MOR 2010 holiday collections review

MOR 2010 holiday collectionsphotos: we heart this

After five years of reviewing beauty products and countless holiday collections, I can declare with confidence that you could make any woman on your list squeal with joy by giving the gift of MOR. The first bar of MOR soap I ever owned sat on display in my bathroom, wrapped in its glorious packaging for months, because I could not be bear the thought of disturbing it’s perfection. And beauty addict or not, the little luxuries found within a MOR Holiday Gift Set will be treasured (and possibly hoarded) by the woman lucky enough to unwrap it.

we heartsters of wht know that MOR has continually wowed our writers and review team (Shaya dubbed their signature soaps a “miracle product”) with their impressive collection of luxury bath and beauty. If your looking for a memorable gift, MOR’s Holiday Collection Sets have it all –elegant design, gorgeous packaging, decadent formulas mixing age old and contemporary ingredients, and rich, luscious fragrances – all boxed up in distinctive, reusable tins (that we love almost as much as the products!). And that’s not to mention all MOR products are cruelty-free and free of parabens and sulphates – you just can’t go wrong.

Best of all, these everyday extravagances are also an affordable luxury! You’ll find MOR Gift Sets at every price point – so everyone can enjoy a little opulence in their life. But words can only say so much and these tin box sets are pure eye candy. If there was a wht Packaging Porn Hall of Fame, MOR would be the first inductee.

So let’s take a look at a few of these gorgeous, limited edition collections.

Want to go all out?

Dear Mr. Partridge Gift Set

If you wanted to wrap up and gift the warmth and beauty of the season, look no further then the Dear Mr. Partridge Gift Set ($48). This generous set includes a super moisturizing MOR hand cream (with shea and cocoa butters), a generously sized, extra lush bar of soap and a soy wax blend tinned candle all in a new seasonal scent. These goodies come boxed in a sturdy and elegant cream “hat box” tin with gold graphics that give a modern take on Victorian Christmas style.

limited edition scent Cinnamon & Clove

The new and limited edition scent, Cinnamon & Clove has top notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and vanilla, backed with sandalwood, cedarwood and patchouli and perfectly captures this time of year – it’s a little bit spicy, a little bit sweet, and eventually envelops you in warm, happy haze of yum.

In the market for just a little something?

MOR'S Little Luxuries Sets

  1. I’m squeeing over each and every one of these! What an amazing collection! It’s hard not to covet such a collection! Stunning!

  2. I am the lucky owner of Oh La Lychee, the hot pink Little Luxury shown above. It should speak to the absolute fabulousness of it that I had the pick of the gifts and I chose the least expensive one (well, ok-I wanted Dear Mr. Partridge but @tyna won the toss *shakes fist at tyna*) But the combo of the Lychee sent and the fact that you get TWO tins with this set, I had to have it.

Ok, the tins? They are divine! All but Mr. Partridge are hinged. So they are perfect little keepsake boxes. I’m having a dilemma trying to decide what to use mine for; makeup, jewelry or treasures! I think the small one that has the soap in it will be perfect for travel: cotton balls and q-tips, earrings, you name it. I am so glad that I have these tins! True story, I take them out and fondle them. Yep, I’m weird like that.

The products inside are amazing too. Lychee Flower is a bright, happy scent. Fruity with a touch of floral. Totally makes me want a Lychee Martini! I’m really enjoying the hand cream, it moisturizes really well but doesn’t leave you with greasy fingers. The soap? I haven’t used it yet. It’s too cute! (Are you sensing a pattern with wht testers and MOR? We hoard MOR!)

This quite possibly may be the best $18 you’ve ever spend. I honestly can’t think of a better inexpensive gift than a Little Luxury set.

    5 stars, I’d give 100 if I could!

  3. Umm, when you say squee, you are not kidding. I just got my Instead of Flowers set yesterday and I went, “Oooooo!!!” and might have bounced a little in my chair.

Because that box is pretty. I mean, PRETTY, people. What is it about tins that are just so lovely? This one is the same as pictured, except in a lighter girly pink. It was tied up with a pretty ribbon that I almost didn’t want to take off!
The inside tin is just as pretty as the outside and perfect for storing little things like cotton balls or bandaids.
But mine will probably store my soap because I almost don’t want to use it! (I’m a product hoarder. I need help.)

The scent is just as described. I’m VERY wary of anything that is listed as marshmallow, that’s just asking for a syrupy sweet product that reminds me of high school. Howver, this marshmallow is all grown up, it’s warm and grown-up. The rose keeps it from being too gourmand and the vanilla balances out the floral scent. It’s just pretty.

MOR never disappoints. I’m in love. 5 stars.

  4. Hey all – at the moment (Weds. 11am) all the Little Luxuries sets are sold out on the MOR site. But don’t despair! MOR just told me they’ll be back in stock soon. But if I were you, I’d watch the site closely, they are just too good of a deal to miss (and they will go FAST!)

  5. What a great gift idea. I love giving gifts like this because it’s something you know every woman would love.

  6. Wow….that’s all I can say! These are so flippin’ adorable, I AM literally squealing! I can’t even pick out which MOR gift I would want more because they are all so beautiful…I am going to be stalking the site for sure and plant numerous “hints” in my husband’s path for a Xmas gift idea! These would make a great gift for my sister, mother/mother in law etc…I can’t imagine who wouldn’t love these….

  7. I will be stalking the MOR website. I wish they sent out email alerts when it would be back in stock. I don’t want to miss this one. It will probably go back out of stock quickly.

