Winter Blues setting in? Warm things up with these glosses!

Napoleon Perdis Luxe Lip Glosses Setphotos: we heart this

The holidays are over. No more festive spirit coursing through my veins, no more gluttonous Christmas parties, and the cold of January has moved in on the East Coast (Not a word from you about your 70 degree winters, Californians!)

This is the gloomy time of year when I dream of tropical vacations, white pants and when I crave a pick me up. A pick me up is exactly what I got when I opened the Napoleon Perdis Luxe Lip Gloss Collection ($39).

Napoleon Perdis Luxe Lip Gloss Set

I admit Napoleon Perdis is only familiar to me because of his NP line at Target, but this famous make up artist has been putting brushes to faces for many years. At the young age of 13 he began making up his mom for her nights out, and grew this passion into an internationally known make up brand with stores throughout the world. In 2008, Napoleon teamed up with Target for his NP Set, a mostly paraben-free and lower priced option to his namesake Napoleon Perdis line.

Now, to the glosses! The Luxe Lip Gloss Set houses five shades of moisturizing color and is part of the original Napoleon Perdis line. For me, most gloss sets are like a box of chocolates…there are some flavors you can’t get enough of, and others you never touch. Happily, this gloss set was not like that at all. I was thrilled to see that each and every shade was warm-toned, beautiful and very wearable.

When I opened the outer box of the Luxe Lip Gloss Set, and was struck at the size of the product. These glosses are HUGE. Yay! A hunky 0.40 oz. per gloss – talk about a bang for your buck. These are roughly four times the size of your average tube, and they look very “luxe” with their sturdy gold caps.

Next, those pretty colors grabbed my attention. The glosses are not named, but the range of color goes from a deep wine to a milky nude shade. And ladies, the Luxe Glosses are HIGH gloss! The shine is comparable to MAC’s Lipglass, without the stickiness. These glosses are lightweight, but leave you with a glossy, mirror-like finish.

These glosses rely on natural ingredients for the ‘extras’. Perdis uses lychee extract to flavor his glosses, while powerful antioxidants like green tea and pomegranate extracts are used for maximum hydration. The fragrance is strong, but pleasant – a bubbly gummy scent that reminds me of the classic Hubba Bubba bubble gum. And these glosses do not dry the lips out at all.

Napoleon Perdis Luxe Lip Gloss Set Brush

My one teeny complaint? The applicator, a brush, is not my favorite. Now I am pretty OCD about my products, but as hard as I try, I can rarely get those bristles back in the tube without them spreading and never being the same. That being said, the opening on these glosses is large enough that I am able to leave the bristles intact.

Overall, I’m very happy with this set and have fallen in love with the three mid-tone peachy bordering on coral shades, they’re very wearable this time of year. Considering their size, this is a nicely priced set from Napoleon Perdis and just the thing to get me out of my January Blues!

  1. I agree, @glamazon56 – nothing perks me up like a new lip product, so I understand why five put you in a good frame of mind! I’m intrigued by many things in your post: the jumbo size, the lack of stickiness, and the Hubba Bubba scent to name a few. Great review!

  2. Oh, these look super! Big and great colors to light up the lips! The tones are right up my alley too! I agree with you about the applicator, I hate when that happens.. Maybe they’ll hear you on that comment..

  3. I love the middle 3, especially the coral one right in the middle. Looks like some good pigment and shine!

  4. I with you @glamazon56 , I get super OCD about keeping brush applicators just so, but it never really works out. That said, I think I can take the chance with these glosses thanks to the huge size and great colors! And your handy tip about the larger sized opening. The berry shade is really calling my name!

  5. Love the colors in this set! I don’t currently own any glosses with the brush applicator, but with the size of these, and great shades, I think they are worth checking out.
