Move up over Batman and Robin, there’s a new dynamic duo on the block. And while they may not be able to fight crime, it’s a crime if you don’t add them to your stash (see how I did that?) It’s Make Up For Ever’s Smoky Lash and Kohl Pencil, and trust me – they’re a lot better than my puns! For fall, MUFE added new colors to these fabulous existing products for the purpose of sultry, smoky eyes with a colorful twist. Because a black or grey smoky eye? That’s so last season.

First up, Smoky Lash ($22) in four new jewel tones; emerald green, chocolate brown, plum and dark blue. They’re the same formula as the original mascara, so expect thickening, lengthening and added volume to your lashes.

And it’s partner in smoke, the Kohl Pencil ($17). These soft and creamy pencils now come in three new shades; pearly deep blue, matte mocha brown and pearly black purple.

While they work beautifully together when color matched, I bucked the system and chose Smoky Lash in dark blue/#5 and the Kohl Pencil in pearly black purple/#10K. Which worked out well, they’re really quite similar as you can see in the swatch photo. The dark blue mascara leans heavy to the purple side (and I love it for that).

I was a bit hesitant going into Smoky Lash, as usually anything that promises thickening and volume translates to clumps on me. But not the case here. The formula is rather thick, but the brush is small and really allows you to get between lashes and work the mascara thoroughly through. The results? Everything they promised! And the color is very pigmented, so you really notice it on your eyes.

As for the Kohl Pencil, oh – what a liner! They’re so creamy, an absolute dream to blend. But not so creamy that they collapse as you apply them or instantly transfer to your upper lid. And they are perfect on the waterline.

I haven’t smoked these out yet (but will show you pics when I do). But I did do a super quick eye just to show you the color (paired with just a slick of a sparkling taupe, my go to shade with purple these days). I’m telling you we heartsters, seriously loving these!

There’s actually one more part addition to this duo that will help with the smoking, the Smoky Eye Palette ($45). Limited Edition and sold out online, check in store for this beauty.

we heartsters, anyone share my love of MUFE’s dynamic duo of Smoky Lash and Kohl Pencils?

  1. Oooh – I’m digging both of these! I love, love, love midnight blues and smoky eyes and these two MUFE products mash both together! Very pretty @stef – smart to layer with a taupe too, as it helps the blueness stand out even more.
