Perfection is possible – with the help of MAC’s Prep + Prime Moisture Infusion and Skin Smoother
In theory, you can’t improve upon perfection, but MAC Cosmetics has found a way with Prime Future, a two-product release of high-tech weapons in the war on flaws. I love and use Prep + Prime products regularly, but these two new offerings to the line, part of MAC’s permanent collection, are something else. Something beyond perfect! And I got to test both:
Prep + Prime Moisture Infusion ($40)
Designed to walk the line between skincare and priming, this serum smooths the skin and fills fine lines and imperfections so that makeup goes on flawlessly. Just a tiny dot of serum under my moisturizer gave me the most perfectly smooth complexion.
Moisture Infusion was created with MAC’s hybrid technology to provide skin with everything it needs to appear smooth and glowing. It works so well, I’m sending the rest of my primers packing for good.
Prep + Prime Skin Smoother ($30)
Tested during three seasons of Fashion Week, this portable primer can be used under or over makeup to fill in fine lines and wrinkles, even skin texture, and mattify and soften the skin.
The balmy texture is silky and refined thanks to a blend of soothing ingredients such as sandalwood extract, barley extract, coffee arabica seed oil and peptides. The fact that Skin Smoother can be carried along in a makeup bag for touch ups solidifies my love for this product.
Skin Smoother should be applied over moisturizer and under foundation or powder for a flawless finish. It can also be used on its own to diminish flaws, and because it leaves no detectable product on the skin, even guys who would otherwise shun cosmetic assistance can use it.
Once again, MAC seems to be thinking years ahead of the rest of us, because these products are so much nicer than anything else I’ve seen in the present. Here’s to the Prime Future!

I love the sparkly black packaging of the Prep+Prime Products. The Prep+Prime Face Protect SPF50 lotion is fabulous, even for those of us with really oily skin! And I also am a huge fan of their Prep+Prime Skin. It helps foundation apply smoothly. Although $40 for the Prep+Prime Moisture Infusion seems a little steep, it is cheaper per ounce than the Prep+Prime Skin. How does it fare on oily/combination skin?
My skin is on the dry side, @lipglossandspandex , so I can’t say for sure how oily skin would fare, but I can say my oilier t-zone didn’t suffer any ill effects. Both of these primers have become regulars for me. And I love the sparkly packaging, too!
I’m also a big fan of the sparkly packaging! So subtle, but so fun.
I think that the Prep+Prime Moisture Infusion sounds fantastic, definitely something I want to try, but I’m wary of the Prep+Prime Skin Smoother. How does the balm mix with powder finishes? I’m nervous about the possibility for clumping, or weird collections of powder in areas like my (rather strong) eyebrows. How has it fared for you in this regard?
It’s funny, I had the same concern, @mandaleem , but the Prep+Prime Skin Smoother pairs beautifully with powders. It’s almost like the balm melts into my skin, filling imperfections (like the frown line between my brows– eek!) so they’re way less noticeable.
I am using this Prep + Prime moisture infusion and skin smoother from past few months and find it to be very effective and useful. It’s one of the products which have really worked on my skin and I started seeing the effect in few weeks only. I do like the sparkly black packaging and the price is also not too expensive.
This stuff looks amazing! I have so many things to add to my MAC wishlist *sigh*
