Holiday-week-change-about-yourself

Did you know that the “we” in “we heart this” goes beyond the co-editors? While Stef and I created the site, we’d never be able to carry on without our writers; 16 of the brightest chicks around who specialize in DIY, fashion, food, pop culture and, of course, beauty.

We also couldn’t carry on without YOU, dear reader. So over the holidays, let’s all get to know each other better! We’ll ask a question each day, share some of our writer’s answers and we want you to join us. Leave your answers in the comments and we can all go on a sort-of virtual first date (except way less awkward).

Question of the Day: Name one thing you’d like to change about yourself

My answer: My first thought was to change something physical – and magically drop some extra weight I’ve gained. But honestly, I think even more than that, I would like to become more organized and less of a procrastinator. And if I could change that, I could finally start to exercise and lose the weight too!

Our writers took a look at the things they would want to change about themselves, and here’s what our team had to say…

Amanda: I rush too much. Through everything. I really need to sit down more and really enjoy my surroundings, and the people that come with it. Time moves so fast and before you know it another year is going by. I don’t want to regret days that could be awesome memories!

Amity: My cynicism can be a bit much at times; it would be nice to naturally be a more optimistic person.

Alyssa: I’d like to be much more organized. I’ve got a lot of balls in the air and generally do okay, but when one of them falls, all the rest suddenly gain about ten pounds and then hit me directly between the eyes. I’m making progress, but I’d love to be naturally inclined towards organization, like all those nice ladies on Pinterest.

Kellie: I would absolutely change my tendency towards high anxiety and fear.

Krista: I want to do more things for the people that I love to put smiles on their faces.

Marilyn: There are sooooo many. Right now, I wish I were better at being organized so I could get more stuff done and so my place would be tidier!

Melissa: I’m a worrier, and I’d be a lot happier if I could just give it up and go with the flow!

Pam: You may think I have gonads being from NJ, but I need to learn to grow a pair! Half the time, I think I can be a bit of a pushover and not speak my mind. I’m working on it!

Rachel: The thing I would most like to change about myself would be putting an end to second guessing myself. Essentially more confidence, less worry.

Vyrlee: To gain 20 pounds and keep them on.

Now it’s your turn! If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

  1. I’ll go first, and totally shallow: I wish I was still 28! But with all the experience I have now, not the dummy I was then.

  2. @stef — I am with you! I wasted timed worrying over the of silly stuff that did not matter. I am not a person that believes you can really go back in time but, today I would really love to have a stern talk with my 28 year old self.

  3. I have a tendency to overthink things & beat myself up for my mistakes. And I apologize far too much it’s like I’m apologizing for my existence. So to make it simple: Stop worrying so much & don’t be so hard on myself. :)

    1. Women in general apologize way too much. Why do we do this??

  4. Loved reading these. Reminds me that we are all real people with real struggles. Not that I want any of you to struggle…just makes me feel more normal! Stef, how fun would it be to be 28 again, but with more smarts! Love that!