  8. @hao9703 – they do send out email alerts! If the item you want is out of stock, right on the same page will be a field where you can enter your email and be alerted when it’s back in stock. I’d still stalk the website anyway, cause that’s just how I roll…

  9. Well that epic gushing post should tell you this is a total 5 star review for me! I couldn’t find a single teeny flaw to nitpick with this Holiday Collection if I tried (and I did – it’s my ‘job’).

I did win the coin toss (but Stef tossed and called the coin – so the odds were in her favor) and got to test the amazing Dear Mr. Partridge set! It’s total perfection. From the large hatbox tin to the products to the scent. I love the smells of Christmas but some scents that try to capture it got to far in the sticky sweet direction. This one, Cinnamon & Cloves gets it just right – with a warm, spicy undertone to cut the sweet.

This was my first experience with the Hand Creams from MOR and of course, it’s another winner – lush and soothing and long lasting with the perfect level of fragrance. The soap is as silky and foamy as ever – and I think this new Victorian Xmas design may be my favorite soap package yet. As for the candle, I only burned it for a small amount of time for my test (I’m saving it for holiday parties and guests) but so far so good! The candle is generously sized in (another) tin that will be reusable once I burn through the candle. Which may take awhile – product hoarders unite!

I’m adding my name to the MOR email alerts – thanks @Stef – I want to pick up a few of the little sets – the duo of tins is to die for!

  10. I love when the postal person comes baring WHT gifts this time of year.. Today this giddy girl received “Pretty in Pink” Gift Pack. I’m SO happy and am looking forward to pampering myself tonight! As pretty as it is, I will open it and I will use this. This tin alone is special and of course, another MOR keeper.. I’m beyond thrilled to be on the receiving end of their “oh so pretty” signature in Marshmallow. Upon opening it- as fast as humanly possible, I was wowed by the gorgeous arrangement of three products nestled comfortably in opera black fabric.
I can barely type this cause I’m still so excited!!! Inside: Lip Balm, a darling round decorative container with elegance written all over it.. Hand and Nail Cream, and Triple-Milled Soap! What an amazing gift set.. I would give this to anyone that I really wanted to impress or show how much they really meant to me! Such a special gift indeed! Five hundred and one stars from me!

  11. MOR products look so beautiful in the bathroom or on your vanity. They just ooze luxury!! I need to order some for the holidays.

  12. Clearly the most amazing thing about the MOR Little Luxury set that I received is the fact I only learned when reading this post: IT”S ONLY $17!!!!!!
This is truly luxurious (and no one would think that it could POSSIBLY be less that twenty bucks). The tin is beautiful (I got the Pleasure treasure set..beautiful maroon and black tins). I would have paid seventeen bucks for the littlest tin that houses the cute soap. I’m already making plans for its next life.
As an incredible bonus, these products are great, too. Luckily, I have Cassis Noir perfumed oil (reviewed at WHT in the past) and was familiar with its regal current meets floral sensuous scent. The thick, rich hand cream is so smooth that it softens all my rough parts–hands, heels, elbows and more. The soap is also rich. The use of all of these together creates enough layers that the scent stays and stays.
Again, this set is worth sooo much more than it’s price tag. If you’re on a budget and don’t want folks to know it, stop shopping: you’ve found the perfect gift. I’d give this more that five stars if I could for the bargain alone!

  13. I am the lucky recipient of MOR’s Once Sapon a Time soap collection, and I am squealing as I type. I am awestruck by the packaging and the scrumptious scents inside. The glossy white tin tied with its black satin ribbon is something I’d use to store little treasures, and that’s exactly what MOR has done with this collection. The three exquisitely wrapped bars of soap inside, complete with an emblem that looks like sealing wax, are the most beautiful bars I’ve ever seen.

And the scents! Feijoa Lime smells so good, it’s put me in a frenzy. White Hydrangea is a little more calming. And Emporium Belladonna has an exotic, mysterious scent. I love them all so very much!

I can’t attest to the soaps themselves because I can’t bear to unwrap them yet. Maybe I’ll tuck them inside my lingerie drawers, my favorite trick with too-beautiful-to-use soaps. And I’ve already signed up for “Little Luxuries are back in stock” notification. This is a 5 star collection if I’ve ever seen (or smelled) one. Amazing!

  14. I received the Soap Opera tin and wow, never thought I would say that a soap set could be sleek, sexy, mature and just so classy! The tin itself is beautiful with a little MOR ribbon around it, like you’re receiving a present.

You’re right @tyna, the scents in this set are bold and dramatic! Still usable though. I think my favorite one of this set is Snow Gardenia. It’s possibly the lightest. It’s fresh and just so girly. Italian Blood Orange smells just like an orange – but a very grown up orange! I am trying my best to detect a scent from the Kale & Watercress soap but it’s hard because it sits next to the Italian Blood Orange soap and that is one mighty scent!

The soaps are wrapped in the most gorgeous paper, with embossed designs that have metallic accents. It’s so fancy. The colors of the wrapping correspond with the soaps (Snow Gardenia has silver wrapping, Italian Blood Orange has a red/gold, and Kale & Watercress has green). I’m totally dying over the packaging you guys. This is my first MOR soap. I’m in for an addiction, aren’t I?

Like @stef, I am sort of hoarding the soaps right now too. I feel guilty unwrapping these delicacies before christmas!

These make a perfect gift and I don’t know one lady in my life that wouldn’t turn down perfectly scented + packaged soaps. 5 Stars from me!
