“Ignite your inner magnetism.” ~ MAC Cosmetics
There’s something irresistible about basics that are done beautifully. When every little detail is done with precision, and it all comes together in this piece that perfectly amplifies the beauty of the wearer, it’s breathtaking, whether it’s a little black dress, or a shoe, or neutral makeup.
I’ll admit, I’m usually more of a bold makeup gal myself, but when I heard about MAC Magnetic Nudes, a new collection of neutral shades, I began stalking the web for info. And when I heard from we heart this that I would be the lucky lass who got to test and review this collection, I felt like it was Christmas all over again!
Magnetic Nudes Lipstick ($15)
Carnal Instinct – brick red with a multi dimensional shimmer (frost)
Sensual Spark – dark peachy nude (amplified)
Sensual Spark lipstick is a great basic nude – it’s probably perfect, actually. It’s nude without going mod. I have quite a few neutral lipsticks from MAC already, but this one is hands down my favorite.
Carnal Instinct lipstick is a gorgeous vampy shade with a golden sheen that’s anything but neutral – it’s FANTASTIC for taking an all-nude look from boring to bold. It definitely adds intensity.
Magnetic Nudes Tinted Lipglass ($15)
Overspiced – muted coral-y nude
Oh My Darling – sheer pale metallic pink shimmer
Overspiced and Oh My Darling are fantastic everyday nude glosses, but MAC already has many, many fantastic nude glosses. Great, but not irreplaceable. However, if you are looking to get aboard the nude train, make sure to check these out!
Lipsticks: Carnal Instinct, Sensual Spark – Tinted Lipglass: Overspiced, Oh My Darling
Magnetic Nudes Extra Dimension Eye Shadows ($19.50)
Sweet Heat – light bronzey pink (metallic)
A Natural Flirt – light pink nude with a slight magenta sheen (metallic)
The Extra Dimension Eye Shadows in Sweet Heat and A Natural Flirt are both great shimmery bright nude shadows that have an almost iridescent, translucent quality to them, and can be built up a little. The formula and finish are pretty unique, but at a cost: these contain less product than a standard MAC shadow, but cost almost $5 more a piece.
Magnetic Nudes Fluidlines ($16)
Chilled – iridescent white gold
If you’ve read any of my MAC posts here on we heart this, you know I’m a sucker for MAC Fluidlines, particularly limited edition ones. Chilled is a little difficult to use as a liner, and worked better for me as an eyeshadow base. I tried layering it on to build up the color and shimmer, but it ended up looking a little chunky.
Magnetic Nudes Extra Dimension Skinfinish ($30)
Magnetic Appeal – orangey tan with a fine gold shimmer
The Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Magnetic Appeal is gorgeous. This skinfinish has the coppery depth of a bronzer, but the perfectly golden glow of a highlighter.
Magnetic Nudes Extra Dimension Blush ($25)
Pleasure Model – medium terracotta with a slight pearly sheen
The Extra Dimension Blush in Pleasure Model is a little more brick-brown than I usually wear, but it went well with the subtle neutral eyeshadows to bring out my features.
Extra Dimension Eye Shadows: Sweet Heat, A Natural Flirt – Fluidline: Chilled – Extra Dimension Skinfinish: Magnetic Appeal – Extra Dimension Blush: Pleasure Model
A second look! Extra Dimension Eye Shadows: Sweet Heat, A Natural Flirt – Fluidline: Chilled – Extra Dimension Skinfinish: Magnetic Appeal – Extra Dimension Blush: Pleasure Model

See how nicely Chilled works as a primer?
Overall, I really like this collection and how some of the products aren’t nudes, but help to pull off a nude look by adding an interesting pop. The Magnetic Nude collection has all of the quality and good length of wear of MAC’s regular product lineup, as well as similar pricing.
we heartsters – are you drawn to any of these magnificent magnets?

I love when you’re wearing colors! The “Magnetic Nudes” are a sultry yet very sophisticated collection and definitely worth a second and third look, probably a purchase. Excellent review, @lipglossandspandex!
In other words, sing three verses of Rod Stewart’s “You Wear It Well!”
Hee – and now I can’t get that Rod Stewart song out of my head @gigi!
That Carnal Instinct lippie looks like it wants to join my makeup stash—shimmering deep berry red? Yes, please!
Always love when you share how the latest MAC collections look on the skin, and out of their packaging @lipglossandspandex! While some might go towards bold, as a long time lover of more neutral shades, this is a MAC line for me.
I’ve got my eyes on Sensual Spark since I am STILL looking for the perfect nude lipstick and Pleasure Model since lately I have been obsessed with MAC blushes.
Sorry, Tyna. It just came to mind. I’ve been singing “New York, New York” for three days and have no idea why . . .
Thank you everyone! This collection has a lot of FANTASTIC products–whether you love nudes or brights, everyone should have some really good neutral colors in their makeup arsenal. My favorite items in the Magnetic Nude collection that I tested above are Carnal Instinct (the photos really do NOT do it justice… after it sets a bit, the gold finish is REALLY striking), Extra Dimension Blush in Pleasure Model, Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Magnetic Appeal (I’ve been using one or both of these non-stop since I received them… the amount of glow and bronze and gold they add is perfect), and Extra Dimension eyeshadow in A Natural Flirt (great as an all-over lid color or as a browbone highlight!). But really, I don’t think you can go wrong with any item in this collection.
Love this look. The eyeshadows look so soft and I really like the blush color too. I will have to hit the MAC website…
WOZA! Super colors for an amazing look on your pretty face @lipglossandspandex! MAC has so many great colors to wear that it seems like they have something amazing for everyone out there! Right? Not many makeup lines can pull that off. These really seem to work well on everyone! That’s why I’m a fan of their line. I’m going to MAC this weekend, so I’m going to see these in person! Carnal Instinct Lipstick really is a show stopper on your lips!
This is a great collection of nudes! I’m loving how you’re wearing it, @lipglossandspandex. I really love Chilled – I wish it wasn’t so difficult as a liner! I would like it in a pencil format.
The lip portion of this release really has my attention. Sensual Spark went right to the top of my list! Great recap of this collection, @lipglossandspandex !
I got a few things from this collection, and it keeps on adding up! LOVE Carnal Instinct – it’s my NEW go-to for nighttime and Superb is awesome, too! I also grabbed Autoerotique.
Great looks! You look beautiful! <3
@lipglossandspandex – you look amazing in these products! Honestly, it’s like they were made for your face.
Here’s how my dance with Carnal Instinct lipstick went:
-shows up for review
-I assign @lipglossandspandex as the writer
-I swatch Carnal Instinct
-I fall in love with Carnal Instinct
-I want to keep Carnal Instinct
-I remind myself I am not the writer! And I do not need another warm red lippie…
-I see pictures of @lipglossandspandex wearing Carnal Instinct
-I buy Carnal Instinct
AND, it’s still online! Get it folks, it’s a beauty.
@lipglossandspandex – WOW! What a fab review and beautiful pictures. Personally, I have been looking for the perfect neutral shadow that makes my hazel eyes pop. I am going to the MAC counter to check these out in person.
