Your glitter polish woes, solved!
Our Indie Nail Polish Spotlight is an ongoing series that highlights not only the new and upcoming stars in the indie nail polish world, but the entrepreneurs behind them. These small business owners are making their dreams come true by starting their own lines and we heart this believes that you do not need a big name to make a big splash in the beauty world!
I know that at wht we have some glitter-loving readers who adore the sparkle of glitter polish but hate the clean-up when you remove it. Add me to that group, but throw in my dislike of textured polishes. (Sorry, fans, I know it’s on trend but it just makes me shudder.) Allison of Nail Pattern Boldness heard our pain and created two amazing products that will change the way you look at glitter polish – Glitter Food and Glitter-A-Peel.
Glitter Food aka Fix A Flat ($8) is a top coat that smooths out rough glitter; much like Gelous or Seche Vite, but better. It dries quickly and matte, giving a smooth finish that only requires a regular clear top coat to give it a mirror shine. See how empty my bottle is? That’s because I purchased it long before NPB sent any products for review and I use it on EVERYTHING.
It’s also called Fix A Flat because it can be used to suspend glitter in polish that has gone “flat” or had all the glitter sink to the bottom. Add Fix A Flat to the bottle, gently shake it up and voila! That bottle you’d demoted to the back of the drawer has new life. Yay for dual purpose products.
A little prep work with Glitter A-Peel ($8) will make your glitter removal issues disappear. Apply two thin coats of Glitter A-Peel as a base coat and then apply polish as usual. When you’re ready for a change, you take an orange stick or a file and gently peel back a corner of the polish and then peel off. It’s easy and oddly satisfying, like removing Elmer’s Glue from the palm of your hand.
I did not see any damage on my nail bed from the peeling, and nearly all of my polish came off in one neat little chunk. The only drawback I found is that Glitter A-Peel does make my manicure more prone to chips, but I am pretty hard on my hands. This also works on standard polish, so this is perfect for those of us who are constantly changing our nails, or if you have a job where you can’t wear polish but you want to have some fun fingers for the weekend.
Eliminating bumpies and making removal easy, Nail Pattern Boldness will make you fall in love with glitter all over again!
