Varied inspiration with consistently amazing formula
Our Indie Nail Polish Spotlight is an ongoing series that highlights not only the new and upcoming stars in the indie nail polish world, but the entrepreneurs behind them. These small business owners are making their dreams come true by starting their own lines and we heart this believes that you do not need a big name to make a big splash in the beauty world!
Last week, we got a look at two amazing manicure basics from Nail Pattern Boldness (see our review of Glitter Food and Glitter A-Peel here) and today we’re checking out a few of their glitter-tastic colors. This brand also has some fabulous cremes and jellies, but the three polishes we’re swatching today bring on the sparkle!
My favorite part of indie polish is seeing where the makers find inspiration; not chained by marketing or trends, indies can let their imagination run wild, and we get to reap the benefits. One of the first indie polish lines I discovered was Nail Pattern Boldness and founder Allison has some of the best, varied collections around.
First up from the Time Traveller collection is this Doctor Who-inspired polish called Hello Sweetie. The catchphrase of Dr. River Song, this beauty is a purple jelly with red, black and copper glitter and is a stunner. The purple jelly leans almost lavender, but not quite, and has almost a milky quality to it.

Something about the addition of the copper glitter makes Hello Sweetie ($9) a gorgeous and unusual color that fits its namesake to a T. If you saw this bottle in person, you’d grab it, no questions asked!
Next is Tell Me How to Win Your Heart from the Hello? Collection, inspired by the classic Lionel Richie song. Admit it, you started humming it the second you read the name, didn’t you? It’s okay, me too…
Crammed with red, purple and pink micro glitter, it only took three coats to reach full opacity. This looked great on its own, but could be layered over a creme to create a gorgeous look. I could also see this being used for a really awesome glitter gradient manicure, the teeny glitter would build perfectly. (Sadly, this shade is now sold out.)

As a Whovian, I thought my favorite of the bunch would be Hello Sweetie, but NPB surprised me by making me fall in love with one of its core colors, Inner Beauty is for Amateurs ($9). Its name a sentiment that wht readers should identify with, this is a bold red jelly filled with teeny-tiny iridescent blue glitter.

These wee little sparkles make Inner Beauty look like it’s lit from within, and is impossible to stop staring at. I’m so glad this is a core collection, because it’s a color that I will be buying again as soon as my current bottle runs out. This dries with a very slight rough texture, but nothing a normal top coat can’t fix.
So what do you think, wht readers? Which of the Nail Pattern Boldness collections are you inspired by?

Alyssa is kinda geeky, kinda girly and all the way in love with her cowboy husband who can say words like, “ornery” with a straight face. She live in Texas and is working on her Masters, being a good cook and the art of looking cute in the morning AND being on time for work. Visit her blog Kind of a Mess.
Very pretty!
I think so too! That bottle shot of Hello Sweetie makes me go “Oooo…” every single time!
“Nail Pattern Boldness” is such a cute name– I love a good play on words, @lyssachelle ! The purple jelly of Hello Sweetie is really appealing.
I love the name too, it’s clever without being “cute”! And you’d love Hello Sweetie, that jelly is gorgeous…
Ha ha! Oh my gosh @turboterp – I JUST got the reference after reading your comment. I love a good pun too and can’t believe I missed that. (For other that are slow on the uptake like me, it’s a riff on Male Pattern Baldness – hee!)
Hello Sweetie is beautiful, I love jelly colors with glitter!
I do too!! I have so many in my personal collection, I put on a creme color the other day and was just appalled at how goopy it looked, I’m so used to the translucent jellies! :-)
Some bold, sexy shades (nicely reviewed, @lyssachelle!
Thanks @gigi! You’d love Inner Beauty, it’s slightly vampy without being too boring and typical red polish….
Oooh I want Hello Sweetie really bad! I do love how creative indie brands get with their colors and textures!
So happy that you introduced us all to Nail Pattern Boldness @lyssachelle! I’m dying to get my hands on Inner Beauty is for Amateurs – what a gorgeous red! And the sparkle to polish ration is perfect for me – low-key but still noticeable. Love it!
@Tyna, definitely check NPB’s site soon; there’s a red-orange jelly in her Halloween collection that I think might be up your alley!!
I love Tell Me How to Win Your Heart! A cute understated glitter!
I’m so sad the Hello collection is out of stock; “Is Someone Loving You?” had silver microglitter and PINK BUTTERFLY GLITTER. *sigh*
Hello Sweetie is my favourite! What a dreamy color combo! My husband would love that it is bases on Dr. Who! LOVE THAT!
RIGHT?? Honestly I really thought it would be my favorite because I’m a Whovian AND a River Song fan, but Inner Beauty just won me over. But that contrast of the lavender jelly and that copper glitter…it’s just SO pretty!
