourdaze lipstick looks like the winner for me from this collection. I agree with everyone that it is an off beat, interesting, and beautiful holiday collection. Unexpected can be very good!!
ooooh, I like the Endless Nights nail lacquer, gee wiz they all are super cool, but I can only get away with wearing Endless Nights at work.. So pretty! I like its light pinky shimmer!
I know MAC’s nail polish formula isn’t the best, but Everything that Glitters is just so stinkin’ cute. It’s such a fabulous polish, and SO perfect for New Year’s Eve. Glamourdaze lipstick looks nice but basic.
MAC nail polish is so luxurious! It is by far my favorite brand out there. I have used Endless Nights over and over and over again. It fits with any occasion and is even great for everyday wear. I love the trendy neutrality of it!
I am dying over that Glamourdaze lippie–that looks like the shade I’ve been hunting for this year…*whimpers*
