The Chinese Year of the Rooster just began, but as far as I’m concerned, 2017 is the Year of the Dragon. I’ve been using Nip + Fab Dragon’s Blood skincare for the past few weeks, and I know there is no rooster power that would make my skin look as good as Dragon’s Blood has.

Because Nip + Fab was a new line for me, I did a little digging around. I was pleased to learn that this reasonably-priced skin care and body care line was founded by Maria Hatzistefanis, who previously created the super-high-end line Rodial. Like its pricier predecessor, Nip + Fab offers a wide range of targeted treatments that feature all kinds of smoothing and firming ingredients.

And, based on the Dragon’s Blood products I tested, plumping ingredients, too!

Dragon’s Blood is a sap from the Croton Lechery tree, famed in the Amazon rainforest for its antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. In its native land, this ingredient is used to heal any possible damage to skin, including cuts, burns, insect bites, pretty much any skin malady you can imagine.

As the active ingredient in Nip + Fab Dragon’s Blood products, the sap seals the skin in a “protective film” to lock in moisture and keep out environmental damage. The result is noticeably plumper (and therefore younger-looking) skin!

Nip + Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Plumping Serum ($19.99 for 1.7 fl. oz.) – This everyday hydrating serum is meant to be used day and night under moisturizer. Its powerful ingredients include:
• Hyaluronic acid – locks in moisture
• Velvet Flower – enhances hydration
• Dragon’s Blood – heals and restores

The serum performs as well as any I’ve ever used, locking in moisture and making my skin look fresh and youthful. Just a tiny bit is needed, and it sinks in quickly. The only possible negative I can come up with is its strong fragrance. While I prefer unscented facial products, the perfume-y scent isn’t a deal breaker.

Nip + Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Plumping Mask ($14.96 for 1.7 fl. oz.) – If the everyday serum isn’t enough plumping power for you, this “instant moisture shot” of a gel mask only takes 10 minutes to boost skin’s moisture and radiance. Active ingredients include:
• Hyaluronic acid – for moisture
• Amino Acid – for brightening
• Dragon’s Blood – for plumping and healing

The short treatment makes my skin initially flushed, then this effect quickly settles down to a generally refreshed radiance. Nip + Fab suggests the mask can also be used overnight as an intensive treatment, but I fear that would be way too much dragon power for my skin. 10 minutes is plenty! Again, the product contains fragrance, so beware if that’s a problem for you.

The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are instantly improved by Nip + Fab’s moisturizing cocktail of ingredients. With a featured ingredient named Dragon’s Blood, I like to think there might be a little magic in there, too.

  1. This sounds like a very powerful product indeed. Never heard of the ingredient “dragon’s blood” before? From the description it seems that is a plumping and brightening product which delivered well, so I’ll keep an eye.

  2. I think my saggy neck would love to give this a shot! I am really not liking what is happening to my neck and décolleté!
Hoping for a miracle baby! This really does sound great to me!

  3. Great post@turboterp! I haven’t tried Nip+Fab yet, but I kinda want to try their Dragon’s Blood products. If only so my husband can see these on the bathroom counter and wonder at what craziness I’m putting on my face now. DRAGON’S BLOOD, people! C’mon! YES! *fist bump*
